Course Screen<strong>in</strong>g Committee from 2011 onwards.<br />
5. Shifted the course HFN – 606, Food Hygiene and Sanitation (2-0-2) from VII semester<br />
to VI semester for extension elective students and also <strong>in</strong> its place sift HEX – 524,<br />
Electronic Journalism (1-0-6) from VI to VII semester.<br />
6. Revised the Ph.D. courses of all five departments under Hal<strong>in</strong>a School of Home<br />
Science as per IV Deans’ Committee Recommendations and implementation from July<br />
2011.<br />
7. The course structures of M. Tech <strong>in</strong> Civil Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g (Transportation Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g),<br />
M.Tech. <strong>in</strong> Civil Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g (Structural Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g), M.Tech. <strong>in</strong> Civil Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g<br />

16. Bachelor of Art <strong>in</strong> convergent journalism was renamed to Bachelor of Art <strong>in</strong> Advertis<strong>in</strong>g<br />
& Pr<strong>in</strong>t Journalism (BA-APJ) and Courses / Syllabi were revised.<br />
17. B.Sc. <strong>in</strong> Multimedia, Animation & Graphic Design was renamed to B.Sc. <strong>in</strong> Animation &<br />
Visual Effects.<br />
18. Revised eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. <strong>in</strong> Theology: It was recommended that the revised<br />
eligibility criteria for Ph.D. <strong>in</strong> Theology shall be BD/ M.Div. with Masters Degree.<br />
19. The course code and course content of B.Sc. Ag. was modified with respect to the<br />
recommendations of 4th Deans Committee, ICAR.<br />
20. The course code <strong>in</strong> P.G. and Ph.D. programmes of Department of Soil Science was<br />
modified.<br />
21. The postgraduate programme of Department of Plant Pathology, Entomology and<br />
Plant Protection was re-structured.<br />
22. The course ‘Tractor and power unit (FMP 501)’ which was presently be<strong>in</strong>g offered <strong>in</strong><br />
the VI semester of B.Tech Agricultural Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g was shifted to the course<br />
curriculum of V semester where as the course ‘Field Operation and Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance of<br />
Tractors and Farm Mach<strong>in</strong>ery (FMP 503)’ was shifted to VI semester.<br />
23. It was resolved to rename the course offered for PG and Ph.D. programs, CHEM - 815<br />
‘Reaction Intermediates’ to ‘Molecular Rearrangement’<br />

The Former-Director – cum – Chief Forensic Scientist, Government of India, Dr. M. S.<br />
Rao have requested to <strong>in</strong>stitute an annual award “Laxmi Rao Memorial Award” <strong>in</strong> the<br />
memory of his wife Late Mrs. M. Laxmi Rao for girl student who comes first among girl<br />

University which shall be used for the purpose of this award.<br />

Visits & talks by alumni were held. Alumni Association always rema<strong>in</strong>s <strong>in</strong> contact with<br />
alumni/ae posted <strong>in</strong> various parts of the country and world. They help <strong>in</strong> the placement of<br />
the students. Dur<strong>in</strong>g the centenary celebration <strong>in</strong> December <strong>2010</strong>, there was one big meet<br />
of SHIATS Alumni’s <strong>in</strong> which Alumnis from all over the country and abroad gathered and<br />

The outstand<strong>in</strong>g sportspersons who have won Inter-College tournaments, State level<br />
meets and have represented the university are given honour certificates. TA/DA is given to<br />
College teams go<strong>in</strong>g for Inter-College tournaments. Participation <strong>in</strong> various competitions<br />
does not stand as a h<strong>in</strong>drance to the students’ academic sch<strong>edu</strong>le. Special care is taken to<br />
that effect, so that they are not jeopardised academically for their excellence <strong>in</strong> sports.<br />

Interested and eligible non teach<strong>in</strong>g staffs are given computer tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g by the Dept. of<br />
Computer Science of the University. It is a cont<strong>in</strong>uous process. Those non teach<strong>in</strong>g staff<br />
who wish to pursue higher studies they are permitted for it.<br />

34. Incentives to outstand<strong>in</strong>g sportspersons:<br />
The outstand<strong>in</strong>g sportspersons who have won Inter-College tournaments, State level<br />
meets and have represented the university are given honour certificates. TA/DA is given to<br />
College teams go<strong>in</strong>g for Inter-College tournaments. Participation <strong>in</strong> various competitions<br />
does not stand as a h<strong>in</strong>drance to the students’ academic sch<strong>edu</strong>le. Special care is taken to<br />
that effect, so that they are not jeopardised academically for their excellence <strong>in</strong> sports.<br />
35. Student achievements and awards:<br />
Several students have qualified competitive exam<strong>in</strong>ations like NET/GATE etc as given<br />
above.<br />
36. Activities of the Guidance and Counsell<strong>in</strong>g unit:<br />
The Cell has been do<strong>in</strong>g admirable job by motivat<strong>in</strong>g and guid<strong>in</strong>g our eligible f<strong>in</strong>al year<br />
students to seek placement <strong>in</strong> reputed companies.<br />
37. Placement services provided to students:<br />
Placement cell is appreciably work<strong>in</strong>g hard to provide placement to outgo<strong>in</strong>g f<strong>in</strong>al year<br />
students of the university.<br />

