<strong>2007</strong> Census of Population Explanatory NoteFor purposes of this report, the population of an area disputed by twobarangays in the same municipality is excluded from either disputing barangay butincluded in the municipality. A disputed barangay between two municipalities in thesame province is included in the count of the province, while, the population of adisputed barangay between two provinces is included in the count at the nationallevel. A disputed barangay refers to an area which is being claimed by two or morebarangays, municipalities, cities or provincesEnumeration AreaAn enumeration area (EA) is a delineated area usually consisting of about350 to 500 households. It could be an entire barangay or part of a barangay. It isassigned to one enumerator.Usual Place of ResidenceThis refers to the geographic place (street, barangay, city/municipality orprovince) where the enumerated person usually resides. As a rule, it is the placewhere that person sleeps most of the time, hence, it may be the same as ordifferent from the place where he/she was found at the time of the census.HouseholdA household is a social unit consisting of a person living alone or a group ofpersons who sleep in the same housing unit and have a common arrangement inthe preparation and consumption of food.In most cases, a household consists of persons who are related by kinshipties, like parents and their children. In some instances, several generations offamilial ties are represented in one household while, still in others, even moredistant relatives are members of the household.Household helpers, boarders, and non-relatives are considered asmembers of the household provided they sleep in the same housing unit and havecommon arrangements for the preparation and consumption of food and do notusually go home to their family at least once a week.A person who shares a housing unit with a household but separately cookshis meals or consumes his food elsewhere is not considered a member of theNational Statistics Officeviii
