Events - Families and Young People The Big Draw 2016 The theme for 2016 is STEAM - Science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Our workshop, open to anyone is designed as part of a wider programme helping you explore new and creative ideas. With artist Stacey Allan you are invited to take inspiration from the drawings and inventions of Leonardo da Vinci and explore the use of paper circuitry by designing your own mechanical bird. No step free access Friday 28 October, 11am - 3pm FREE DROP IN - subject to availability. Family Fun From Sheep to Blankets Tuesday 25 October, 11am-1pm Guildford has been famous for its woollen cloth since the middle ages, but do you know how it was made before we had machines to do it? Join us to see how people in the past transformed sheep’s fleece into cloth. Have a go at using a spindle and make your own little loom to start weaving like our ancestors. Suitable for ages 5-9 PLACES MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE: £3 PER CHILD Guildford Museum Children attending Family Fun events must be accompanied by an adult. Pastfinders - Junior Museum Club A fun club for young people interested in history and archaeology October Pastfinders is for people aged 8 to 12 years. Beginning in October 2016, it will offer a programme of events during half terms and school holidays. The highlight will be on archaeology and history using events, activities and story telling to explore fascinating aspects of the past. Visits to the important heritage sites of our town will be included: Guildford Castle, the Medieval Undercroft, the Guildhall and Guildford House.
