Dear Readers,
Welcome to issue 47of ROGTEC Magazine. It is hard
to believe that next year, in September – we will be
celebrating 50 issues of this great magazine. Not bad
for a quarterly publication in a notoriously volatile market.
As I write this, we have seen the first major deal
reached between OPEC and non-OPEC member
to cut production in many years. At the beginning of
December, the agreement was reached and comes into
force at the beginning of January. These agreements,
even when ratified, have been notoriously difficult to
implement. However, in the short term at least we have
seen the price of oil hit nearly 58 dollars and bring a
welcome bit of optimism to the market. With over a
trillion dollars having been slashed from oil company’s
budgets since the price rout and further cuts already
announced for 2017 – let us hope that finally we are
seeing stability in the oil patch.
For this issue – we are operator heavy on the content
side with Rosneft writing articles on well logging during
horizontal drilling and insitu oil. Gazprom Neft are looking
at their new production projects and the arctic routes
that they are using. On top of this we have RPI looking
at the current status and development prospects of
MWD and LWD in Russia which is certainly worth a
read.
as the leading drilling and completions event for
Russia and further information can be seen by visiting
www.rdcr.net. The advisory board is made up of the
leading figures in the oil and gas sector, which is a
testament to how seriously the Russian operators
take the RDCR. LUKoil, Rosneft, SPD and BP are all
members with more expected to join.
We will also be holding the 3rd KDR, Kazakh Drilling
Roundtable in Astana next September (www.kazdr.kz).
We will be adding well engineering to the day’s
proceedings which will make for a larger and more
diverse forum. The event will double in size with four
technology halls over this year’s two. By working
closely with our Platinum Sponsor and General Event
Partner, JSC NC KazMunayGas, the KDR is still making
waves and generating great feedback for all those who
attended.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our
readers a prosperous New Year and a very Merry
Christmas. I hope Father Frost visits and brings you and
your families some fantastic presents – and here’s to
hoping he can bring a few dollars more on the barrel in
2017!
Enjoy the issue.
Don’t forget that we will also be celebrating the
5th annual RDCR, Russian Drilling and Completion
Roundtable on April 13 th . The event is now established
