SANCTUARY PALM SPRINGS
RECEIVES LICENSE
After a three-year process, Sanctuary
Palm Springs, an LGBT Family Home,
is licensed to open. Operating under the
aegis of the state’s mandate to increase
awareness and care for LGBT youth in
foster care, SPS will provide programs
specifically designed to meet these
needs.
At Sanctuary Palm Springs, the residents learn the skills necessary
to become self-sufficient adults prepared to take on the responsibilities
of employment to cover their living expenses such as rent
and food. Also, through Sanctuary Palm Springs’ Matched Mentor
program, they will have the opportunity of connecting with successful
adults in the LGBT and general community who can help them
find their special gifts and possibly their ideal employment or career
path.
David Rothmiller and LD Thompson, the founders of Sanctuary
Palm Springs, are licensed foster care providers. Their passion for
supporting LGBT youth came into sharp focus when they learned of
the extreme vulnerability that this population faces in placement.
They have brought together a skilled and determined team of professionals,
all of whom have donated countless hours of their time
to ensure that this dream become a reality.

who are ages 18 though 21. It is a state-
certified program called Transitional Housing Placement Plus Foster
Care Program (THP+FC). In order to qualify for placement with
Sanctuary Palm Springs, residents must be studying for their GED,
enrolled in college or a vocational training program, or be working
at least 80 hours a month.

Spearman Foundation are Event Sponsors. The event features a
Silent and Live Auction of celebrity and local business donations

Earlier this week I had the pleasure
of attending the Third Annual Fashion
Group International Palm Springs
Luncheon and Fashion Show benefiting
Friends of the Palm Springs Animal
Shelter. Hosted by the wonderful
philanthropic power-couple - Joelle
and Steve Stanbridge and event partner, Jack Williams.

Many familiar faces turned up to support the worthy cause that saw TV
soap star and Palm Springs icon Bobbie Eakes present her latest designs
in a show-stopping runway show held at Steve and Joelle’s - a 7,500
square foot compound aptly named The Stanbridge House of Shu-Shu.
Joelle, of course, is known by ‘The Pops’ (the People of Palm Springs) as
‘Lady Shu-Shu’! A men’s fashion collection was shown by Robert Damour
at Highestform Boutique.
PS Friends of Animal Shelter brought adoptable pets. Silent Auction
donors were TRIO, Tropicale, 849, Body Deli, Target, Skinn by Dimitri
James, Casa Moderno, Richard Read Interiors and many more. DJ Blake
Master generously donated his time and pumped out fabulous music for
the style show.
The event was an immense success. In fact, Steve Stanbridge told me it
was one of their best to date. Joelle told me that she wouldn’t know the
exact amount raised for the Palm Springs Animal Shelter before press but
it is the region of $7400, which is excellent news! I will reveal full details
in the next issue of LIVE Magazine.

A RETURN TO J.K. ROWLING’S WIZARDING WORLD
Burbank, CA – As the excitement built for the November 18th opening
of Warner Bros. Pictures’ new adventure “Fantastic Beasts and
Where to Find Them,” fans got to experience some of the film’s
magic early at the global celebration A RETURN TO J.K. ROWLING’S
WIZARDING WORLD. The worldwide fan event kicked in October
simultaneously in major cities in the U.S. and internationally.
Sue Kroll, Warner Bros. Pictures’ President of Worldwide Marketing
and Distribution, stated, “The enthusiasm and support of wizarding
world fans everywhere has meant so much to us, as well as the filmmakers.
We are proud to share some exciting footage from ‘Fantastic
Beasts and Where to Find Them’ at this global event created just
for them, and are especially thrilled that most can experience it in
IMAX.”
Attendees were treated to a never-before-seen reel featuring some
of the thrilling moments from the much-anticipated film. Talent from
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” joined the celebration,
in person, at two IMAX theatres, in London and Los Angeles, to welcome
the fans.

• In London: Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison
Sudol, Dan Fogler, and director David Yates were on hand.
• In Los Angeles: Colin Farrell and Jon Voight were in attendance.
Fans gathered at those locations, as well as attendees watching
from IMAX theatres in New York, Sao Paulo and Mexico
City, as well as a non-IMAX theatre in Rome, were able to submit
questions to the stars and director during the Q&A. It was a
rare opportunity to learn more about the story and their thrilling
foray into a new era of the wizarding world.
The footage shown, as well as the Q&A, was streamed live online
at www.facebook.com/fantasticbeastsmovie so eager fans
around the world could share in the excitement.
Fans at each location were presented with a specially designed
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” exclusive t-shirt,
commemorating the worldwide event, as well as a collectible
mini-poster.
As an added bonus, audiences in the U.S. theatres stayed for
a special screening of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,”
presented for the first time ever in IMAX.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as
Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find
and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures.
Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come

for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the
escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell

Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.
Redmayne will play J.K. Rowling’s creation Newt Scamander, the Wizarding
World’s preeminent magizoologist, who in his travels has encountered and
documented a myriad of magical creatures, ultimately leading to his penning
