NEWS DEVELOPMENTS

NEWS DEVELOPMENTS Continued “The updated Cypress Siding Installation Guidelines were developed in response to common questions that came in through our website at CypressInfo.org, as well as to address advances in construction methods and technology,” said Zack Rickman, president of the SCMA. The new guide details how to install various vertical and horizontal siding patterns, and delves into how to install rainscreen, which is becoming a popular alternative to traditional cladding methods. In a rainscreen application, an air space is created between the siding boards and wall structure—allowing for efficient water drainage and alleviating potential moisture concerns. “As a trusted source of information for design professionals, contractors, and homeowners, the SCMA’s goal is to equip professionals and do-it-yourselfers with current practices and proper techniques to set them up for a successful siding project,” Rickman said. “As always, the SCMA recommends following local and national building code requirements, as well as consulting local building professionals.” The Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of Cypress building products to trade professionals and consumers.
