of each occasion there are often many challenges that have been overcome and<br />
logistical details resolved, as well as the energy, motivation and inspiration of the<br />
professionals involved. Kerry Allerton works in the <strong>Evolution</strong> concierge team in<br />
Barcelona. She smiles as she shares that they are never given much notice, and<br />
are able to organize wonderful events in 48 hours that event companies ashore<br />
probably have weeks to plan.<br />
Xisco Notario, her colleague based in the Balearics adds that the on-board<br />
entertainment they provide is as varied as the clients who seek it. Popular requests<br />
include flamenco shows, magicians for children’s parties and wine-tasting, as well<br />
as live music and DJ sessions for occasions such as birthday parties.<br />
Whilst some clients give a very specific brief, others turn to the experts for<br />
suggestions of “something different”. This could be a birthday celebration, or a<br />
show with an added “wow factor” to surprise and amaze their guests. Creativity<br />
is required to go beyond simply good ideas; they also need to be feasible within<br />
the vessel’s capacity and potential restrictions as a venue. Power requirements<br />
versus available supply, and the space and its characteristics need to be carefully<br />
considered. Each yacht is different, from the camber of the deck for mounting<br />
stages to protecting its surface from a dancer’s high heels. Even when docked the<br />
vessel’s motion might be an issue, and visitors need to be informed about onboard<br />
etiquette.<br />
