altered leaf color. The systematic screening of the collection
occurs via highly sensitive chlorophyll fluorescence
(CF) imaging which can quantify the electron
flow along the thylakoid membrane.
We are at this moment only halfway into the first year
of the four-year project and we will continue to work
hard collaboratively with staff and students from two
different institutes with their own unique expertise
from within our Faculty of Science. Together with
the innovative technique of genome interrogation, we
will hopefully yield significant progress with respect
to the insight into the biocomputing programs within
plants. The revolutionary technique by which we aim
at artificially speeding up evolution of more efficiently
photosynthesizing plants will potentially not only
lead to successes in fundamental science. Obviously,
we also hope to be able to make an applied contribution
to the modern problems of our society related to
the increased demands of food and fuel.
