Top 5 beaches in Goa to celebrate new year 

The most famous beaches are, of course, Baga, Calangute, Candolim, Anjuna and Arambole, but as hard as it 

sounds, the 101km Goan coastline still does have some lesser-known sections that one can explore this year. 

Ask most Indians which 

is their ideal destination 

to ring in the New Year, 

and a majority will shout out 

Goa with an excited jump with 

a fist bump (especially if the 

demographic for the survey falls 

in the 20-40 age group). Yes, 

the sandy beaches of Goa and 

parties that go on all through 

the night are stuff that make for 

a New Year’s Eve that you never 

write home about, but forever 

cherish. 

But to say that the former 

Portuguese colony is only for the 

young party-hopping crowd would 

be unfair, because there’s lots to 

do otherwise as well. From spice 

trails to a trek up to the Dudhsagar 

falls, spend your days exploring the 

old city of south Goa – or best yet, 

simply grab yourself a beach chair 

in the early hours of the morning, 

and lounge around all day, soaking 

in the sun and stuffing yourself 

with the most delicious seafood. 

The most famous beaches are, of

MOBOR BEACH, SOUTH GOA 

While much of the partying is up 

north, if you’re the kind who would 

like some time away from the helterskelter, 

and get your adrenaline 

rush more from adventure sports, 

then head over to south Goa and 

to Mobor Beach. This special place 

doesn’t make it 

to most of your 

popular New 

Year’s Eve in 

Goa list precisely 

because it’s a 

secret hideaway 

that the locals 

cherish. Spend 

the day doing a 

whole bunch of 

water sports like 

parasailing, wake 

boarding, ringo 

ride and even

couples who like to spend the night 

star-gazing and strolling down the 

white sandy beach, hand-in-hand. 

CALANGUTE BEACH, NORTH 

GOA It’s all very good to test out 

new places, but if certain places 

have made a name for themselves 

over the decades as the ‘it’ spots, 

then there’s a very good reason 

for that. Tito’s Lane is where the 

hottest New Year’s Eve action is 

in Goa, and you better get in early 

because with every passing hour 

you’d barely get space to plant your 

feet. With a special DJ mashup all 

night long, the atmosphere will be 

pulsating, it’ll smell of beer and 

smoke, and you’d wish the night 

would never end! 

PALOLEM BEACH, SOUTH GOA 

Palolem, or butterfly beach as it’s 

also called, is famous for its silent 

parties – which is great, because 

you can party the night away but 

without the deafening noise. There 

are also fireworks to be enjoyed 

at midnight, counting down to the 

New Year. It’s the best of all Goan 

worlds. 

BENAULIM BEACH, SOUTH GOA 

Shhh… Benaulim is one of Goa’s yetto-be 

commercialised beaches and 

we’d like it to stay that way. A little 

south of Margao, Benaulim beach 

has a fascinating legend associated 

with it and its exclusivity is part 

of the reason why it draws a lot 

of foreign tourists. It has a couple 

of shacks and offers some great 

seafood options. This is one for 

those who want to sit back, relax 

and welcome the new year in an 

intimate fashion.

Introducing Arambol (Harmal) 

Arambol (also known as Harmal) is the most northerly of Goa’s developed beach resorts 

and is still considered the beach of choice for many long-staying budget-minded travellers 

in the north. 

Arambol first emerged in the 1960s as a mellow paradise for long-haired long-stayers. 

Today things are still decidedly cheap and cheerful, with much of the village’s budget 

accommodation arranged in simple little huts along the cliffsides, though the main beach 

is now an uninterrupted string of beach shacks, many with beach-hut operations stacked 

behind. 

The covelike beach is gently curved and safe for swimming, making it popular among 

families with children, along with the usual array of travellers. A short walk around 

the northern headland, past shops and cheap guesthouses, brings you to little Kalacha 

Beach, another popular place thanks to the ‘Sweetwater Lake’ back from the beach. The 

headland above here is the best place in Goa for paragliding.

Lucid Motors unveils luxury electric car with a 400-mile range and 

'1,000 horsepower battery' 

After a few sneak peeks 

during the LA auto show, 

Lucid has finally ripped the 

camouflage off its luxury 

electric sedan; the $100,000- 

plus Air. 

The luxury vehicle is 

taking aim not only at the 

Model S but also traditional 

gas-powered cars like 

the BMW 7 Series and 

Mercedes-Benz S-Class. 

