March To Equality is celebrating its
first birthday
Join us for an Oktoberfest at
EIGHT4NINE Restaurant & Lounge
in Palm Springs to benefit full LGBT
equality.
March To Equality is the most
expansive virtual march in history
supporting full LGBT equality.
The vision of the organizers is to
collect 50M “steps” through the
MarchToEquality.org platform, so that
by June 28, 2019 the entire globe
will be virtually circumnavigated. This
date is special as it marks the 50th
anniversary of the Stonewall Riots
and reflects an important milestone in
the LGBT movement.
The campaign is the brainchild of
Palm Springs resident
Stephan Anspichler, a Film and
TV producer from Germany: “MTE
was able to collect over 2.5M steps
in support of full LGBT equality in just
the first campaign year. This is reason
for us to celebrate with our friends in
our homebase Palm Springs! Thanks
to Willie Rhine and John Pascal,
EIGHT4NINE Restaurant & Lounge
is offering an extraordinary German
Oktoberfest Menu on four continuous
nights to benefit the campaign,” he
says.
Willie Rhine of EIGHT4NINE
Restaurant & Lounge is looking
forward to this one and only
Oktoberfest weekend in Palm
Springs this year: “On these four
nights between September 29th
and October 2nd, we will have the
best German Beers and classic
Oktoberfest specialties on our Menu.
So, there are two reasons to come
and join us: One is the great German
food and beverage selection, and two
is the benefit for March To Equality,”
he says.
forward to this event and “happy to
share a German experience with our
friends in Palm Springs – I’ll definitely
Global Ambassadors to the March
To Equality have included Hollywood
LIVE Magazine
exclusive
by Sean Borg
Photos by John Paschal
Sean Borg
I have an announcement to make…
Bianca Rae is officially one of the most
famous faces in the Coachella Valley (I
can vouch).
She’s dubbed the goddess of daytime
news (perhaps there’s a Greek reference
in there somewhere—Greek Goddess?
She’s half Greek anyway) Bianca brings
us the “meat and potatoes” in her daily
delivery as morning anchor at KESQ News Channel 3 with co-anchor Jeff
Stahl and meteorologist Jerry Steffen.
She’s gorgeous—the perfect covergirl! I wanted to make this interview a
special one…so I enlisted the help of renowned photographer John Paschal,
who has photographed nearly every famous face you can think of, including
the likes of Elizabeth Taylor. Enough said.
Paschal, along with famed Palm Springs local and restaurateur - Scottish
born Willie Rhine, is also co-owner of the Über-chic eatery, Eight4Nine
– a place that has enhanced the face of Uptown Palm Springs socially,
making the city a more trendy place to hang. Eight4Nine is also the location
of our sexy cover shoot.
But it wasn’t until the next day when I met Bianca at The River in Rancho
Mirage to do our interview I understood her allure. Fresh off the studio
floor, in light make-up, her formidably toned body covered in a slender
figure-hugging tight dress in cream and black, looking every inch the
glamorous face we see on our TV screens. She greets me with a radiant,
megawatt smile and an effusive “hello”; it was here that I realized just
how popular she is.
The skies over Rancho Mirage are glorious today, The River’s fountain
shimmers with an opalescent sheen that reflects on Bianca’s dazzling
sapphire blue eyes. Part of this interview sees us strolling around the
busy shopping center and where I witness Bianca being besieged by a
bunch of fans wanting to take selfies with her.
I happen to know a lot of famous people so I’m used to seeing this kind
of stuff…in Los Angeles, that is, not in the Desert. This girl has something
special about her. When I tell Rae I really enjoy watching her on the
news, she expresses genuine surprise. I’m agape and truly flattered that
she thinks of me as someone as well known as she is. But that’s Bianca
Rae for you. I thought I was the one giving out the compliments, but Miss
Rae gives them right back. She knows how to make people feel great.
