Scansia/IFC Group: Showing Confidence In Oak As Vietnamese Furniture Makers By Michael Buckley Pictured are Import/Export Manager Nguyen Thi Mai Khoi and Managing Director Nguyen Chien Thang, both with International Furniture Limited Co. (IFC), Dong Nai Province, Vietnam. Binh Tan District, Vietnam–Scansia Pacifi c Co. Ltd. may be one of the more well-known and larger Vietnamese furniture manufacturers, but it was the International Furniture Limited Company (IFC) that started it all in 1999. Originally a state-owned company, known as Scanviwood, it had operated on the 2-hectare site, or approximately fi ve acres, in Binh Tan District, just outside Ho Chi Minh City. Once a privately owned joint-venture between Vietnamese and European owners who took control in An IFC employee applies a finish by hand to a solid Oak chair made at the company’s facility. American Oak comprises a large percentage of the furniture made at IFC.
