REPS Experienced Teachers
REPS Experienced Teachers
Teacher Amy (IGCSE English Teacher)
Teacher Amy was born in Guyana but grew up in the USA. She has
taught at REPS for 7 years and she teaches English to the upper
secondary students. When she was a young girl, T. Amy’s mom told
her that she would become a teacher – mothers know everything.
Teacher Amy has a Master’s Degree in Education, a Cambridge
Delta 3 specializing in teaching Exam Classes, and she is about to
complete her Education Specialist Degree. T. Amy has a thirst for
knowledge and a strong desire to continuously challenge herself,
so in her free time when she’s not cooking, baking, or spending
time with her two lovely sons, she studies. It is also her reason for
continuing to teach at REPS. T. Amy loves working with her
students and sharing knowledge with them. She has a passion for
teaching and could not see herself doing any other job.
Kru Noot has been teaching at REPS since the beginning. Currently,
kru Noot teaches IGCSE First Language Thai. She has a master’s
degree in Thai Language and received 2 nd place honour, bachelor’s
degree in Education Administration from Suan Dusit University. Now
she is studying for a PhD in Education Administration at Burapha
University. Before coming to REPS she was a teacher at Thamasiri
School in Sattahip. Ever since she was young she wanted to become a
teacher. Kru Noot has been teaching at REPS for so long because she
enjoys the welfare at REPS compared to other schools. Also, she likes
the experience of working with a variety of different cultures from
around the globe. She claims that her favourite thing about REPS is
the students because she says that the students at REPS are much
better behaved than the students she has met in previous schools;
they are friendly to each other, teachers and the staff.
Kru Noot (Thai Director & IGCSE Thai Teacher)
Teacher P (Secondary Chinese Teacher)
Teacher P is our Chinese teacher, born in the South of China.
We commonly call him ‘Laoshi’ which means teacher in
Chinese. He has been a teacher here at REPS since 2011. REPS is
the first school Laoshi has taught in. He has always wanted to
be a teacher since he was a child because his father was also a
teacher. Laoshi says he decided to continue to work at REPS
because he enjoys how friendly and hardworking the students
are. Despite being a Chinese teacher, Laoshi has a bachelor
degree in Thai Language. When he’s not teaching he enjoys
going to the beach and his favourite thing to eat is durian, the
king of fruit .
REPS Experienced Teachers
Teacher Dean (Deputy Principal and Head of Primary)
Teacher Dean Johnston
Teacher Dean started teaching at REPS about 8 years
ago. He thinks that our school is more focused on
education and that all of the students here have
equal opportunities. T. Dean said that there are
many other schools with a Thai and English program
but in REPS everyone is getting the opportunity to
learn English. He thinks that every year we need to
change, and every year we have to be better than
the previous year. T. Dean’s hobbies are watching
football, playing sport and spending time with his
family (and staying away from children, he jokes).
T. Lindy started teaching in REPS in 2011. She loves
REPS and she thinks that REPS is getting better than
before, preparing itself to become a very good school.
T. Lindy presently teachers P1 and she adores her kids.
She is also the Deputy Head of Primary. She likes the
school because all the kids are happy. REPS is always
changing and the relationship between teachers and
kids is evolving. When T. Lindy is not working she likes
to draw, scrapbook, watch movies and take photographs.
We learned a secret about T. Lindy – she’s s big
fan of Robert Pattinson and the Twilight series
Teacher Lindy (P1 Teacher)
Teacher Bab (Primary Social Studies Teacher)
T. Bab loves to be a teacher and loves kids. She
started to teach at REPS in 2009. She thinks
education is getting better than before and is
making teachers improve the students to have a
lot of knowledge. She thinks that REPS has a
very nice environment, for example: trees and
the playground for children. Her hobby is to
prepare lessons and watch movies.
but he is doing a great job. He always wanted to be
a teacher ever since he was a child because he grew
loving to see teachers teach kids. The reason he still
continues to work at REPS is because he likes the
Book-a-ween
REPS Celebrates BOOK-A-WEEN
Halloween was a little different this year at Rayong English Programme School. It became
a special literary day where characters from books came to life! REPS students and
teachers dressed up as their favorite book characters and brought the book to read and
share with classmates. In preparation for the day, many students went to the REPS
Library looking for books to find ideas for their characters and costumes. Students and
parents helped make the original and unique outfits for many of the characters. The lively
and colorful Book-a-ween parade, directed by Principal Steve, took place after assembly
on Friday morning, October 30.
