on Waveney Heritage Centre Events!
What a fine selection of events we’ve had since September—both entertaining
and educational. Feedback from audiences has been warm
and appreciative. It’s really great to see local faces appearing.
Naturally we’ve also had our fingers firmly crossed that our principle
means of raising funds should a financial success too, but we have averaged
50 people at events so far and numbers have been climbing
steadily. I breathed a sigh of relief this morning when advance bookings
for Mark Cocker (our most costly speaker yet) reached break
even. We can seat 75 people and so far tickets have been available on
the door but I’m looking forward to being able to put a Sold Out sign
on the notice board sometime in the New Year!
The main event for the festive season is our Christmas show
‘Our Christmas Past’
on Friday 7th. December with Rough at the Edges
which will be an evening of some unusual acapella carols - though
with a healthy dose of things to join in with, as well as some entertaining
readings from ‘RoughCast Theatre *star* Simon Evans and a free
wassail bowl with mince pies. Unmissable!
A full New Year programme will appear on the noticeboard but make a
date in your diary for ‘The Mardling Acre’ on February 20th. with master
storyteller Hugh Lupton which is in turns funny, frightening,
bawdy, playful and, in at least one case, deeply moving.

We are working closely with the excellent Norfolk Record Office to
develop our archive in line with national standards.
The range of groups using the building has widened considerably
We have some superb support from volunteers but could always
use more help. What skills or interests can you lend?
