THE TOWN OF THE GREEN PALACE
Fredensborg is known for its famous landmark,
Fredensborg Palace - the summer residence of the
royal family. The palace is located right by Esrum
Lake. Take a walk in the beautiful palace garden. Go sailing on
Esrum Lake and enjoy the peaceful and incredible view. The lake
banks in Sørup are ideal for a break and a great place to enjoy
something to eat or drink. Combine a cup of coffee or a meal
in Fredensborg with a walk down the pedestrian street with its
many charming streets and alleys.
Adventure Trails Fredensborg
Discover the rich cultural heritage and unique history of
Fredensborg. Uncover the royal town’s intriguing stories and
characters as you follow the marked trails. On the way, you pass
by the shopping street, The Queen’s castle, Esrum Lake and so
much more. We recommend at least two hours for the walk.
There is so much to see on the way.
The route is between 2 and 3 kilometres long and child-friendly.
Nivå lies like a unique green and natural pearl
and natural oasis on the North Sealand coastline,
surrounded by forest, moss, river, beach, and clay
pit lakes. Nivå’s nature and history are strongly
linked to its brickwork production. Visit the unique Ring
Oven. Admire Nivaagaard’s Art Collection and enjoy the giant
rhododendron garden. Discover the rich bird life in the unique
protected salt marshes near the Sound. The water sports area
by the harbour and beach park offers challenging fun for young
and old alike. Nivå Harbour is a great place to enjoy a steaming
cup of coffee, a beer, or a delicious meal as you soak up the
harbour atmosphere.
Nivå Walking Route
Explore Nivå via the small streets and paths that only locals
know. This walking route starts where you want it to start, by
the train station or where you parked the car. On the way, you
will see traces of the town’s long history of brick production,
charming neighbourhoods, open landscapes by the sea rich
in birdlife, the sandy beach close to great restaurants near the
harbour, and the romantic garden surrounding the art museum,
The Nivaagaard Collection.
The route is 6.5 kilometres long and child-friendly.
A part of the route is on a dirt road that may be
slippery after rain.
THE LIVELY TOWN OF CULTURE
The town is brimming with first-class art and
cultural experiences and many speciality shops,
cafés, and restaurants. Krogerup Farm Store and
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art – are always worth visiting.
Humlebæk’s long coastline with harbours, beaches and culture
offers plenty of activities, relaxation and fun.
Humlebæk Walking Route
See what Humlebæk has to offer. Already at the train station,
you will be greeted with art in the form of renowned artist Per
Kirkeby’s sculpture in red brick. Walk from Humlebæk train
station to Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and explore its
exhibitions of world-class art. Make a stop at Humlebæk marina
for a cup of coffee or a meal in the cosy surroundings while you
enjoy the view of the Øresund strait. The route will take you past
the beautiful green landscape and the farmland of Krogerup.
The route is 3.5 kilometres long and child-friendly.
