SCAN FOR MORE INFO THE QUEEN'S ROUND - CYCLING FROM NIVÅ TO THE QUEEN'S CASTLE Roll out along the 40 km long Queen's Round - a signposted cycle route that winds from Nivå on the Øresund coast into the country to Denmark's second largest lake and the Queen's castle, Fredensborg. Nivå bears the marks of its past as an area with large brickworks, where Nivaagaards Teglværk's kiln remains as the world's oldest existing kiln. Next to it is the Nivaagaards Painting Collection with artworks from the Northern European Renaissance, the Baroque, and Danish Golden Age art. Continue onto Ny Strandvej to Nivå Strandpark, which entices with a beautiful shallow and child-friendly beach. Shortly after Nivå harbour, turn right onto Gammel Strandvej and through the picturesque fishing village of Sletten. If modern art speaks to your senses, continue to Humlebæk and visit the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Enjoy the great art and a lunch in the café with a fantastic view over the Øresund. From Sletten and Humlebæk, there is an asphalt cycle path to Fredensborg and a photo stop in front of Fredensborg Castle. If there are guards in the guardhouses, then the queen lives in the castle - maybe you can catch a glimpse of her. Continue down Skipper Allé to Esrum Lake and Sørup, where the view tempts you to take a break. The route passes by the old mill in Karlebo and continues to Kokkedal. Follow the signs through the Holmegård district to Banestien. At Nivåen, continue straight ahead to Nivå Station.
