Matematika je zpravidla vnímána jako jazyk vědy, tj. nástroj, pomocí kterého disciplíny jako
fyzika anebo ekonomie dosahují exaktnosti. Proto si běžně ani neuvědomujeme, že i matematika
má vlastní jazykový rozměr. V knize je zkoumán právě jazykový aspekt matematiky. Na
příkladu algebry jsou analyzovány parametry jako logická síla, expresivní síla, metodická síla,
integrativní síla, explanatorická síla a metaforická síla jazyka matematiky. Pak jsou popsány
syntaktické konvence, které logickou, expresivní… sílu jazyka matematiky konstituují.
Mathematics is usually viewed as a language of science, as a tool by means of which disciplines
such as physics or economics achieve their exactness. Therefore, usually we do not
realize that also mathematics has its own linguistic dimension. In the book we study the
linguistic aspect of mathematics. On the example of algebra we analyze parameters such as
the logical power, expressive power, methodological power, integrative power, explanatory
power and metaphorical power of the language of mathematics. Then the syntactic conventions
that constitute the logical, expressive ... power of the language of mathematics are
described.
