4. Keep the work place clean and tidy.
Always work in well-lit conditions. Untidy and dark
working conditions can cause accidents.
5. Wear appropriate working clothes.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery which could
get caught in the machinery. When working outdoors,
wear rubber gloves and non-slip shoes. Keep
hands and gloves away from moving parts.
6. Wear protective gear.
All persons present in the operating area must wear
safety gloves and glasses in compliance with local
safety standards. When operating the machinery for
extended periods, always use ear protectors. Wear a
mask if the work causes dust to be created. Protective
helmets, masks and shoes must be worn when
necessary and safety regulations require it. Always
keep a fire extinguisher close by.
7. Do not allow anyone to stand close to the
When necessary, put barriers and safety guards in
place.
9. Keep machine and workpiece steady.
Always use clamps, chuck blocks and other practical
working aids, so that your hands are free and can hold
and control the machine more efficiently.
10.Use the right equipment and accessories. Do
not use equipment which is inappropriate for
the material, such as for example a circular
saw for sawing logs or tree trunks. Do not
modify electrical equipment.
11.Always use the recommended accessories,
which must be in perfect condition.
The use of any non-recommended accessories can
cause unnecessary risks. Ensure that accessories
have been installed correctly, and get then inspected
regularly. Always take care not to damage safety devices
and equipment when installing accessories.
12.Inspect damaged equipment parts.
Before starting up the machine, inspect covers and
safety devices. Check for incorrectly aligned parts,
jammed moving parts, incorrect mounting, damaged
parts and other defects which could prevent the
machine from operating correctly. Switch off immediately
if excessive noise or vibration occur. Do not
continue until the problem has been resolved. Never
use damaged equipment. Until the machine has been
fully repaired, place a 'DO NOT USE' sign on it.
