3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction:
1. Course code and contents of (M.Sc.) Agronomy and Ph.D. Agronomy programmes
were changed as per IV Deans’ Committee Report, ICAR, New Delhi.
2. Course code in M.Sc. Ag. Horticulture and Ph.D. Horticulture were changed as per the
recommendation of Course Screening Committee.
3. Course code in Ph.D. programmes in the Dept. of Genetics & Plant Breeding and SST,
Plant Protection, Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Extension and
Communication were changed as per the recommendation of Course Screening
Committee.
4. Changed the course code in B.Sc. Ag. programme as per the recommendation of
Course Screening Committee from 2011 onwards.
5. Shifted the course HFN – 606, Food Hygiene and Sanitation (2-0-2) from VII semester
to VI semester for extension elective students and also in its place sift HEX – 524,
Electronic Journalism (1-0-6) from VI to VII semester.
6. Revised the Ph.D. courses of all five departments under Halina School of Home
Science as per IV Deans’ Committee Recommendations and implementation from July
2011.
7. The course structures of M. Tech in Civil Engineering (Transportation Engineering),
M.Tech. in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering), M.Tech. in Civil Engineering
(Surveying Engineering), M.Tech. in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering &
Management) were modified.
8. The recommended educational tour for P.G & M.Phil. students was approved by the
Academic Council.
9. The recommended educational tour for the students of M.Sc. Forensic Science was
approved by the Academic Council.
10. The recommendation to include a Deficiency Course TBS-610 Synopitc Gospels
(Greek) for M.Th. in New Testament Programme of 2010 Batch was approved by the
Academic Council.

11. It was Resolved to recommend for restructuring and revision of syllabi and courses of
the following programmes (applicable from the session 2011-2012)
a. Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communication
b. B.Sc. Multimedia, Animation & Graphics Design
c. Diploma in Television & Video Production
d. MA in Mass Communication
e. M.Sc. in Media Technology
f. MBA in Media and Event Management
g. PG Diploma in TV Journalism and Video Production
h. Diploma in Music
12. The nomenclature of M.Sc Food Science & Technology was changed to M.Sc. Food
Technology.
13. B.Sc. (Hons) Microbiology & Microbial Technology and B.Sc. (Hons) Biochemistry &
Biochemical Technology was merged to B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology with specialization
in Molecular & Cellular Technology / Microbial Technology / Bioprocess Technology.
14. The no. of seats were increased from 60 to 90 in B.Tech Civil Engineering and B.Tech
Mechanical Engineering.
15. Eligibility for Admission in M. Sc. GIS & Remote Sensing : The eligibility for admission
in M.Sc. GIS & Remote Sensing shall be B.Sc. Agriculture (4 years), B.Sc. Forestry (4
years) / M.sc. Environmental Science / Geo Physics / Soil Science / Natural Resource
Management with effect from academic session 2011 – 2012
16. Bachelor of Art in convergent journalism was renamed to Bachelor of Art in Advertising
& Print Journalism (BA-APJ) and Courses / Syllabi were revised.
17. B.Sc. in Multimedia, Animation & Graphic Design was renamed to B.Sc. in Animation &
Visual Effects.
18. Revised eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. in Theology: It was recommended that the revised
eligibility criteria for Ph.D. in Theology shall be BD/ M.Div. with Masters Degree.
19. The course code and course content of B.Sc. Ag. was modified with respect to the
recommendations of 4th Deans Committee, ICAR.
20. The course code in P.G. and Ph.D. programmes of Department of Soil Science was
modified.
21. The postgraduate programme of Department of Plant Pathology, Entomology and
Plant Protection was re-structured.
22. The course ‘Tractor and power unit (FMP 501)’ which was presently being offered in
the VI semester of B.Tech Agricultural Engineering was shifted to the course
curriculum of V semester where as the course ‘Field Operation and Maintenance of
Tractors and Farm Machinery (FMP 503)’ was shifted to VI semester.
23. It was resolved to rename the course offered for PG and Ph.D. programs, CHEM - 815
‘Reaction Intermediates’ to ‘Molecular Rearrangement’

24. It was resolved to revise the syllabus of BSc. ZBC, LSCFS and PCFS for the semester
I to VI offered by the department to be at par with the courses offered for BSc. PCM,
PCB and PCZ from July 2011.
25. The Course Structure of B. Sc. Animal Husbandry & Dairying was modified.
26. The proposal to add M.A. with M.Sc. in Anthropology was approved.

