Obiekt zakłada przeniesienie funkcji Żyrardowskiego
Centrum Kultury do nowo zaprojektowanego budynku zlokalizowanego
przy ul. Nowy Świat 7. Położony w miejscu, które
w świadomości mieszkańców kojarzone jest jako centrum,
będzie stanowił najważniejszy punkt wszystkich działań
kulturowych w mieście.
Głównym założeniem projektu było stworzenie obiektu,
który wkomponowałby się w tkankę urbanistyczną, architektoniczną
i społeczną Żyrardowa, zapewniając dostęp do
kultury (w tym wyższej) wszystkim mieszkańcom miasta.
Budynek został zaprojektowany jako obiekt Centrum Kultury
z pełnym zapleczem teatralnym. Główna sala widowiskowa
za pomocą przeszkleń, umożliwia poczucie korelacji dwóch
największych wartości krajobrazowych w mieście – dawnej
zabudowy z czerwonej cegły oraz wszechobecnej zieleni
Miasta Ogrodu.
The Spinning Mill Culture Center in Żyrardów
The aim of the project is to relocate all functions of the
Żyrardów Center of Culture to the newly planned Linen
Spinning Mill Center located at 7 Nowy Świat Street. The
location has been selected by a careful choice as it is a part of
the strict center of the Old Linen Mill, a place that forever will
be associated with the inception and the history of the town
and is intended to host all cultural events and undertakings.
The main goal of the project was to create a facility that would
blend into the architectural, urban and social fabric of the city
of Żyrardów and become the home of culture at all its levels
and for all the inhabitants of the city.
The building was designed as a culture center with all the
„back of the house” theater capacity. The three glass walls of
the main audience hall offer the correlation of the two main
architectural and scenic backdrops – the red brick buildings
and the surrounding greenery present in all places of this
Garden-City.