YES: I SHOULD NOTE that when we arrived Bianca and I have scarcely
had time to hug when literally from out of nowhere a dozen or so admirers
stop her every few minutes to say to hi, and to let her know how
much they love her. I’m surprised I even had time to do this interview the
interruptions were many. I expected her to be intimidated by it all, but no,
as I observe Bianca, she handles her followers like a true professional;
you can tell her community loves her and she loves them right back.
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Bianca is confident about her job at
KESQ; she has been part of the team for half a decade. Starting out as a
roving reporter in the field, interviewing the likes of Reese Witherspoon,
Matthew McConaughey and Julianne Moore then after chasing forest
fires, floods and homicides, eventually moving up to where she sits comfortably
today as morning anchor.
The stunning Emmy nominated, two-time ‘Dancing with the Desert Stars’
(and ‘Dancing with the Desert All-Stars’) Mirrorball trophy winner is a
lover of animals (her best friend is an adorable Spaniel mix shelter dog,
named Jack, rescued from a shelter in Indio). This young, passionate bolt
of energy even has her own charity —The Bianca Rae Foundation, with
its mission to “serve as a resource of funding, knowledge, and empowerment
for the socially disadvantaged, the underserved, and all animals.”
A typical day for Rae goes something like this: Her first alarm goes off
at 3:30am, then her dad actually calls her from Chicago at 3:45 to be
her last wake up call to officially make sure his daughter gets out of bed
(how cute). She lives close to the KESQ studios and in work by 4am. She
reads scripts between 4:00 – 4:30am.
“After hair and make-up, I’m wide awake and the day is rolling with breaking
news headlines. I love it. It’s a fun morning show. Obviously we cover
the “meat and potatoes.”, she says. “But the thing I love about mornings
is we also have time for the laughter and the fun stories, it’s a little bit
about entertainment too. It’s a great show to be part of.”
Rae doesn’t need anything explained to her—she’s only 27 years old, but
is clearly peaking with power. This part Italian, part Greek looks exquisite
but her style doesn’t appear deliberately provocative or fad-chasing—
on the contrary, there’s an effortless appropriateness to Bianca. She is
fiercely ambitious, but not offensively or desperately so. She’s chic. She
knows who she is. Her passion is forceful and her high-pitch laugh infectious.
She impresses me. Her confidence is palpable; her conversation is
both bantering and impatient. She has much to say…and in my opinion
she is a star on the rise. Bianca has done it all, from covering A-list red
carpet events to triple homicides in Indio. Miss Rae, is far from fluffy!
During our interview, as she talks about the love for her family. She
squeezes her eyes to hold back tears. The scene amplifies the warm
regard she has for them as she describes the family as “her rock”.
“I’m very close with my grandparents.”, she says. “Specifically my Papou
(that’s grandpa in Greek.)”
LIVE Magazine is honored to produce Bianca’s first ever magazine cover (I
have a feeling though, this is just the first of many). The young beauty can
barely contain her excitement as she sits in front of me beaming like a child
on Christmas Day with a stack of unopened gifts about to be ripped apart.
And yet today, if I am completely honest, I too share Bianca’s excitement;
I was just as thrilled about our exclusive chat with her. A treasured footnote:
I love Bianca’s laugh!
So, LIVE Magazine readers, meet “The Desert’s Television Sweetheart”
—Bianca Rae… (Cue Bianca’s infectious laugh!)
Sean Borg: How did you get started in news?
Bianca Rae: I was born and raised in Palos Park, a suburb of Chicago.
Big Greek and Italian tight knit family. I went to the University of Missouri’s
renowned School of Journalism. I have a double major in Broadcast
journalism and Spanish, with a minor in sociology. During my college
Summers I lived in LA and interned at E! Entertainment and KTLA.
