[Kepleri Opera ed. Frisch VII p. 215.K. had already in 1604 in the preface to his
Ad Vitellionem Paralipomena said of the observations...:
"libros 24lectorsciataTychonerelictos esse, quosopportunotempore in lucem
prodituros spero." Opera ll p. 127 .l

He took up the ideaagain after publishing his Tabulæ Rudolphinæ.2Oct.1627
he wrote from Frankfurt to his friend Bernegger:
"Observationum Tychonis excudendarum causa, circumspicio occasiones
manandi in German ia superiori."

On Aug. 17 . 1628 he wrote to T.s youngest son George that he hoped very soon
to commence the printing. He pointed out that Willebrord Snellius in his book
"Observationes Hessicæ" (Lugduni Bat. 1618) had printed an abstract of
Tycho's observations made in the years I 600 & I 60 I . Kepler thinks that in order
to dothat Snellius must have hadthe folio-volume oforiginal observations ("den
gantzen sibenden Tomum in folio des Protocolls"), and he asks G. Brahe if this
volume might have been carried away from Prague during the disturbances in
1618.
This is very curious, as this volume in 1628 must have been in Kepler's
possession since his son afterwards sold it with the other volumes. But nothing
came of the intended edition, as Kepler already died on Nov. 15. 1630, and
