The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.
MONTHLY MEETINGS ARE HELD
AT 6.30 P.M. ON THE 3 RD TUESDAY
OF EVERY MONTH AT YOSEMITE
FALLS CAFE, 4278 W. ASHLAN AVE,
FRESNO CALIFORNIA. INTERESTED

ATTEND THE MEETINGS AND MEET
OUR MEMBERS.
Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is
defined in Article III, section 1 of the
bylaws in part as follows: "Membership in
Central Valley Corvettes shall be open to all
Corvette owners who are sponsored by a
member in good standing. Additionally, a
prospective member must, within a three
month period , attend two consecutive
meetings, participate in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two- thirds vote of membership present at
any general membership meeting by secret
ballot
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all
members must be a member of the
association providing club liability insurance
for CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings
or two sanctioned activities.
CVC membership dues are $67.00 plus an
initiation fee of $35.00. Membership entitles
two members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

The year 2015 is half over and so far so
good for our club. Welcome Art & Nancy
White and Rick & Betty Helm to Central
Valley Corvettes. Membership is growing,
runs are happening, and turnout at the
general meetings is great.
At the June meeting we discussed the
club logo. Some members would like
“Fresno” included in the logo to
differentiate our club from other clubs in
the country also called Central Valley
Corvettes. I did some research and there
are quite a few clubs with “Valley” in
their name but I did not find another club
named Central Valley Corvettes.
The board, with the help of Charlie
Fosnaugh and Andy Anderson, came up
with a couple different options and they
will be presented at the next general
meeting for a vote. Once we have that
decided the next step will be to work
with an embroidery shop and present the
membership with a selection of shirts,
caps and jackets they can order.
I’ve been doing some wheeling and
dealing and it looks like the cost of the
President’s Mystery Run is coming
down into the $400-450 range. I still
have a couple of things to finalize but I
will have the final cost by the August
meeting when payment will be due.
There are 18 cars signed up so far but
there is room for more. Those
Riverdale hotels do fill up pretty fast
though.
The run through the foothills with the
Corvettes of Fresno was a really neat
drive. Jim and Joan Kozera put on a
great lunch with music included and
their hospitality is much appreciated.
What a wonderful couple they are.
If anyone has an old name tag with the
pin on the back and would like to
replace it with a new one with the
magnetic holder on the back, see Dick
Danielsen. He can order a new one for
you at a cost of $8.70.

Johnson were voted in as new members.
They will receive their New Member packet
at the June meeting.
Parliamentarian, Craig Hansen had nothing
new to report.
Sgt. of Arms, Chuck Laningham collected
$1.50 in badge fees.

General Meeting Minutes
May 19, 2015
The General Meeting was called to order
at 6:30 by President, Gary Pflepsen.
The minutes from the April meeting were
read by Secretary, Debby Anderson. A
motion to accept the minutes as read was
made by Leigh Ann Severance and
seconded by Lupe Dawson. Motion
carried.
Treasurer’s Report was given by Gary
Pflepsen in Mike Lebda’s absence.
VP of Activities, Skip Severance went over
the months runs and the leaders from
each run gave the report. He added three
new runs: July 11-19 is the River Run, Aug
31st is Hot August Nights and Sept 10-13 is
the Reno Tour.
VP of Public Relations/Membership, Dick
Danielsen gave the Birthday and
Anniversary report. He also let everyone
know that if the members with old badges
want new ones with the magnet backs,
they can order them from him at their
own expense. He welcomed visitors Tom
& Marci Jarvis and also welcomed Official
new members, Rick & Becky Helm as well
as Art & Nancy White.
The club was looking for someone to help
Charlie with the Newsletter & Becky Helm
volunteered.
New Business:
Club logo: Charlie brought several samples
so we could see what the new logo would
look like on shirts & hats. Once the club
decides on the logo, there will be more
information to follow.
The June Board Meeting was changed to
Thursday, June 25 th at Mike Lebda’s.
Next General Meeting will be June 16 th .
Next Board Meeting will be May 26 th at Gary
Pflepsen’s.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by
Jeff Levin & seconded by Scott Parkin.
Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 6:50.

SUNSHINE & CLOUDS

1. From Pam and Craig Hansen: their niece Emily graduated from Fresno State
with a degree in Marketing. Also, their granddaughter Bella choreographed
and acted in a production of Alice in Wonderland at her school. Bella is 13
years old….......and now for the vacation to Detroit where they visited the
Ford Museum and were privileged to see the presidential limos including the
one that President Reagan rode in and also the Lincoln Continental that
transported President Kennedy. They saw the actual chair that President
Lincoln was sitting in at the time of his assassination. The crown jewel of
their adventure was a drive over Mackinac Bridge to St. Ignace and a ferry
ride out to Mackinac Island for a three nite stay at the world famous Grand
Hotel. On the second evening it was the “titanic night”. Each guest drew a
name of a passenger complete with an autobiography so the guest could
determine who survived. They were served the same food the people in first
class ate on April 14, 1912. Shortly after the final course, the strobe lights
flickered. Ice rained down upon the guests. A large screen projected the
people who survived the crash of the titanic, but unfortunately Craig was not
a survivor. Pam did survive. Craig’s bones now rest 11,000 feet below sea
level. This was truly a special vacation.
2. I received a brief message from Emily Piercy that she is unable to attend the
meeting tonight. She was having surgery on her ring finger, right hand.

3. And now from our dear friends the Garrahan’s. Keith was not able to have
his knee replacement last week. The reason is there was a difference of
opinion on how long Keith needed to be off his blood thinner. Keith was very
disappointed but the surgery has been rescheduled. Also the good news in
the Garrison family – their dtr-in-law graduated summa-cum-laude in premed/biology.
She is on her way to medical school and will be leaving on
June 15 th with their little caravan of 3 cars for the trek across 9 states to
Pikeville. The bad news: After attending their dtr-in-laws graduation party,
many guests suffered with food poisoning. Sunday was spent recovering.
4. From Jeff Levine: Sarah’s brother was diagnosed with tongue cancer and a
complication of an aneurysm in his neck. He is under the care of Hospice. In
addition to her brother’s difficulties, Sarah’s brother-in-law learns he has
throat cancer and is being treated with radiation. Sarah begins her journey
home which is miserable. She is in the airport at Lubbock, Texas where
thunder storms and tornadoes hit. She is forced to spend the nite in Texas
where of course her luggage is lost. This was a very difficult time for Sarah
not to mention the sadness she was dealing with her families’ health issues.
Our hearts go out to Sarah and hopefully happiness will find a way to her. By
the way her Luggage was finally located.
5. Per Patricia Garrahan: a brief update on Freddy Fam’s grandson – little
Gabriel is having breathing problems, though his appetite has improved. He
has gained some weight but continues to deal with breathing issues that can
adversely affect his heart. Please keep him in your prayers.

On a recent run to Solvang the Miata Club was led by
Dick & Terry Johnson who had just purchased a Crystal Red
Convertible Corvette. They are the perspective CVC Members
we just approved at our May Meeting.
The Miata group was also followed up by Mike & Lynne
Henenfent in their Yellow Z06 Corvette!
It made for quite the conversation in their club and
I’m sure they got lots of looks on the way!