I learned so much from everyone there! Some great mentors who still
guide me today. Then, a few months before college graduation, I attended
a journalism convention in Las Vegas. It was supposed to be
strictly for critique, we sat down with news directors from the West Coast
to show them our reel. The fifth news director I sat down with turned out
to be my station’s assistant news director, who apparently saw something
in me because they ended up flying me out for an interview and the rest
is history! I had all these reels and resumes ready to send out to try to get
a job, and here I ended up meeting my future boss at a convention and
getting to go to California right out of college. It was such a dream.
SB: Was it your dream to be a News Anchor?
BR: Actually, I started out as a general assignment reporter, first doing
everything from red carpet entertainment, to breaking news triple homicide
in Indio. So diverse. I think throughout the years they could tell
where my passion lies. I’ve always liked advocacy journalism where you
do stories to make a difference really. You know, in news everything is
broken up into blocks, and C-block stories are usually human interest,
entertainment or consumer stories. Most reporters long for the A-block
stories, but I always like the C-block because those are the sort of stories
I am interested in. In entertainment news, I feel like myself when I am
on that red carpet. I am in my element. But being an anchor is a dream

come true.
SB: I bet. You are one of the main faces of KESQ
morning news; tell us a bit about your job.
BR: Being an anchor is a whole other responsibility
from when I was out in the field. So many things that
I didn’t even know that come with it. It’s a whole other
adrenaline rush. You’re the face of the station; so many
things could go wrong. If somebody says something
wrong it falls on your shoulders. You really have to be
accountable, you have to know your stuff, and your
prompter could go out at anytime. I’ve done shows with
no iPad, no prompter; I had it go out on me half way
through a show. It can be very stressful. But you get
through it. You have to.
SB: Tell me a little bit about the most famous people
you’ve interviewed and your experience with them.
BR: Oh gosh, so many…(infectious laugh) Matthew
McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon. Actually, I’ll tell you
a story I really appreciated. Two years ago I interviewed
Julianne Moore at the Palm Springs International Film
Festival and just about a year ago I ran into to a KESQ
viewer at a local Starbucks and she said, “Oh my gosh,
I’ve been hoping to run into you because I wanted to
tell you this.” As the story goes, she was flying out of
LAX the day after the film festival and she ran into Julianne
Moore. They were talking about the film festival,
and randomly this lady asked Julianne how was your
experience in Palm Springs, how were the interviews?
And Julianne Moore said, “That girl in the long red
dress (that was me) asked me great questions. I really
appreciated it. You know, a lot of times red carpet
questions can be very surface level and generic, and
while that’s fun, I think celebrities, especially women,
enjoy when they get asked more. I like doing thorough
research on who I am about to interview if I get the
chance. Sometimes you don’t get that luxury, but if I
can, I go above and beyond to get the right information.
But I love it.
SB: Which celebrities I would you like to interview?
BR: Oh, definitely Brad Pitt, because he also went to
Mizzou (University of Missouri). I would love to talk to
him about that. Rumor on the street is he named his
child Shiloh after a really popular bar on campus. I’d
like to confirm whether or not that’s true. And then of
course Taylor Swift, she is completely intriguing in so
many ways whether you like her or not. Her marketing
team and business empire is out of this world, plus
I’d love to get to the bottom of all these breakups. And
then there’s Jennifer Aniston, what a power woman
who does life right.
We should be
a voice for the
voiceless, which
in my opinion,
are children and
animals.
SB: Bianca, you’re so busy, how do you juggle on and
off camera, when do you sleep?
BR: I actually get more sleep now as morning anchor
than ever before because I’m so conscious about it,
about going to bed early and taking care of myself. I
balance it all very simply: TO DO lists, a planner I’d
die without, and a great team I couldn’t live without.
Whether that’s my family and close friends helping me
personally, or my Bianca Rae Foundation team helping
me with the foundation, I’m very blessed to have some
really good and loyal people in my corner.
SB: Why did you start the Bianca Rae foundation?
