Beatriz Colomina
Professor Beatriz Colomina delivered the following speech at the centennial
symposium. The speech revolved around the relationship between
Eileen Gray and Le Corbusier, revealing his obsession with Eileen Gray and
her architecture.
At the symposium, Female Forces introduced Beatriz Colomina with the following words:
“We are proud to present Beatriz Colomina from New York. She is professor of architecture at
Princeton University and head of the bachelor department. She was educated as an architect in
Barcelona and has been resident in NYC since 1980. She has taught in many places, among others
at Columbia University as well as lecturing worldwide.
She has written or edited three important books on architecture and gender: Privacy and Publicity,
Sexuality and Space and lately Domesticity at War, which was published in 2007 by MIT press.
We are indeed very happy that you are here, and we welcome you.”