The company is expected 

to start production in 2018 

at its Arizona factory. At 

130 kWh (a 100 kWh battery 

is standard), the optional 

Lucid exceeds Tesla's 100 

kWh packs available in the 

latest Model S. According 

to the automaker and its 

energy partner Samsung 

SDI the car has a range of 

400 miles per charge. 

The company said the Air 

will fill the luxury, sports

Lenovo K6 Note Launched in India 

Lenovo on Wednesday announced the 

launch its its K Note series via offline 

stores in India. Specifically, the company 

has launched the Lenovo K6 Note in 

India, and says it will be available across 

15,000 retail stores in the country starting 

Saturday. The company says the Lenovo 

K6 Note price in India starts at Rs. 13,999. 

The Lenovo K6 Note smartphone will be 

available in two variants in the country - 

3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/

64GB storage. Lenovo adds that consumers 

will be able to avail zero percent EMIs 

via Bajaj Finance and Home Credit. The 

company has also made the ANT VR 

headset and its VR Controller available in 

offline retail stores alongside, priced at Rs.

The dual-SIM Lenovo K6 Note's biggest 

highlight is its 4000mAh battery, and it 

sports a fingerprint sensor on the rear

powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octacore

The Lenovo Yoga Book 2-in-1 laptop was launched in India 

on Tuesday. The new Lenovo Yoga Book laptop, which was 

unveiled at IFA 2016, is claimed to be the "world's thinnest 

2-in-1", is priced at Rs. 49,990. Key highlights of the Lenovo 

Yoga Book hybrid laptop include a first-of-its-kind Halo 

keyboard and Real Pen input. The hybrid will be offered 

in Carbon Black colour and will be available exclusively 

on Flipkart. Lenovo Yoga Book has been launched in its 

Windows variant in India, with the company not deciding

Самолет съехал с взлетно-посадочной 

половы в аэропорту штата Гоа Доболим 

В штате Гоа прямо с взлетнопосадочной 

полосы аэропорта 

эвакуировали 154 пассажира 

и пять членов экипажа 

самолета Jet Airways Инцидент 

произошел в международном 

порту Даболим. По информации 

издания, самолет выкатился 

с взлетно-посадочной полосы 

при взлете из-за технической 

неисправности. При этом 

воздушное судно получило 

повреждения. 

Члены экипажа и пассажиры 

остались живы, несколько 

человек получили ранения, 

они эвакуированы с места 

происшествия и в данный момент находятся в безопасности. В 

связи со случившимся международный аэропорт Даболим был 

закрыт до 12:20 по местному времени

Итак, вы прилетели в Гоа, успели поторговаться с таксистом или 

разделить его с собратьями путешественниками, замечательно 

Насекомые Гоа 

провели время в машине с кондиционером от которого замерзают 

глаза и немеет та часть лица на которую дует этот восхитительный 

морозный воздух. Послушали все хиты боливуда, обогнали 

нерасторопных индусов, помолились и, наконец, приехали к своему 

временному жилищу. Тут то вас и подстерегают нежданные гости в 

виде странных, смутно знакомых, а местами и пугающих насекомых. 

Все мы знакомы с такими неприятными гостями, как тараканы. Казалось бы, мы должны были 

к ним привыкнуть, ну или хотя бы не терять сознание от их вида (не касается слабонервных, 

беременных и обладателей различных насекомофобий), однако стоит помнить, что при таком 

климате не только кокосы становятся огромных размеров. Например, таракан, который 

так полюбил российскую вентиляцию и маленькие кухоньки, достигает тут размеров до 10 

сантиметров. Это рыже-коричневое усатое чудовище в Гоа больше похоже на жука, который 

попав к вам в дом, вполне может разбудить своим топаньем людей с богатым воображением. 

И, в общем, с ними можно было бы нормально сосуществовать, не имей они крыльев. Для 

российского человека таракан с размахом крыльев как у бабочки, вызывает священный 

ужас и настоящую панику. Они любят подстерегать ничего не подозревающих граждан в 

туалетах или на уютном крылечке. Однако, несмотря на свой ужасающи вид, они абсолютно 

миролюбивы и послушно изгоняются веником или мелками от тараканов, которые продаются в любом супермаркете. 