BR: The Bianca Rae Foundation message is this: We
should be a voice for the voiceless, which in my opinion,
are children and animals. The foundation lets me
live out this message. I’m 27; I don’t personally have
Jack

29
I know I am
meant to be a
journalist, and
I know the
platform
journalism
gives me is
where I’m meant
to make a
difference.
a lot of money. But because of generous donations, this
foundation lets me create positive change: whether that’s
organizing high-profile adoption events or creating a leadership
retreat that nearly 400 of our Valleys young girls attend.
Animals and kids need us. Kids are our future, and animals
just make life better! I’ve always believed in Luke 12:48: For
unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.
I have been blessed with a lot, and I have also
worked for a lot. If I did nothing with all that I have, it would
be self-ish, and quite frankly I would not be living out my
calling. I know I am meant to be a journalist, and I know the
platform journalism gives me is where I’m meant to make a
difference. People can use this platform for good, for bad, or
not at all. I realized early on in my career people listen to
what I have to say. Right or wrong, good or bad...but
because of my job, they listen so I darn well, I better have
something meaningful to say.
SB: Tell me about your family. You told me your dad still
wakes you up for work by calling you all the way from Chicago.
Clearly there’s a strong bond between you all.
BR: We call ourselves the core four: Mom, Dad, my older
sister Alexa, and me. We actually have a group chat called
Core Four. My mom is 100% Italian, my dad is 100% Greek.
They’ve been married for 31 years, talk about relationship
goals! My dad has given us everything that he could, and
most importantly so much love...He really set the bar for how
a man should treat a woman. Alexa is a family law attorney at
Dussias Skallas Wittenberg, LLP in Chicago. I admire her so
much! She and my mom are my best friends. And my Papou,
my dad’s dad, is the patriarch of our family. I get my persistence
and my eyes from him! Overall, we’re all very close.
Our family parties are fun and loud and full of food!! (Infectious
laugh).
SB: How have you changed in the last five years?
BR: People come up to me and say, “I’ve watched you grow
up over the past five years.” I know they’re talking about….
me losing baby weight, the evolution of my style and the
growth of my broadcast skills. But the way I’ve grown over
the past five years is so much more than meets the eye.
I’ve definitely become more sure of who I am. I owe a lot of
that to my bosses at KESQ, who always let me be me. They
created an entire entertainment reporter position for me,
and then a year later promoted me to morning anchor... all
the while never asking me to stifle my loud laugh or lose my
spunk. They let me be Bianca. In a world and industry where
everyone is trying to be the same, it’s empowering to know
I can succeed being myself. That gave me confidence. With
that confidence came strength to handle negativity. There
was a time where mean words would break me; stop me
in my tracks. My dad always said not to worry what other
people say about me. But it actually wasn’t until these Rae Of
Hope retreats that I learned for myself how to really do what my dad said.
I always tell the girls and have them repeat, “What Suzy says of Sally
says more about Suzy, than it does about Sally.” Suzy clearly is unhappy,
going through some really tough times in her life, so Sally better just be
kind, give her a smile and keep on walking.
SB: Some people may not know what to make of you, you go from red
carpets to breaking news, and you go from beautiful seductive clothes to
serving communion at church on Sundays. How do you explain that?
BR: I’ve never liked stereotypes. I get to choose who I am, what I am,
no one else does. In high school, I was the captain of varsity poms and
also on the math team. So on Fridays, I would wear my pom skirt with
my Mathletes shirt tucked into it. People were confused, they didn’t know
which category to mentally put me in: popular or nerd. Those categories
are mean and unfair and honestly I didn’t even understand them because
I never fit into just one. I never just had one group of friends because I
never fit into just one group. Now as an adult, I continue to try to break
down stereotypes. I don’t want to have to wear a blazer and suit to be
taken seriously. There’s nothing wrong with looking fashionable and fabulous...as
long as you also present a good quality of work, which I believe
I do. Another stereotype I dislike is the notion that all shelter animals
are aggressive. I bring Jack out and about with me to try and glamorize
adoption and show people he is a rescue pet! And he wouldn’t hurt a fly!