1. “Laxmi Rao Memorial Award” for Meritorious Girl Student of M.Sc. Forensic
Science
The Former-Director – cum – Chief Forensic Scientist, Government of India, Dr. M. S.
Rao have requested to institute an annual award “Laxmi Rao Memorial Award” in the
memory of his wife Late Mrs. M. Laxmi Rao for girl student who comes first among girl
students of M.Sc. Forensic Science of our University. He donated Rs.1,00,000/- to the
University which shall be used for the purpose of this award.
2. Conferring of Honoris Causa Doctor of Philosophy in Management on Mr. Shiv
Shankar Singh.
Mr. Shiv Shankar Singh in view of his vast experience in administration of education
system, Coordination, Project Formulation, Evaluation & Monitoring, Center State
Relationship, Rural and Agricultural Developments, It was resolved to confer him with
Honoris Causa Doctor of Philosophy in Management. Beside this experience, Mr. Shiv
Shankar Singh has worked in various departments including Central Agricultural
Ministry and Higher Education.
3. Ms Navodita Maurice awarded Third Prize in poster presentation in the National
symposium on Integrated Farming Systems on Sustainable Agriculture- Challenges
and Opportunities, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi 19-21 February 2011.
4. Prof. (Dr.) Mrs. Neera A. Herbert received the award entitled “The Best Citizens of
India Award 2011” by International Publishing House New Delhi in Jan 2011.
5. Dr. Veeru Prakash awarded Young Scientist Award – 2010 for the contribution in the
field of Plant Biochemistry conferred by Bioved Research Society, Allahabad.

The Directorate of Extension is involved in community services through its training
programmes and onsite demonstration of various implements and machinery at the
farmers field.
The School of Non Formal Education and Continuing Education is also involved in
community development by training the rural women in various fields of cooking,
stitching, farming and various household activities.
Farmers are benefitted through Radio Adan and Farmer’s helpline.
Hays Memorial Mission Hospital of the University provides medical facilities to near
by people. It organises free medical checkup camps for the people of economically
weaker section of the society.

Assessment of teachers by the students is conducted every year for all the courses and
reviewed by the concerned Head of the Department for taking suitable action. Such
feedbacks were communicated to the respective faculty members also.

The whole process of admissions and examination results, Issue of certificates is
computerized.

Strengthening of the infrastructural facilities in almost all the buildings was done. Increase
in infrastructure facilities is a continuous process based on plans made earlier and priority
requirements of the particular year.
27. Technology upgradation:
New lab equipments and various farm machinery equipments were procured.
28. Computer and internet access and training to teachers and students:
Computers and internet facilities have been provided to teachers in their offices itself
because most of the courses include computer education in their syllabus, therefore all
students are well acquainted of computer and internet uses. If it is required for computer
training, labs in the computer department are used for it.
29. Financial aid to students:
Financial assistance to students is provided in terms of scholarship to the financially
weaker section of the students. Yeshu darbar scholarship from the university with several
other government scholarships are provided to the students.
30. Activities and support from the Alumni Association:
Visits & talks by alumni were held. Alumni Association always remains in contact with
alumni/ae posted in various parts of the country and world. They help in the placement of
the students. During the centenary celebration in December 2010, there was one big meet
of SHIATS Alumni’s in which Alumnis from all over the country and abroad gathered and
shared with each other throughout the day. Some of the Alumnis from abroad were
specially honoured by the, Pro. Dr. S. B. Lal Pro Vice Chancellor and President Alumni
Association SHIATS. Alumnis from abroad assured for their maximum support in
placement of our final year students. Registration of Alumnis continued throughout the
centenary celebration

34. Incentives to outstanding sportspersons:
The outstanding sportspersons who have won Inter-College tournaments, State level
meets and have represented the university are given honour certificates. TA/DA is given to
College teams going for Inter-College tournaments. Participation in various competitions
does not stand as a hindrance to the students’ academic schedule. Special care is taken to
that effect, so that they are not jeopardised academically for their excellence in sports.

of Resources and quality of life’’ organized by Halina school of Home Science,

Ms. Richa, student of M.Sc. Forensic Science (2009-2011) was awarded from “Laxmi
Rao Memorial Award” in year 2011.