Следующее известное нам насекомое – муравей. Видов их тут предостаточно: маленькие, почти незаметные и полупрозрачные, 

обычные черные и гиганты своего насекомьего мира муравьев, которые кажутся увеличенными копиями своих собратьев. Все они 

доставляют массу неудобств: бегают по дому, забираются к вам в постель, кусают, поедают неубранные запасы еды, крошки, а иногда 

и ваше жилище. Для того, чтобы как можно реже с ними встречаться, нужно соблюдать несколько простых правил: не оставлять 

еду в открытом виде (полиэтиленовые пакетики для остатков печенюшек и другой сдобы, все остальное в холодильник), проводить 

почаще влажную уборку (так вы избавитесь от неучтенных крошек), ну и различные аналоги дихлофоса на тот случай, если они решили 

полакомиться вашими стенами. 

В гости к вам могут попасть и пауки, если у вас в доме есть чем поживиться: комары, мухи и другие 

мелкие насекомые. Самый распространенный и пугающий своими размерами – это банановый паук. У 

него сравнительно небольшое тело, размером в рублевую монетку и очень длинные конечности. Он 

слегка пушистый (не путать с мохнатыми тарантулами) и имеет серо-коричневую окраску. Несмотря 

на свой грозный вид, он совершенно безопасен и ужасно боится веников, поэтому опасаться за 

свои жизнь и здоровье вам не нужно. Остальные пауки похожи на русских лесных и выглядят не 

столь устрашающе. Главное, что нужно помнить, так это то, что все они совершенно безопасны и 

не агрессивны. 

Следующим пунктом нашей увлекательной истории станет, как это ни странно, бабочка. В основном, они очень красивы, в своем 

многообразии и мы с удовольствием рассматриваем их в палисаднике. Но, вместе с заходом солнца, на охоту вылетают бомбардировщики 

в самолетном мире бабочек. Своими размерами они могут догонять некрупного голубя и летают довольно тяжело и неохотно. Впервые, 

когда я встретила это чудовище – оно было повержено и напоминало смятую тряпку, и только при детальном осмотре было установлено, 

что это все же бабочка. Хотя она может внести смятение в вашу душу и заставить повизжать как маленькую девочку, вы ей совершенно 

неинтересны и кусать вас незачем, да и нечем. Поэтому лучшее, что вы можете сделать – это фото на память. В дома они попадают 

крайне редко, так что шанс вашей встречи невелик. 

Конечно же тут есть и комары (москиты), которые появляются пищащей толпой перед 

закатом и укладываются спать после 23.00. Видимо по той причине, что времени у них не 

так много, они чрезвычайно агрессивны и стараются покусать все живое. Расписывать 

прелести комариных укусов думаю не стоит, поэтому не забывайте использовать 

спреи и крема от мелких вампиров, а на крыльце или балконе всегда можно зажечь 

противомоскитные спирали и палочки, которые также можно приобрести в любой лавке 

или супермаркете. 

Следующим, в нашем сборнике насекомых, стоит хорошо известный нашим бабушкам 

и дедушкам, а возможно и их потомкам – постельный клоп. Он таится в непросохших 

матрасах, отсыревшей после мунсуна мебели и дешевых автобусах. Если вы нарвались 

на них в транспорте, то остается вам только посочувствовать, а если вы обнаружили 

их в матрасе – срочно несите его на солнце, клопы не любят солнце, жару и сухое жилище. Укусы их похожи на комариные, однако 

чешутся гораздо дольше и отказываются быстро проходить. Для облегчения своего состояния и во избежание расчеса конечности 

насквозь, достаточно смочить место укуса содой. 

И последнее, на чем бы хотелось остановиться – это клещи. Клещи делятся на две подгруппы: первая – это та, что любит животный 

мир (наверняка вы сможете их увидеть на любой местной собаке) и вторая, которой по душе людская кровь. Они не настолько опасны, 

как, скажем, в России, но некоторые из них являются переносчиками таких малоприятных болезней, как брюшной тиф или малярия. 

Поэтому, желательно, конечно, иметь прививки при поездках в страны Азии, но и периодические осмотры себя и родственников смогут 

вовремя выявить клеща и обратиться в клинику. 

Мир насекомых в Индии разнообразен и удивителен, поэтому, если вы не любитель всего мелкого, жужжащего, пищащего и летающего, 

то стоит запастись противомоскитной сеткой, а крыльцо заботливо обвести мелком от тараканов и других насекомых. Хотя даже 

несмотря на все предосторожности, готовьтесь ежедневно стряхивать с себя нечто ползающее (для улучшения своего сна и нервной 

системы, совершенно необязательно рассматривать кто это был).
