Resumo<br />
Na obra <strong>de</strong> <strong>Eugénio</strong> <strong>de</strong> Andra<strong>de</strong> (1923-2005) esvoaçam bandos <strong>de</strong> andorinhas, melros,<br />
cotovias, rouxinóis, gaivotas, etc. O poeta serve-se <strong>de</strong>stas aves <strong>para</strong> evocar,<br />
intertextualmente, pássaros idênticos, que cantam nos textos dos autores que estima.<br />
Neste artigo, centrar-me-ei apenas nos po<strong>em</strong>as on<strong>de</strong> <strong>Eugénio</strong> refere <strong>de</strong>termina<strong>das</strong> aves<br />
explícita ou implicitamente associa<strong>das</strong> a três poetas clássicos ingleses: Shakespeare,<br />
Keats e Yeats (excluo a menção d<strong>em</strong>asiado vaga a Shelley); <strong>de</strong>bato a forma como<br />
<strong>Eugénio</strong> apropria esses pássaros na sua escrita; exponho os significados que lhes atribui.<br />
Para escorar as minhas interpretações, recorro a textos críticos, a obras <strong>de</strong> referência, e a<br />
outras fontes relevantes.<br />
Abstract<br />
In <strong>Eugénio</strong> <strong>de</strong> Andra<strong>de</strong>’s po<strong>em</strong>s fly flocks of swallows, blackbirds, skylarks,<br />
nightingales, seagulls, etc. The poet uses these animals, intertextually, to evoke similar<br />
birds that sing in the texts written by the authors he loves. In this article, I will focus<br />
solely on the texts where <strong>Eugénio</strong> mentions certain birds explicitly or implicitly<br />
associated to three classic English poets: Shakespeare, Keats and Yeats (I exclu<strong>de</strong> a<br />
vague reference to Shelley); I discuss how <strong>Eugénio</strong> appropriates those birds in his<br />
writing; and the meanings he assigns to th<strong>em</strong>. To substantiate my interpretation, I resort<br />
to critical texts, reference books, and other relevant sources.<br />
