as a grand cinema, is now a Grade II
listed art deco venue. Retaining many
of the original features, the Grand
Hall now houses a state of the art PA

I have a vision of a new business
model for the hotel industry
shaped by 21st Century ideals.
It’s not yet ready for discussion
but the days of the current
dominant brands are numbered.

What is the best piece of career
advice you have been given?
Always hire people based on
their attitudes and character.
What is the funniest thing you have heard or
experienced at Sundial Group?
We recently held a conference for our 60 leaders.
Letting our hair down and make fools of ourselves in
the evening with silly party games was pretty hilarious.
It’s important not to take ourselves too seriously.
Name one thing not many
people know about you?
I have practiced Yoga, meditation
and mindfulness for many years.
What achievements are you most proud of?
Recognition as a Champion in the hospitality
industry by The Living Wage Foundation.
What’s your favourite movie?
Sorry I don’t have just one! Dead Poets Society and
The Usual Suspects are all time favourites, in recent
years Django Unchained.
What is your favourite meal?
I love Mediterranean cuisine,
especially sea food.
What is your favourite holiday destination
and why?
Zermatt. The skiing is fantastic, the mountain
restaurants superb and the Matterhorn casts a
magical spell over the whole valley.
