Hello all you FABULOUS people out there. Are you enjoying the spring weather? It is<br />
beautiful up here in the mountains, flowers are blooming, the days are perfect and the<br />
nights just a little chilly. I had planted about 60 new Lilly bulbs a few weeks ago and<br />
was just outside counting the ones that had started coming up. This morning I counted<br />
34……so hopefully the rest will come back as well.<br />
It is amazing how beautiful the mountains are and what we can learn from nature. If you<br />
can just stay in the moment and look at nature it is very relaxing. As many of you know<br />
I volunteer at the Idyllwild Forest Service Ranger station. I really enjoy what I am learning<br />
about my surroundings and helping people pick out the perfect hike for them.<br />
I have now also become a volunteer for the US Forest Service Fire Lookout tower host.<br />
In doing this I will be in a lookout tower overlooking the forest and watch for smoke.<br />
I have gone through the training and there is a lot to know about our forest. So you<br />
should come up to Idyllwild sometime and do some<br />
exploring on our hiking trails and see all the beauty around.<br />
Don’t take yourself too seriously is a little warning we sometimes need. Too often we grit our teeth, put<br />
on a serious face, and trudge off to do battle with the world. After all, AIDS is very serious business.<br />
Before we know it, our sense of humor is out the window. People annoy us. Little irritations<br />
build up. Days slip away and we forget to do the things that give us pleasure. We<br />
forget to have fun. We’re busy preparing for tomorrow and not living today. All that really<br />
counts is how we live today.<br />
So let’s not take ourselves too seriously. Let’s remember to poke fun at ourselves and have<br />
fun. Let’s remember to pay attention to the world around us. As we do, we can take a deep<br />
breath, sigh, and remember that living with AIDS is more manageable one day at a time!<br />
