Numa <strong>da</strong>s paisagens mais admira<strong>da</strong>s <strong>de</strong> <strong>Portugal</strong>, encontramos<br />

a Pousa<strong>da</strong> <strong>de</strong> Santa Maria do Bouro. Situa-se no concelho<br />

<strong>de</strong> <strong>Amares</strong>, na região do Minho, e foi, no século XII, Mosteiro<br />

Cisterciense. A sua renovação foi assina<strong>da</strong> por Eduardo<br />

Souto <strong>de</strong> Moura, um dos maiores nomes no panorama<br />

<strong>da</strong> arquitectura mundial. O edifício é constituído por facha<strong>da</strong>s<br />

<strong>de</strong> granito (característico <strong>da</strong> região) e foi remo<strong>de</strong>lado<br />

respeitando o antigo traço, sempre assente nas exigências<br />

do melhor conforto.<br />

Estão presentes estátuas <strong>de</strong> figuras históricas entre elas<br />

S. Bernardo, a Virgem <strong>da</strong> Assunção e cinco reis do tempo<br />

<strong>da</strong> fun<strong>da</strong>ção <strong>da</strong> nacionali<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong>. Possui uma Igreja Primitiva<br />

e uma Sacristia forra<strong>da</strong> a azulejos do século XVIII.<br />

Das janelas, avistam-se os encantadores jardins que fazem<br />

lembrar tempos idos.<br />

<strong>In</strong> one of <strong>Portugal</strong>’s most admired landscapes we will find<br />

the Pousa<strong>da</strong> <strong>de</strong> Santa Maria do Bouro.<br />

Located in the council of <strong>Amares</strong>, in the Minho region,<br />

it was a Cistercian Monastery in the 12 th century.<br />

The remo<strong>de</strong>ling project was un<strong>de</strong>rtaken by Eduardo<br />

Souto <strong>de</strong> Moura, one of the most relevant names<br />

in world architecture to<strong>da</strong>y. The building is ma<strong>de</strong> of granite<br />

faça<strong>de</strong>s (the characteristic style of the region) and was<br />

remo<strong>de</strong>led respecting the old traces, yet complying with the<br />

requirements of the highest comfort of nowa<strong>da</strong>ys.<br />

Guests can see statues of historical characters, including Saint<br />

Bernardo, Virgem <strong>da</strong> Assunção and five kings from the time of<br />

the foun<strong>da</strong>tion of the Portuguese nation.<br />

The complex also hosts an early church and a sacristy with<br />

glazed tiles from the 18 th century, covering the walls.<br />

From its windows, guests have a look onto the charming<br />

gar<strong>de</strong>ns, a remin<strong>de</strong>r of passed times.<br />