The book readings, stories, games, and sharing were done during the first two class
periods. Lower Secondary came to Nursery and Kindergarten while Upper Secondary
visited Primary to act out and read from their books. A variety of characters from books
came alive like the Avengers, Doraemon, Harry Potter, Goldilocks, Aladdin, Red Riding
Hood, Big Bad Wolf, Rumplestilskin, Mickey Mouse, Sponge Bob, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell,
Captain Hook, Snow White, Aladdin, and the Ninja Turtles among many others.
Kindergarten donations
Kindergarten donates to help local flood families.
We had an amazing family day at REPS Kindergarten and less than a week later areas of Ban Chang,
Rayong and Sattahip were deluged with rain that caused flooding in many local areas. REPS Kindergarten
teachers and students decided to collect money to help with emergency supplies as well as food, clothing
and personal needs for some families affected by the floods. Often standing on tiptoes to put their 1, 5 or
10 baht into the donation box, the children learned lessons about helping others. We collected close to
7000 baht and added extra money from Family Fun day to buy 35 uniforms and new shoes for children at
Watklongbangphai School Sattahip, Rayong. Our parents also helped by donating new items, school
backpacks, toys and many bags full of used clothing. A wonderful lesson was learned about how we can
help others.
New Shade Cover
What’ s
in Kindergarten?
When you visit the new Building
you will see the GIANT new shade
cover over the center play area. We
had anxiously waited for it to be
designed, constructed and finally
installed. Happily the students can
now play during the day without
the hot sunrays above them. We
love it!
“Also we welcome 30 NEW
students and their parents to
the second semester in our
new building. The students
are in Nursery and K1, K2, K3
and we are happy that they
have chosen REPS”.
Health and Safety
“An Ounce of Prevention”
While most of the time, the common mosquito is a
nuisance which can be largely ignored, the weeks
following Thailand’s monsoon season raises its
potential threat level dramatically. With the amount
of rainfall that accompanies the summer months, the
conditions are perfect for the breeding of mosquitos,
which become the harbingers of bad tidings, in the
form of dengue fever.
Dengue fever is a virus carried by the mosquito,
which the residents of tropical countries are all too
familiar with. It afflicts roughly 50 million people
yearly, with about a half million of these cases being
severe enough to require hospitalization. Once one
has been bitten and infected, the symptoms usually
begin to show between five and eight days later, and
include: sudden chills and pain around the eyes, high
fever, headaches, nausea and vomiting/diarrhea, and
a skin rash which typically covers much of the torso.
As the saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth
a pound of cure,” and luckily, the government agrees!
On the 22 nd of October, REPS was visited by a team of
fumigators who thoroughly sprayed our campus
with an insecticide targeting these tiny biological
terrorists. Our campus has been purged of the
menace, and our school nurse is relieved that she can
once again focus on the never-ending battle against
skinned knees, bloodied noses, and premature
picking of scabs!
At home, we suggest taking preventative measures of
your own, such as: emptying containers of standing
water, wearing long pants and sleeves outdoors
during the evening hours and keeping some mosquito
repellant handy. Take care, and thank you very much
for reading. Cheers!
Secondary Trip
REPS Education trip
to Civil Aviation Training Center, Bangkok
Our trip to Civil Aviation Training Center in
Bangkok was on Friday 11th September 2015.
Students M.4-M.6 visited the Air Traffic Control
Radar Simulator and Aircraft Workshop. Trips
like this help our students to select their
course at the university. Students had a
chance to see what the Civil Aviation Training
Center has to offer as a career choice and
future decision.
Choosing a university to attend and knowing
what different subjects, different places have
to offer is a good start to a successful career
path. REPS’ goal is to motivate students to find
what they really want to do in the future, to
make the right choices and to know how to
attend a school to match their goals. These
trips are a really good experience that REPS
students learn a lot from.
Science Experiments
Science Experiments can be useful
This year academic year the science students of
M4-M6 were able to make a number of different
products by themselves during science practical
lessons. Under supervision by Teacher Boss, the
students created such products as liquid soap and
shampoos.
The M4 science students made hard and liquid
soaps, which could presently be seen all around
the school restrooms and laboratories. The soaps
smell very good and are actually better than the
soap sold in large quantities. This lab experiment
took around 2-3 hours of preparation and
experiment.
"We were able
to make products that have many
benefits and we learned that
these products, which are sold
expensive, are easy to make
at home." Cat M.5/1.
Science Experiments
Science Experiments can be useful
The M5 science students had the opportunity to
make products from natural herbs that couls be
used for a variety of purposes: healing bruises
and inhaling in cases of nausea. Altogether, a
total of 5 different products were made.
