Central Valley Corvettes - December 2015

The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.
MONTHLY MEETINGS ARE HELD
AT 6.30 P.M. ON THE 3 RD TUESDAY
OF EVERY MONTH AT YOSEMITE
FALLS CAFE, 4278 W. ASHLAN AVE,
FRESNO CALIFORNIA. INTERESTED
CORVETTE ENTHUSIATS ARE
MORE THAN WELCOME TO
ATTEND THE MEETINGS AND MEET
OUR MEMBERS.
Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is
defined in Article III, section 1 of the
bylaws in part as follows: "Membership in
Central Valley Corvettes shall be open to all
Corvette owners who are sponsored by a
member in good standing. Additionally, a
prospective member must, within a three
month period , attend two consecutive
meetings, participate in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two- thirds vote of membership present at
any general membership meeting by secret
ballot
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all
members must be a member of the
association providing club liability insurance
for CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings
or two sanctioned activities.
CVC membership dues are $67.00 plus an
initiation fee of $35.00. Membership entitles
two members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

... a word from our President!
We held our Annual Meeting in November
with the main business being the election
of board officers for 2016. Incumbents
elected for a second term were myself for
president, Skip Severance VP/Activities,
Debby Anderson/Secretary and Mike
Lebda/Treasurer. Charlotte Renna is our
new VP/Public Relations. Many thanks to
Dick Danielson for his service this past
year as VP/Public Relations. Dick brought
a new humorous way to look at birthdays
and did an outstanding job performing the
various tasks required to maintain the
membership records. I am sure that
Charlotte, with all her past board
experience, will also do a great job. I also
would like to thank the other board
members, Skip, Debby and Mike. There is
a lot of behind the scenes work required
to keep the club business running
smoothly and they willingly stepped up to
the plate to get things done. Their efforts
were directly responsible for the great
year we had in 2015. Also, thanks to
Charlie Fosnaugh for producing our
wonderful newsletter and coordinating
everything needed to get our new club
shirts and jackets.
I guess this has turned into the “thank
you” letter. It’s been a busy year and
many members contributed by
putting on runs and events. You are
too numerous to mention but the club
wouldn’t exist without your hard
work. Thanks also to my special
helpers. Chuck Laningham has been a
very disciplined Sergeant At Arms.
Although he was temporarily demoted
to Corporal he quickly got his rank
back and just may be in line for a
promotion. Craig Hansen served as
Parliamentarian and ensured our
election process ran smoothly and per
the by-laws. Susan Walker took over
the raffle process with a bang. It
seems like we broke a record for raffle
money collected every meeting. Last
but not least, thanks to my beautiful
bride, Jan, for being our Sunshine and
Clouds lady. She delivered the news
of the club, happy and sad, in a
delightful way. I’m happy to say that
they have all signed up for another
year.
I would also like to commend the
membership in general for the support
they have shown for the club.
Participation by members is crucial to
the success of a club like ours and by
putting on runs, going on runs and
coming to meetings you have helped
make CVC the success that it is.
Jan and I are looking forward to seeing
you at the Christmas Party and
Hayride. It’s always special to
celebrate with our CVC family.

The Annual Meeting was called to order at
6:30 by President, Gary Pflepsen. The
minutes from the October general meeting
were read by Debby Anderson Secretary.
Leigh Ann Severance made a motion to
accept the minutes as read and it was
seconded by Chuck Laningham. Motion
carried.
Parliamentarian, Craig Hansen handed out
the ballots for board elections.
Treasurer’s report was given by Mike Lebda.
Ed Dena’s Sponsorship check came in.
VP of Activities, Skip Severance had the run
leaders report on the previous runs. The
Mystery run was in Las Vegas. A & C
Anderson’s had a Halloween party. Scott and
Aimee Parkin thanked all who came to their
Wedding Reception run. December 10 th is
the Christmas party at Pardini’s. The Hay Ride
is Dec. 13 th . Dec. 23 will be Star Wars movie
night at the Maya.
VP of PR/Membership, Dick Danielsen gave
the Birthday and Anniversary report. Craig
and Darlene Derringer are visiting again
tonight and have now completed the
requirements to become members. Aimee
Parkin is also going to be a member. Last day
Club Jackets. Charlie has gotten a lot of
orders for Club jackets and they are almost
ready. He will pick them up this weekend
and you can get them from him or wait for
the next meeting.
Ed Dena has agreed to sponsor us again for
2016. We invited him to our Christmas Party
and are hoping he can make time in his very
busy schedule to attend again this year.
Results for the 2016 Board are: President
Gary Pflepsen, Treasurer Mike Lebda, VP of
Activities Skip Severance, VP of
PR/Membership Charlotte Renna and
Secretary Debby Anderson.
The next General Meeting will be December
15, 2015.
The next Board Meeting will be Tuesday,
November 24 th , 7:00pm at Mikes house.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was given
by Scott Parkin and seconded by Tom Jarvis.
Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 7:32 pm.

LAST TUESDAY NIGHT. THE SERVICES ARE AT ST. ANTHONY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH,
1050 ‘F’ STREET, REEDLEY. THE ROSARY IS 6PM TUESDAY NIGHT WITH THE HOLY
MASS WEDNESDAY AT 10;00 AM.
2. FROM CHARLOTTE RENNA. MIKE PAUL AND SHERYL WERE IN PISMO LAST WEEK.
ON THE LAST DAY HE WAS SUFFERING FROM HEADACHES AND SINUS PROBLEMS.
HE DEVELOPED SEVERE TINNITUS AND LOSS OF HERING IN HIS RIGHT EAR. DUE TO
CHLDHOOD MUMPS, HE IS ALREADY DEAF IN HIS LEFT EAR. MIKE CAME HOME HAD
AN MRI AND DISCOVERED A TMOR ON HIS ACOUSTICAL NERVE ON HIS RIGHT EAR.
HE IS ON STEROIDS AND MEDS. HE WILL HAVE MORE TESTS DONE ON MONDAY. HE
IS NOW OFF WORK AS AN AIRLINE CAPITAIN. PLEASE PRAY FOR GOOD RESULTS.
3. DON AND SYLVIA JOHNSON WAS HOPEING TO SEE US ALL BUT WATHER IS
PREVENTING THEM FROM DRIVING DOWN HERE. THEY WILL BE COMING DOWN
BEFORE THE 4 TH OF DECEMBER FOR DON’S CLASS REUNION AND THEN HEADING TO
SAN DIEGO TO MEET THEIR NEW GRANDDAUGHTER. THEN THEY WILL DRIVE RIGHT
BACK TO WASHINGTON FOR CHRISTMAS. DON AND SYLVIA WOULD LIKE TO WISH
ALL OF US A HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS.
4. MIKE AND DIANE HAYES BECAME GREAT GRANDPARENTS FOR THE FIRST TIME ON
NOVEMBER 13, 2015. WE NOW HAVE A BABY BOY BORN TO NICK AND TRISHA
KOENIG AND HIS NAME IS MADDOX REITER KOENIG. HE IS THEIR NUMBER ONE
GRANDSON AND NUMBER ONE GREAT GRANDSON. EVERYONE IS DOING WELL.
CONGRATULATIONS, MIKE AND DIANE!!
5. PER ED KROKER: STEVEN ROSEN WILL BE HAIVNG LABRUM SURGERY ON
WEDNESDAY. WE ALL HOPE THIS WILL RELIEVE STEVE’S HIP PAIN.
