inden for akademiets mure i 1908.
In the spring of 2004, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen
turned 250, which was festively celebrated. However, to most people, it was a
well kept secret that women could not be included in the party since women were
not accepted at the Academy before 1908.
In 2008, architects Tanja Jordan and Rikke Lequick Larsen took the initiative to
celebrate that women had been a part of the Academy for 100 years. This publication
documents the centennial with transcribed speeches from the international
centennial symposium, a description of the anniversary exhibition, extracts from
the video films produced for the occasion and articles written specifically for this
publication.
With both historical nods to the past and predictions about the future, this book
portrays those female architects who were not celebrated nor mentioned when
the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts turned 250.
The publication contains both English and Danish essays.