Ltd., John Deere Equipment Pvt. Ltd., Punjab Tractors Ltd. (Swaraj), Harrison Malayalam<br />
Ltd., Ankur Seeds Pvt. Ltd., ELDER Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Escorts Tractors Pvt. Ltd.,<br />
Indian Army, Sasken Communication Technologies and Indian Navy.<br />
In the year 2011-<strong>12</strong> about 63 companies visited for placement and about 54.2 % students<br />
registered got placement.<br />
38. Development programmes for non-teach<strong>in</strong>g staff:<br />
Interested and eligible non teach<strong>in</strong>g staffs are given computer tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g by the Dept. of<br />
Computer Science of the University. It is a cont<strong>in</strong>uous process .Those non teach<strong>in</strong>g staff<br />
who wish to pursue higher studies they are permitted for it.<br />
39. Healthy practices of the <strong>in</strong>stitution<br />
Encourag<strong>in</strong>g and motivat<strong>in</strong>g the faculty to actively <strong>in</strong>volve <strong>in</strong> research activities, attend<strong>in</strong>g<br />
sem<strong>in</strong>ars, present<strong>in</strong>g papers and organiz<strong>in</strong>g sem<strong>in</strong>ars <strong>in</strong> the University. The discipl<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong><br />
the University is strictly ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed by the Director Adm<strong>in</strong>istration and members of the<br />
proctorial board and anti ragg<strong>in</strong>g cell due to which there are least cases of confrontation<br />
reported .<br />

MoU with Asian Institute of Technology for strengthen<strong>in</strong>g partnership and long term<br />
collaboration for Unified Bachelor’s – Master’s Program, Short and long term faulty and<br />

I. Younger faculty is encouraged to do their Ph.D. and Higher Studies with<strong>in</strong> the<br />

III. Dr. ChaiyapholKaewprakaisaengkul, Adjunct Faculty, Asian Institute of<br />
Technology, Bangkok visited at SHIATS on 2nd July 2011 to teach a course under<br />
Unified Bachelor-Master Program from 2nd July, 2011 to 18th July 2011.<br />
IV. Delegation from Tanzania led by Hon'ble M<strong>in</strong>ister of Water, Mr. G. H. Lwenge,<br />
<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Mr. Christopher N. Sayi, Permanent Secretary, M<strong>in</strong>istry of Water, Mr.<br />
ArchardMutalemwa, Chief Executive officer, Dar-es- Salaam Water Supply, Mr.<br />
Emmanuel Munda, Act<strong>in</strong>g Assistant Director, Human Resourse Management,<br />
Tanzania visited SHIATS on 26th July, 2011regard<strong>in</strong>g higher <strong>edu</strong>cation and<br />
tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g of Tanzanian nationals and explore the possibilities of association and<br />
collaboration between SHIATS and M<strong>in</strong>istry of Water, Tanzania through a<br />
Memorandum of Understand<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
V. Dr. Surya Pandey, International Research Relations Director, Waikato Institute of<br />
Technology (WINTEC), New Zealand visited SHIATS from 7th August, 2011 to 9th<br />
August, 2011 <strong>in</strong> order to explore the possibilities of association between SHIATS<br />
and WINTEC, New Zealand <strong>in</strong> terms of shar<strong>in</strong>g credits for under graduate and<br />
post graduate programmes.<br />
VI. Dr. Othman I.A. Abubakar, Counselor of Education and Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, Libyan People's<br />
Bureau visited SHIATS on 18th August 2011 to further discuss the possibilities of<br />
faculty and student exchange.<br />
VII. Mr. Peter James Davey, Global Development Director, Innovation Park, New<br />
Zealand visited SHIATS <strong>in</strong>stitute to prepare "Pre-FeasibilityStudy <strong>Report</strong> for<br />
Moderniz<strong>in</strong>g &Develop<strong>in</strong>g a Dairy Farm" at SHIATS from 8th to 9th October, 2011<br />
VIII. Prof. Kattesh V Katti, Director, University of Missouri Cancer Nanotechnology<br />
Platform visited SHIATS on 7th & 8th November, 2011to deliver a lecture on<br />
Applications of Green Nanotechnology <strong>in</strong> medic<strong>in</strong>e and biotechnology' and to<br />
explore the possibilities collaboration between SHIATS and University of Missouri,<br />
USA.<br />
IX. Professor Dr. G.P. Shivakoti, Coord<strong>in</strong>ator, Agricultural Systems & Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand Visited SHIATS on 3rd January,<br />
20<strong>12</strong> for tak<strong>in</strong>g lectures under the Unified Bachelor-Master Programme between<br />
SHIATS and AIT.<br />
