THE GROUPThe maximum group size is 13 passengers. Passengers comefrom a range of countries worldwide (average of 4 nationalities pergroup) and many will be solo travellers. You will find you have manythings in common with your fellow travellers, including a passionfor discovery and a strong interest in exploring the National Parks.Grand American <strong>Adventure</strong>s tours are designed for adults over 18years old. While most passengers are aged 25-55, every year weget many people both above and below this age range. All travellersover the age of 70 will be requested to complete a self-declarationof fitness form prior to travel. Our tours are a unique holiday experience and much of yourenjoyment will come from the team spirit of your group and the funyou’ll have together, as well as from the local setting. We cannotstress strongly enough the importance of bringing a positiveattitude with you on tour; a sure guarantee to enjoying each andevery moment, even in the adversity of the odd rainstorm!RESPONSIBLE and sustainable TRAVELWe are committed to offering low impact tours that benefit boththe places and communities we visit as well as our travellers. It isimportant for us all to be aware of the delicate balance that existsin the variety of natural wonders you will visit. National Parks andmonuments, archaeological sites and other sensitive areas shouldand must be treated with respect. We have created a ‘Travellers’ Code of Conduct’ to help prepare andinform our groups of the various positive or negative effects theycould have on a destination. The code includes tips on everythingfrom handling wildlife encounters to how you can help to conserveprecious natural resources. Our tour leaders will explain this codeof conduct during the first night’s orientation talk and encourageyou to follow it throughout the tour. This code includes following the ‘Leave No Trace’ ethic, this is aninternational campaign that is designed to help us minimise theimpact on the National Parks and other wilderness areas that wevisit. Some key guidelines we follow include keeping to existingtrails, staying in official campgrounds and disposing of all wasteresponsibly and recycling whatever we can.We are proud supporters of the American Hiking Society, whichchampions conservation issues in the United States and representsmillions of hikers committed to preserving America’s vast networkof hiking trails and their surrounding ecosystems.Whenever possible, we use local accommodation and activityproviders. We also shop locally for groceries, eat in small family-runrestaurants and visit local shops whenever possible. This all bringseconomic benefit to the local communities that we visit.Responsible Tourism on the Historic Route 66...In 1938 Route 66 became the first paved highway linking theUSA from east to west. It was a powerful and iconic symbolof the great American road trip. Creation of the Interstate andbypass signalled the decline of businesses and towns alongthe Route 66. This tour invests a significant amount of timeand money utilising services and businesses to keep thishistoric stretch of road from crumbling into the past. After your tourFeedback & ReviewsWe want to hear about your experience and stories from theroad, so please feel free to e-mail us any comments, feedbackor reviews whilst you are on tour or when you return home tocomments@grandamericanadventures.co.uk.
