descumpre as leis trabalhistas no Brasil
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. was
recently voted by Fortune Magazine
as one of the best companies to
work for in the USA and the fifth
most admired global corporation. If
the magazine had interviewed the
workers in the Brazilian
subsidiary, the results would have
been different.
In Brazil, the biggest retail
company in the world is
characterized by the disrespect to its
employees. It does not enforce the
labor legislation, it is negligent
with health and safety and tolerates
the abuse of power. The Social
Observatory research reinforced the
struggle of the unions which held
in 2001 the first national
conference of Wal-Mart workers.
Recentemente a Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
foi apontada pela revista Fortune como
uma das cem melhores empresas para
se trabalhar nos EUA e a quinta mais
admirada entre as corporações globais.
Se a publicação tivesse entrevistado os
trabalhadores da subsidiária brasileira os
resultados seriam distintos. No Brasil a
maior empresa varejista do mundo se
caracteriza pelo desrespeito aos
empregados. Descumpre a legislação
trabalhista, é negligente com a saúde e
segurança, tolera abusos de poder. A
pesquisa do Observatório Social reforçou
a luta dos sindicatos, que realizaram em
2001 o primeiro Encontro de
Trabalhadores Wal-Mart do Brasil.
