Midea Triumphs at IFA Product Technical Innovation Awards As a leading global player in consumer appliances, Midea has won fame for its cuttingedge technology at the 2017 IFA Product Technical Innovation Awards. Its Rice Cooker MB- PFZ3503 was awarded the Multistage IH Heating Technology Gold Award while the Beverly JSQ30- 16HI8 gained the Zero Cooling Water Technology Innovation Gold Award Hall 5.1 / Stand 108 Huang Xiang, Senior Vice President of IDG; Miss IFA; Jerry Huang, Small Domestic Appliance Technical Deputy General Manager of Midea; Jens Heithecker, IFA Executive Director; Sabine Florian, Executive Director of German Industry and Commerce Co., Ltd. and Dirk Koslowski, Senior Executive Manager (l. t r.) Midea’s Hot Water Solutions Midea’s Beverly JSQ30-16HI8, also known as the Lintom I8, is a unique water heating product that uses the Zero-cold Water system to heat water faster. Compared with traditional hot water systems, the heating time is shortened by 40% with this powerful product - for a living space of 150 sq m it therefore only takes two minutes to supply hot water for the whole house, reducing the waiting time for 220 minutes every month. Midea’s ambition is to shorten the waiting time further. In terms of technology, the product adopts a turbocharged cycle engine and aerospace ceramic shaft with a vortex impeller layout - the angle of the vortex impeller is 60°. With rotation speeds reaching 3000rpm/min, Midea strives for a smooth hot water procedure and precision in every component. Besides working to reduce waiting time, Midea has also been focused on refining temperature variability. Fluctuations in water temperature of more than 2°C can result in an uncomfortable feeling for people. So Midea has been dedicated to the research and development of stepless constant temperature cabin technology, which is capable of providing hot water of constant temperature with perfect feeling to the human skin. The temperature difference is controlled at ±0.5°C Hall 5.1 / Stand 108 Midea Rice Cooker Deploys Five Technologies Midea’s Rice Cooker MB-PFZ3503 applies five core technologies to ensure each rice grain is evenly heated in the cooking process, thus improving and enhancing the taste quality of rice. The first of these technologies is IH heating technology with high-speed, broadband frequency, partition control. This drives the bottom and side areas for independent heating, alternative heating, and high-speed joint heating, and implements different heating control and combinations in the cooking process, so as to reduce the possibility of rice blocks formed in the intensive heating area. Other Midea innovations include: bumping control technology by instant voltage transformation; shell integrated punch forming technology and the M-Smart system. The latter automatically matches rice type, selects different tastes, and acts as the cooking process reminder. The final technology is vacuum pot technology. This is exclusively designed with a bottom boiling ring, which can make the heat form intensive convection, and also make the bubbles generate and float evenly and densely, so that the rice can be evenly heated. It also adopts vacuum layer design and vacuum layer manufacturing, which can effectively prevent the heat from being lost at the side of the liner, and realise constant heat preservation in power-off mode Hall 5.1 / Stand 108 48

BROUGHT TO YOU BY Region SPOTLIGHT ON CHINA ADVERTORIAL Reliability, Quality, Performance and Design Galanz leverages manufacturing strength to create quality and service for consumers Leung Chiu Yin President, Galanz AS AN ENTERPRISE WE ALWAYS PUT CONSUMERS AT THE CENTRE. WE ARE NOT JUST MANUFACTURING PRODUCTS BUT ALSO CREATING A WHOLE NEW LIFESTYLE After launching onto the international market in the 1990s as a microwave manufacturer, Chinese home appliance firm Galanz quickly expanded into air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and other small home appliances. Some 20 years on, the company has established strategic partnerships with many famous European brands and exported almost 0.2 billion units to Europe. Proof of the company’s rapid progress as an international player is the news that it has been selected as a winner at this year’s IFA Product Technical Innovation Awards. The Smart Interconnected Innovation Gold Award went to the Galanz Ice World Refrigerator BCD- 388WTDPH, while the Safety and Cleaning Technology Innovation Gold Award went to the Galanz Automatic Dishwasher W3A1G1-0C0. Speaking to IFA International magazine, Galanz President Leung Chiu Yin expressed his delight at winning “such an influential award that is only given to the best and most hard-working products. Through winning, Galanz is able to demonstrate its strength in producing and manufacturing for the international market.” Like many leading Chinese appliance firms, Galanz has prioritised brand-building in recent years – emphasising reliability, quality, performance and design. Leung Chiu Yin said the key to the Galanz brand is “to offer the best quality and service to consumers. As an enterprise we always put consumers at the centre. We are not just manufacturing products but also creating a whole new lifestyle. So we must ensure our consumers are enjoying their work and their lives.” Alongside customer-centric brand-building, Galanz has identified intelligent manufacturing, innovation and localisation as strategic priorities. Galanz has established subsidiaries and R&D centres in countries including Germany, Great Britain and France and employed a lot of local talent. With the deep fulfillment of its localisation strategy, Galanz will provide better brand service experience for global users. “For us to be truly international, we have to merge into every local market and understand consumer needs,” Leung Chiu Yin said. But our definition of localisation is not just to have sales centres, it is also to have research & development and service centres. In Germany, we want to recruit a lot of staff in these areas. Only in this way can we become a truly international brand.” Galanz’s growth has also been helped by strong strategic cooperation with leading retail channels. It has entered into innovative business arrangements such as drop-shipping with the likes of Media Markt, Saturn, METRO, Aldi South, Kaufland, Carrefour (France) and Fillony. And in E-commerce, Galanz is the five-star co-operation partner of OTTO Group. Galanz also plans to accelerate its activities in the drop-shipping model for Amazon in European countries during this year. Innovation has been crucial to the company’s transformation – with a strong emphasis on highefficiency energy-saving products and industries; and eliminating backward and low-valued production capacity. In terms of innovative products on show at the Galanz stand this year, highlights include an internetenabled eco-refrigerator with social and housekeeper function, a drum washing machine with iron-free and steaming function, an intelligent microwave with massive cloud menu, and an embedded three-in-one machine comprising microwave, steam stove and oven. Using their mobile phones to access the Galanz G+ intelligent home appliance app, consumers can also control home appliances remotely, upgrade product function independently, and even control all the intelligent equipment in the house via the Galanz internet eco-refrigerator. Another commendable aspect of the Galanz range is that all exhibited products – from design and materials to installation – are in accordance with the concept of ecological health and green sustainable development. Leung Chiu Yin said IFA is “the most influential platform in terms of R&D, sales and marketing and production. For us, it is an opportunity to communicate with enterprises from all over the world” Hall 10.1 / Stand 109 www.ifa-international.org IFA International • Monday 4 st September 2017 49
