Dear Parents, Guardians, Friends and Family,
There are so many things to be positive about in our school. One thing that has been
highlighted to me this week is how much our students care about their school and each
other. This week I have had conversations with our Sixth Form student leaders about how
we can improve our school, not only for themselves but also for the younger students. I was
also delighted this week to see the kindness showed by some of our Primary students to a
new student who has started in their class. They helped him find his way around, sat next to
him at lunchtime and included him in their play. This does not happen in every school. Thank
you for for giving us the opportunity to work with such amazing young people!
Secondary Assembly - Responsibility
8T led the secondary school through an assembly on the theme of "responsibility" and how
we need to think about what we want to achieve in the future and be responsible in setting
goals to achieve all the we can. The students looked at the aspects of being responsible for
our physical bodies and being responsible for our studies and academic success in a series
of challenges while representing their houses.
Year 7 Science
Year 7 are studying Acids and Alkaloids in Science. This week’s experiment was using Red
Cabbage to test for acidity.
Reception and Year 6 Team Up to Learn about Clean Energy
This week the children in Reception have continued learning about the ways in which we can
help the planet. On Monday they had some very special visitors; the children in Year 6 came
to share their knowledge of clean energy. The Year 6 children had previously designed
villages which rely on different forms of renewable energy, and were fantastic teachers! They
engaged the Reception children with great presentations and answered lots of questions
from our inquisitive younger learners.
Rainbow Nursery Class Update
Rainbow Nursery have been learning about their homes and families. They have created a
display of photos which is inspiring some fantastic discussions. They have also enjoyed
developing their fine motor skills by getting messy with cornflour and food colouring!
Chinese New Year
Further to this weekly newsletter I will also be sending you a special Chinese New Year
newsletter, which has been put together by Ms. Lee. For those of you in our community who
are celebrating this weekend, all of us at Garden International School, Bangkok wish you a
Happy New Year and wonderful Year of the Rooster.
Secondary Education at Garden International School, Bangkok
Day of Colour
Next Friday we have our Day of Colour. A fun day for the students to dress in the colours of
their house. The more colourful they are the more house points they earn!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