People pair things together. If you’re this, then you also must be that. I
think we all need to realize we are allowed to make our own rules. I want
to have it all and be what I want and I won’t let society tell me I can’t.
SB: How would you describe your fans?
BR: Oh gosh, you mean my viewers? They’re loyal and consistent, I love
it. I know when certain people will wake up and message me or email me!
It’s sweet. They always tell me they love my laugh, and love Jack. I think
they really like me for me, and that’s amazing.
SB: Favorite quote you live by?
BR: It’s a lyric from a song by Sugarland. “I ain’t settling for anything less
than everything.”
SB: What are you most proud of?
BR: Adopting Jack, and being mature enough to see how he changed my
life.
SB: Best memories in the Desert?
BR: Getting nominated for an Emmy for my live coverage of the 700 Year
Storm with my colleagues was an honor! Also, winning Dancing with the
Desert Stars...twice!! My partner Josh and I worked so hard for those
wins and it helped raise a lot of money for Desert Aids Project. Also, last
year my parents threw me a surprise 26th Golden birthday party! It was
huge and over-the-top and fabulous, friends and family came from out
of town, and it was really special. And getting chosen as one of the 40
Under 40 most successful people in the Desert was a huge honor and a
great experience.
SB: How do you stay grounded and centered?
BR: First off, if I ever changed at all, my mom will be the first person to
call me and tell me to snap the heck out of it. When you’re from the Midwest,
acting with class and grace is the only option. Also, my faith has always
been a big part of my life. I serve the Eucharist at mass on Sundays
at Sacred Heart Church. Father Lincoln is a mentor and friend. Looking
around, seeing my family’s health and happiness, you have to thank God
because I know he’s watching over us all.
SB: Best advice?
BR: My mom always says never settle, in any area of life. And the higher
the hair the closer to God! And my dad always says, “Always do the right
thing and always be a good person.
SB: What’s next for you?
BR: I’m finally at a place where I’m really happy in the moment. I feel like
I have everything I could ask for right now: I live in paradise, anchor the
#1 morning newscast here, have a growing foundation that’s making real
change in the Valley, and I’m in love. I’m excited to see what’s next for
me. But right now, life is really good and I am enjoying this moment.
DESERT DENTAL ALTERNATIVES
Bruno Lemay, DMD
Creating Beautiful Smiles
CHANGING THE FACE OF DENTISTRY IN THE DESERT
With the extensive training he has received over the last 25 years, Dr. Bruno Lemay’s
unique experience has set him apart from any other dental practitioner in the desert.
Dr. Lemay is able to perform every specialized dental treatment right in his office,
making Desert Dental Alternatives one of the only “one stop” general dentistry
offices in the area.
CONVENIENT, AFFORDABLE CARE UNDER ONE ROOF
At Desert Dental Alternatives, there is no need to go from one office to another to
have implants, crowns , surgery or root canals. Dr. Lemay performs all procedures
himself, from the surgical stage of implantology to the restorative stage, saving patients
valuable time and money. Having all dental work performed by one dentist in
the same office provides the patient with added peace of mind and confidence that
their care is being expertly handled from start to finish and much less hassle to have
to drive from one office to the other.
One of the reasons Desert Dental Alternatives is so unique is that there are very few
dentists in California performing implant dentistry with the high success rates Dr.
Lemay is known for. In most practices, the patient is referred to see a specialist who
places the implants and then returns to the referring office for the restorative dentist
to place the prosthetic part.
Most patients do not enjoy visiting the dentist, or do not have the time for long,
drawn out appointments. That’s why it’s important to pick a dentist with a gentle
touch and exceptional skill, who can give you the best results in the fewest number
of visits. Dr. Lemay respects your time and focuses on getting you out of the chair
with the best quality treatment so you can get back to the activities you enjoy. And,
at Desert Dental Alternatives, you can feel confident that you are getting the best
possible care at a price that fits your budget.
so many insurance providers is because we have developed a
very efficient top-quality team over the last 15 years. We pride
ourselves on working smarter, not harder to get your dental work
done efficiently.”
