about
rolf prima:
every rolf prima wheel is carefully hand-built
using a painstaking build process that enables
our wheels to run true longer without the need
for constant attention. a machine built wheel
simply cannot compete with the skill of a wheel
builder’s hand to build a truly light, aerodynamic
and durable wheel with uniform tensions.
Our attention to every aspect of the process,
from hand building to customer service,
makes us stand out. we know that support is
important and that’s why we offer a strong
warranty and factory service and our HerO
crash protection plan.
2
experTise
The science
durability, aerodynamics, stiffness, weight and
strength are major factors in wheel selection. in
addition to paired spokes, there are several rolf
prima patented design technologies that combine
to give rolf prima wheel systems their superior
performance.
Paired Spokes – Our paired spoke
technology broke new ground when it was
introduced in 1996. bringing the spokes to the
rim in pairs neutralizes the left and right outward
pulling forces allowing us to build with fewer
spokes. fewer spokes and lighter rims help create
increased aerodynamics and faster wheels.
Jacketed Nipple Design – the
deeper the rim, the more a spoke must bend along
its path to the hub flange. Our patented Jacketed
nipple moves the bend of the spoke
away from the high stress area
and increases spoke life significantly.
Self-Aligning Nipple – this
allows the nipple to rotate in a ball and socket
configuration to minimize bending in
the spoke and increase spoke life.
in an era of automation and mechanized assembly, hand-built wheels
are increasingly rare, especially ones built in the us. building light
weight wheels that can withstand the power of sprinters, the daring of
mountain bikers and the elements of ‘cross is not straightforward; its
the combination of science, art and technology.
rolf prima is a team of cyclists who design, test, build and most
importantly ride. being a small company helps. we’ve put together a
team that breathes cycling and exhales ideas. it is this focus that has
enabled us to develop technologies and designs to propel you forward.
rolf prima. we’re at the front and we’re pulling hard.
Differential Flange Diameter –
Our patented oversize non-drive differential flange
provides the leverage to transmit drive torque in
the rear wheel to the non-drive spokes, thereby
increasing the number of torque absorbing spokes.
Dish Reducing Design – this
patented technology increases the bracing angle of
the drive side spokes to improve wheel stiffness.
Delta Rim Technology – in
skydiving, the delta track is the fastest position for
gaining forward airspeed. Our Delta profile takes
that cue using increased width and sidewall shaping
to improve airflow and stability in straight-on and
crosswind situations. this wider rim is
not just faster, but
the additional tire
support improves
cornering and
handling in all
riding conditions.
aerodynamics affect more than just speed. Our
the tdf line has been the heart of our carbon line from the start and
what our pros race to the top podium spots. but it’s not only professionals
who will benefit from the countless design, development and testing hours
that went into the creation of our delta rim technology. it is anyone who
rides them. introduced in 2012 and expanded to our new tdf4 sl in 2013,
our Delta rim profile improves every aspect of the ride from crosswind
stability to weight, handling and outright speed.
you can have it all. the ares wheels provide the convenience of clincher
provide exceptional braking power and modulation. ares wheels come in
three rim depths and can be ordered separately allowing riders to get the