Finally, the M6 science students made gel and
shampoo. The gel and shampoo’s purpose is to
promote hygiene, which is currently being used
for the kindergarten students to assure their
safety and hygiene. The products that we made
were very good and could be used instead in of
products that are sold
Teacher Boss states that the purpose of this lab was to familiarize the students with the lab equipment, setting up
and researching experiments on their own and during the procedures adapt their methodology to different
situations (errors, improvements, etc). This was also a small project to prepare the students with more practical
experiments to take place in the second semester.
These products have all been made entirely by the students and have all been tested and used by teachers and
parents. For Teacher Boss, the experiments have been successful and he looks forward to doing more of these
projects in the future.
Sports
Futsal
The girls futsal team recently participated in a futsal match against Wadpapradoo School on Saturday
September 26, 2015. The girls played their best and fought against the opposing team.
Our girls had a few chances to reach the opposite side’s goal but unfortunately we were a little too
slow to shoot into the goal. The first half Wadpapradoo scored some goals and finally in the second
half we got the chance to score. Special recognition to Nadia, who scored one goal. The girls pushed
to their full limits and some got slightly injured, but fortunately they have now recovered. By the end
of the intense match, the score was 5-1 in favour of Wadpapradoo.
Basketball
The under 15 boys played against the under 15 boys from the school next door (Garden International School). It
was a very exciting and fun match to watch, the crowd was going wild and cheering on loudly! The boys played
very well and had great teamwork, passing the ball to one another when they had to. They were very energetic,
every time the opposite team scored a hoop they were always able to catch up. At the end of the game, the
final score was 26-23 in favour of our School. REPS’s under 15 boys beat GIS by 3 points! YEAH!!
STUDENT COUNCIL 2015/2016
Members:
Parit Trinteeyakul: “Being in the student council, team work is
very important for everybody has different skills, so if everybody
works together all the jobs will be done efficiently and
with good quality. The goals for the student council is to improve
the school but for me, I want everybody to have fun and
for the students to wake up in the morning and look forward
to coming to school.”
Christopher Vichai Williamson: “We are working on many
different parts for the schools including: academics, safety,
activities and making sure that the students are happy. As a
member I think that everybody needs good leadership skills
and being able to analyze situations around us. We are hoping
that we will be able to make the school proceed in harmony
in the future.
Elisa Gilliot: “As a part of the student council this year, we will
have more opportunities to improve students and more responsibilities.
That is why having good relationships with the
teachers and the students is the key. The student council will
try to improve the school at most for all the students of the
Student Council
STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBER
Thanabodee Thunyathanasakda: “This year’s council will have
more impact because there has been a big change and the student
council is more serious than ever before. I believe that the
most important quality needed is the courage to express our
opinions and also participate with others to help the school and
improve the quality of the school.
Siwapon Chotikasatein: “The difference of the student council
this year is that everybody is more determined that the past
years. The student council wants to help the school as much as
possible and help all the teachers. I believe that we will be able to
work with all the teachers and improve the rules and regulations
of the school.
Noppon Boonchan: “It is clear that the members have much
more communications with the teachers. Even though our main
goal is to improve the school I believe that the happiness of the
students is priority. We work in the student council to help each
other in various school activities and improve them to the maximum.
Gampanat Henry: “I think the duties of the student council is
very important because we are the voice for all the students’
opinions and we are a big part in developing the school. To be a
member, everybody needs to be a good listener to every idea
and we need to be hard-working. Our goal is to organize different
activities and help the teachers develop projects to improve
the school.
STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBER
Jasmine Singngao: “I think that as part of the student council,
the members needs to meet the characteristics that are
required. It is important that the members are united, want to
see the school improve and have determination. The student
council will have a big impact on the school.
Anna Gilliot: “Leadership is the most important feature as a
member of the student council because the student council
needs to be able to lead the school and the move students
forward into a better direction. The goal for this year is to help
achieve as much as we can, while doing our best to provide
the best results.
Saruta Piamkuntham: “I believe that this year the student
council will have a higher impact on the school and different
decisions that will be made. I think that the most important
quality of the student council is good harmony and benefit
for the majority instead of personal benefits.”
Roi Reinzo Louis D. Cervantes: “I am not sure whether the
student council’s projects will go entirely as planned but we
are all willing to help both students and teachers. The
importance of the student council is that we will try to make
the students get the most knowledge as possible and make
our school a better place.
