It was also noticed that failures in the city of Baia Mare with the most serious
consequences on the surrounding areas occur at the cement-asbestos pipes with large
diameter where the failure is sudden with massive bursts of material and with serious
impact on the surrounding areas, the work procedure in case of water pipe failure takes a
long time due to the fact that the damaged pipe section must be replaced, this leading to
water supply interruption to the consumers for a longer period of time. Considering that,
pipe sections with average and major risk of failure with serious impacts on the
neighbouring areas were identified and localised. (fig. 5).
