The study area covers about 380 hectare field located in the south of the 15th Km of
Dinar-Denizli highway. Dazkiri member of Oligocene old Hayrettin Formation is
located in and around the study area. It was cover unsuitably by Miocene old
Kiziloren Formation. Pliocene old Akarca Formation is placed above the Kiziloren
Formation.
The objective of this study is to investigate engineering geology of the Organized
Industrial Zone of Dinar. For this purpose engineering geology map and sections
were prepared. In addition, 10 10 m-deep drills were opened and drill logs were
prepared. Uniaxial comprossion test of the clay limestone constituting the basic
ground were conducted in the laboratory. Üniaxial comprossion test was conducted
on the samples grouped as natural water containing, water saturated and high
carbonate rate.
According to calculations made as a results of these experiments allovable was
decreased by 50% as water saturation of clay limestones was increased. On the other
hand, as the carbonate rate of the clay limestone was increased, allovable value was
increased by 50 fold.
Key Words: Dinar, engineering map, carboncous claystone.