“Being able to work with PPO insurance is important for our clients so they can use
the benefits they pay for,” says Dr. Lemay. “The reason why we are able to work with
LEADING-EDGE ALTERNATIVES FOR THE HIGHEST CALIBER CARE
Because of Dr. Lemay’s involvement in all stage of implantology,
root canal therapy and dental surgery, it was essential for his
practice to offer the most advanced technology in terms of diagnostic
scanners. Desert Dental Alternatives is the only general
dentistry office in the desert with a 3-D Cat-Scan machine. Dr.
Lemay’s patients benefit from this technology without having to
go to another facility or hospital, or pay excessive fees for this
type of X-ray. The 3-D image allows Dr. Lemay to provide the best
service to his patients quickly and efficiently, at a fraction of the
price they would have to pay for a Cat-Scan elsewhere.
“Since I have been working with the CT scanner, I wonder how
I was able to work without it, and how any other dentists can
perform the best treatment possible without this amazing tool,”
he says.
The name of Dr. Lemay’s practice, Desert Dental Alternatives really
says it all. Dr. Lemay and his staff pride themselves on never
pushing patients towards a unique treatment because it’s all they
offer. Instead, patients are educated on all the various treatment
options regardless of the cost, so they can make an informed
decision. For example, standard implants are often a good solution,
but there are also cases where patients could benefit from
mini-implants. Since Dr. Lemay is the only dentist in the desert
successfully performing both techniques for over two decades,
there is no other place to learn about both options during the
same visit.
“Wonder Woman” hits movie theaters around
the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns
as the title character in the epic action
adventure from director Patty Jenkins (“Monster,”
AMC’s “The Killing”). Joining Gadot in
the international cast are Chris Pine (“Star
Trek” films), Connie Nielsen (Fox’s “The Following,”
“Gladiator”), Robin Wright (“The Girl
Ewen Bremner (“Exodus: Gods and Kings,”
Gal Gadot is an Israeli actress and model. She
was born in Rosh Ha’ayin, Israel, to a Jewish
family (from Poland, Austria, Germany, and
Czechoslovakia). She served in the IDF for two
years, and won the Miss Israel title in 2004.
Gal began modeling in the late 2000s, and made her film debut in the
fourth film of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast & Furious (2009), as
Gisele. Her role was expanded in the sequels Fast Five (2011) and Fast
& Furious 6 (2013), in which her character was romantically linked to
Han Seoul-Oh (Sung Kang). In the films, Gal performed her own stunts.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons,
trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered
island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells
of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home,
convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to
end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Patty Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and
Geoff Johns & Patty Jenkins, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg,
based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created
by William Moulton Marston.
The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder
and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller
and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.
Joining Jenkins behind the camera are director of photography Matthew
Jensen (“Chronicle,” “Fantastic Four,” HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Oscarnominated
production designer Aline Bonetto (“Amélie,” “A Very Long Engagement,”
“Pan”), Oscar-winning editor Martin Walsh (“Chicago,” “Jack
Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” “V for Vendetta”), and Oscar-winning costume
designer Lindy Hemming (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, “Topsy-Turvy”).
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment,
an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production, “Wonder
Woman.” The film is scheduled for release on June 2, 2017, and will be
distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment
Company.
www.wonderwomanfilm.com
She also appeared in the 2010 films Date Night (2010) and Knight and
Day (2010).
In early December 2013, Gal was cast as Wonder Woman in the superhero
team-up film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and
filming began in 2014 for a March 2016 release. The film is part of the
DC Extended Universe, and Gadot will play the role again in the solo film
Wonder Woman (2017) and superhero team-up Justice League (2017).
Gadot received swordsmanship, Kung Fu kickboxing, Capoeira and Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu training in preparation for the role. As a result, her performance
as the superhero, which is the first time for the character on film,
was hailed as one of the best parts of the otherwise poorly-received film.
