their personal experiences with writing prior to coming to the United States are valuable because many of our students
are unable to reveal the differences in writing expectations so clearly. The video points to the struggles these students
had with writing at the college level in the United States. Some share how surprised and unprepared they were when it
came to writing here versus the country where they learned to write. Others shared a new sense of anxiety when they
write a paper for class. Imagine one or more of these students are students in your class. They have the same
struggles with writing. How do you support them? What worked for you when you learned how to write an essay? Find a
