› The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a text based client-server protocol for<br />

peer-to-peer communication.<br />

› The design base was HTTP and SMTP<br />

› SIP is used to establish, modify and terminate IP multimedia sessions.<br />

› SIP is able to establish a broad range of IP multimedia sessions:<br />

– Voice and/or video<br />

– Gaming<br />

– Presence and Instant Messaging<br />
