Coulomb explosion imaging method to visualize the coherent motion of bound wave packets using ultrashort
(5 fs), intense pump-probe laser pulses. With this type of experiment decoherence times in the fs
to ps range could be directly measured providing essential information for coherent control.
12 a.u. kinematisch vollständig untersucht.
Appearance of non first-Bron effects in (e,3e) on helium
We analyze (e,3e) processes on helium, with one fast and two slow electrons in the final channel, where
strong deviations from a first-Born description were reported recently (Lahmam-Bennani 2001). The four
particle continuum is described in different approximations leading up to a 6C wave function which takes
all two-body Coulomb interactions into account. It is shown that deviations from a first-Born description
arise from two different effects which are important in two different energy regions.
Interference Blockade in the electron transport through organic molecules
Using the Landauer conductance formalism, we found dramatic differences in the electron transmission
through the trans and cis isomers of stilbene. The reason for this effect can be traced back to an interference
mechanism of the electron taking different pathways along the second phenyl ring. This suggests
a straightforward conductance control in such molecular systems.
X-ray transitions studied for decelerated bare and h-like uranium ions at the ESR electron
cooler
Here we report on X-ray spectra induced by spontaneous capture of free electrons into decelerated bare
and hydrogen like uranium ions which we measured at the cooler section of the ESR storage ring. The
most intense lines observed in spectra can be attributed to direct transition of electrons into the K shell
of the projectile ions and to characteristic transitions (From L to K shell). Radiative recombination lines
into the K shell of bare and H-like uranium can be exploited for measuring the two-electron contribution
to the ground state binding energy in helium-like uranium. The goal is to probe for high-Z ions boundstate
QED corrections which are of the order of alpha 2 . Besides the dominant characteristic (L to K)
transitions, the strongly reduced bremsstrahlung (due to the low cooler voltage applied to the decelerated
ions) allowed us to observe for the very first time RR transitions into the L shell as well as the balmer
radiation located at the low energy part of the spectra.
