En fallstudie av biflödet Torrebergabäcken – en del av Segeå
ABSTRACT
On the basis of fieldwork and the analysis of maps, this study has found that the run-­‐off area
connected to a stream in Scania called Torrebergabäcken is massively drained as a result of the
rationalisation of farming, which has contributed to large surplus of nitrogen in the stream. To
minimize eutrofication in water down-­‐stream, treatment of the drainage water is required. Taking
the technical prerequisites of the area into account it can be concluded that first priority should be
given to connecting drainage systems to the few already existing ponds in order to treat the water.
Even letting drainage water filter through roots of salix plantations is a suitable measure. As a second
priority it is recommended to restore the curves of the stream and make smaller wetlands in
connection to the outflows of the drainage pipes. Finally new ponds, wetlands as well as
denitrification walls are recommended as a last resource.