Gal is a motorcycle enthusiast, and owns a black 2006 Ducati Monster-
S2R. She has been married to Yaron Versano since September 28, 2008.
They have one child.
ANNE
STEELE
“THE MIXTAPE OF MY LIFE”
Thursday
September 15, 2016
8pm
Anne, who is known for weaving hilarious stories from her life
into a setlist ranging from high energy belting dance numbers
to blow the roof off ballads, will walk you through those awkward
moments that all of us can relate to with a soundtrack
featuring beloved 80’s hits and anthems.
Anne Steele is an award-winning Cabaret and live performer
from NYC. She’s a three-time winner of New York’s prestigious
Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs (MAC) Award. In
addition to her three MAC awards, Steele is a two-time winner
of New York’s Bistro and Nightlife Awards, both celebrating
excellence in the New York cabaret community. As winner of
the Metropolitan Room’s first-ever Metro-Star Talent Challenge
in the summer of 2008, Steele subsequently unveiled her onewoman
show, “Strings Attached” at the Metropolitan Room to
such acclaim that the initial run was extended and an encore,
sold out engagement promptly scheduled which garnered her
a feature article and a review in the NY Times. She has been
fortunate enough to perform in NYC at such famed places as
Town Hall, Rose Hall at Lincoln Center, Joe’s Pub at the Public
Theater, The Metropolitan Room, BB Kings, Symphony Space,
Don’t Tell Mama, Laurie Beechman Theater, Ars Nova, and
Brandy’s Piano Bar.Anne will be singing songs from her new
CD, What’s Mine, released in March, which is being received
with great critical and listener acclaim. What’s Mine is chockfull
of anthems that will capture the listeners imagination. With
a distinct visual aesthetic Anne Steele is crafting pop music
with a message. Dedicated to supporting gay rights, yet still
willing to address more traditional pop fare, Anne Steele is a
truly interesting and eclectic artist. A joy to listen to and always
exciting, her latest EP is the kind of release that will get you
dancing on your desk, reveling in major key melodies and powerful
vocals.
“A powerhouse EP full of dynamic and zestful make-youwanna-move
songs, but don’t be fooled by the catchy, candycoated
melodies- embedded in these dance floor anthems is a
poignant message at heart.” “If the music itself wasn’t already ambitious
enough, Steele’s songs are made all the more powerful by her
thought provoking lyricism, led by honest and impassioned beliefs.”
– PapercutMag.com
In 2010, PS Classics Recordings produced and distributed Steele’s
debut album, Strings Attached, based on her performances at the
Metropolitan Room. The CD can be purchased via ITunes and Amazon.
She launched her CD with a sold out concert in November 2010
at Joe’s Pub in NYC.
Anne appears several times a year with sold out concerts at Joe’s
Pub in NY and continues to perform regularly across the country at
venues such as Davenports in Chicago, Rockwell Table and Stage in
LA, The Blue Moon in Rehoboth Beach, and The Crown and Anchor
in Provincetown. She also appears on the high seas with Atlantis
Events, R Family Vacations and The Broadway Cruise.
“What’s Mine is a 6 track powerhouse EP full of dynamic and zestful
make-you-wanna-move songs, but don’t be fooled by the catchy,
candy-coated melodies- embedded in these dance-floor anthems is a
poignant message at heart.” -Julia Lamb PapercutMag.com
“To provide and preserve a high-quality performing arts center that is
embraced by the community and recognized as a vital force by supporting
artistic excellence, education and inspiration for all.”
From the very beginning, The Smith Center
was envisioned as a world-class performing
arts center that would develop and present the
best and brightest in a broad range of first-rate
programming and unite the residents of our
community. A collection of venues that could
both host the world’s finest performances from
Broadway shows to world-class concerts, and
support and encourage local artists. We wanted
to bring the fine art of the world to Downtown
Las Vegas, and bring the art of Downtown to the
