Hachatzer –
The Jerusalem chef
restaurant celebrates
10 years
S
ome restaurants know how
to provide an all-inclusive
dining experience. Hachatzer
is one of them, with a Jerusalem
ambience, pleasant hospitality and wholly
unique dishes.
Hachatzer, which is currently marking its 10th
anniversary, has already become a landmark of
the Jerusalem mythos. The restaurant opened in
2007 in one of the more unusual buildings preserved
from the old railway station. The structure’s design is
a perfect visual representation of the distinctiveness of the
restaurant, its chef, Moti Ohana and his partner Moshe Cohen.
The restaurant is especially noteworthy due to its warm
atmosphere and liveliness. Diners find both the comforts of
home cooking and an uncompromising culinary experience of
the highest standards.
Chef Moti Ohana is a graduate of Paris’ Cordon Bleu cuisine program,
has a wealth of gastronomic understanding and 20 years of culinary
experience in Israel and abroad. He began his career in Jerusalem,
afterwards honing his craft in chef restaurants in Australia. Five years
later he found himself back in Jerusalem as chef of Chakra. He then
opened Hachatzer, which serves gourmet chef dishes specializing in
roasted choice meats, stews and fresh fish.
Diners flock to the restaurant not only for chef Ohana’s gourmet
dishes but also for Ohana himself, who takes the time to leave the
confines of the open kitchen to greet guests, inquiring about their
dining experience. Most diners know Ohana well, as this restaurant’s
guests come back again and again. Hachatzer is always full, so it’s
recommended to make reservations well in advance.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, chef Moti Ohana has created a
new menu comprised of ‘Jerusalem Kitchen’ dishes with seasonal
ingredients and organic vegetables. The new menu also has plenty
of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes.
