Visākho Dhammadinnaṁ g<strong>an</strong>dhodakena nahāpetvā,<br />
Visākha had Dhammadinnā washed with scented water,<br />
sabbālaṅkārehi alaṅkārāpetvā, 36 sovaṇṇasivikāya nisīdāpetvā,<br />
decorated with all her decorations, sat her down in the golden pal<strong>an</strong>quin,<br />
ñātigaṇena 37 parivārāpetvā, g<strong>an</strong>dhapupphādīhi pūjayamāno,<br />
gathered their relations around her, <strong>an</strong>d while worshipping with scented flowers <strong>an</strong>d so<br />
on,<br />
nagaravās<strong>an</strong>aṁ karonto viya bhikkhuni-upassayaṁ 38 g<strong>an</strong>tvā,<br />
as though he was perfuming the city, he took her to the nunnery,<br />
“Ayye, Dhammadinnaṁ pabbājethā,” 39 ti āha.<br />
<strong>an</strong>d said: “Noble Ladies, you must give Dhammadinnā the going forth.”<br />
Bhikkhuniyo: “Ekaṁ vā dve vā dose sahituṁ vaṭṭati, gahapatī,” ti āhaṁsu.<br />
<strong>The</strong> nuns said: “Householder, it is suitable to bear with one or two faults.”<br />
“Natth’ 40 Ayye koci doso, saddhāya pabbajatī.” ti<br />
“<strong>The</strong>re are no faults at all, Noble Ladies, she goes forth out of faith.”<br />
Athekā byattā <strong>The</strong>rī tacapañcakakammaṭṭhānaṁ ācikkhitvā,<br />
<strong>The</strong>n one learned Elder nun informed her about the five-fold meditation subject<br />
beginning with skin, 41<br />
kese ohāretvā pabbājesi.<br />
shaved her hair <strong>an</strong>d gave her the going forth.<br />
Visākho: “Abhiram’ Ayye, svākkhāto Dhammo,” ti v<strong>an</strong>ditvā pakkāmi.<br />
Visākha said: “Rejoice in the well-taught Dhamma, Noble Lady,” then worshipped her<br />
<strong>an</strong>d departed.<br />
Tassā pabbajitadivasato paṭṭhāya lābhasakkāro uppajji.<br />
From the day she went forth m<strong>an</strong>y gains <strong>an</strong>d much honour arose to her.<br />