The Cell has been doing admirable job by motivating and guiding our eligible final year

Indian Army, Sasken Communication Technologies and Indian Navy. In the year 2010-11
about 65 companies visited for placement and about 48.8 % students registered got
placement.
38. Development programmes for non-teaching staff:
Interested and eligible non teaching staffs are given computer training by the Dept. of
Computer Science of the University. It is a continuous process. Those non teaching staff
who wish to pursue higher studies they are permitted for it.
39. Healthy practices of the institution
Encouraging and motivating the faculty to actively involve in research activities, attending
seminars, presenting papers and organizing seminars in the University. The discipline in
the University is strictly maintained by the Director Administration and members of the
proctorial board and anti ragging cell due to which there are least cases of confrontation
reported .

(Process & Food Engineering) as B. Tech (Food Technology) follows with effect from July,
2012 batch.
6. Change was made in course codes for Food chemistry (CHEM 563) to BCBT 509 and
Advanced food chemistry (CHEM 717) to BCBT 708 respectively .
7. It was resolved to change name of M.Sc. Biochemistry (Plant / Animal) degree to M.Sc.
Biochemistry, 2012 session onward.
8. As per fourth Dean’s committee recommendation the course title of new course curriculum of
B. Tech. Dairy Technology – IV semester was changed from Environmental science (SES 415)
to Environmental studies (ENV 417) with credit hours of 3(3-0-0).

33. In view of the change in the name of the Department of Biochemistry & Bioprocess Technology
to Department of Biochemistry & Biochemical Engineering, it was resolved to modify in the
course code for courses being offered from the department for various UG, PG and Doctoral
programs w. e. f. 2012.

34. It was resolved to change the course title “Food Bio-technology (MBGE-455)” offered in B.Sc.
(Food Tech.) – 3rd Semester to “Introduction to Food Bio-Technology (MCE-405) with same
credit hours of (3-0-0)”. from Academic Session, 2012-13.
35. As per AICTE and GBTU guidelines it was resolved to split the course Syllabus for the course
PHY-312 (Engineering Physics) offered in various branches of B. Tech. in to two semesters
(semester-I &II) instead of the existing one semester w.e.f. academic session 2013-14.
36. It was resolved that M. Sc. students shall take dissertation in their fourth semester and there
shall be no course work and specialization from the session July 2013
37. The UG students in their first semester shall take the first unit of each course of their
programme as the bridge course.
38. It was resolved introducing two courses for Ph.D. program in Mathematics & Statistics
as course work.
39. It was also resolved the course Numerical Analysis (MAS-862) made compulsory for
M.Sc. mathematics in 3rd semester and the course Harmonic Analysis (MAS-807) as
optional course for M.Sc. Mathematics in 3rd semester.
40. It was resolved to revise the Syllabus of B.SC. LSCFS /PCFS and M.Sc. Forensic
Science, and include a Bridge Course in the first semester Course of B.Sc. LSCFS

Session 2013-2014.
46. It was resolved to exclude the statistical courses MAS-711, MAS-712 of M.sc Botany
from the M.Sc. Botany programme.
47. It was resolved to revise course content along with new course codes in the course
curriculum of BBA (Hons) programme. It was also resolved to introduce dissertation &
thesis work in BBA (Hons) VII Semester effective from next academic session July
2013, total credit hours for BBA (Hons) has been revised to 175 credit hours across 8
semesters.
48. It was resolved to change deficiency course of “Basics of Agriculture” BAM-201 to
“Introductory Agriculture” AGRN-312 from current session.

The Directorate of Extension is involved in community services through its training
programmes and onsite demonstration of various implements and machinery at the
farmers field.
The School of Non Formal Education and Continuing Education is also involved in
community development by training the rural women in various fields of cooking,
stitching, farming and various household activities.
8 days advance training on salwar suits making was conducted by a professional tailor
from 12-19th October 2011 at MSCNE.
The beautician class was started in October 2011 at Asha Gramin College, Bargohana
Village
Rural Community Development Service Centre (RCDSC) -In the Year 2011-2012, the
Centre continued working with rural farmers, women, youths and children who reside in
30 villages of Jasra, Chaka and Kaundyala Block of Jamna par region, Allahabad, with
Department of Rural Women Development and rural organizations including NGO,
Asha Smile Trust (AST), Allahabad Organic Agricultural Cooperative (AOAC), SHGs
and Youth Clubs
In year 2011-12, 8 trainings were organized for the SHG farmer members to establish
the technologies in production, post-harvest process, and marketing system with the
Allahabad Organic Agricultural Cooperative (AOAC).
Special Course in Sustainable Agriculture (SCSA) is offered by Makino School of
Continuing & Non–formal Education for rural youth to develop the skills of organic
farming and to increase their leadership skills. In 2011-12 SCSA recruited 12 youths
who worked in the villages for rural extension work with NGOs from all over India and

In year 2011-12, 8 trainings were organized for the SHG farmer members to establish
the technologies in production, post-harvest process, and marketing system with the
Allahabad Organic Agricultural Cooperative (AOAC).
Farmers are benefitted through Radio Adan and Farmer’s helpline.

Strengthening of the infrastructural facilities in almost all the buildings was done. Increase
in infrastructure facilities is a continuous process based on plans made earlier and priority
requirements of the particular year.

New softwares, lab equipments and various farm machinery and equipments were
procured.
28. Computer and internet access and training to teachers and students:
Computers and internet facilities have been provided to teachers in their offices itself.
Most of the courses include computer education in their syllabus, therefore all students
are well acquainted of computer and internet uses. If it is required for computer training,
labs in the computer department are used for it.

Financial assistance to students is provided in terms of scholarship to the financially
weaker section of the students. Yeshu darbar scholarship from the university with several
other government scholarships are provided to the students.

Visits & talks by alumni were held. Alumni Association always remains in contact with
alumni/ae posted in various parts of the country and world. They help in the placement of

34. Incentives to outstanding sportspersons:
The outstanding sportspersons who have won Inter-College tournaments, State level
meets and have represented the university are given honour certificates. TA/DA is given to
College teams going for Inter-College tournaments. Participation in various competitions
does not stand as a hindrance to the students’ academic schedule. Special care is taken to
that effect, so that they are not jeopardised academically for their excellence in sports.

Several students have qualified competitive examinations like NET/GATE etc as given
above.

The Cell has been doing admirable job by motivating and guiding our eligible final year

38. Development programmes for non-teaching staff:
Interested and eligible non teaching staffs are given computer training by the Dept. of
Computer Science of the University. It is a continuous process .Those non teaching staff
who wish to pursue higher studies they are permitted for it.
39. Healthy practices of the institution
Encouraging and motivating the faculty to actively involve in research activities, attending
seminars, presenting papers and organizing seminars in the University. The discipline in
the University is strictly maintained by the Director Administration and members of the
proctorial board and anti ragging cell due to which there are least cases of confrontation
reported .

Emmanuel Munda, Acting Assistant Director, Human Resourse Management,
Tanzania visited SHIATS on 26th July, 2011regarding higher education and
training of Tanzanian nationals and explore the possibilities of association and
collaboration between SHIATS and Ministry of Water, Tanzania through a
Memorandum of Understanding.
V. Dr. Surya Pandey, International Research Relations Director, Waikato Institute of
Technology (WINTEC), New Zealand visited SHIATS from 7th August, 2011 to 9th
August, 2011 in order to explore the possibilities of association between SHIATS
and WINTEC, New Zealand in terms of sharing credits for under graduate and
post graduate programmes.
VI. Dr. Othman I.A. Abubakar, Counselor of Education and Training, Libyan People's
Bureau visited SHIATS on 18th August 2011 to further discuss the possibilities of
