Everyone talks about environmental protection.
We do something about it
Environmental protection and technology cannot be mutually exclusive. We therefore do everything we can to keep
pollution to a minimum.
Our paint shops and dip-primer lines use exclusively environmentally friendly water-based paints. All products are
manufactured using processes that use resources efficiently. We also use environmentally friendly part cleaning
machines in all production areas and production and machine oils that do not contain CFCs. We use selection and
waste recycling to reduce the volume of waste we produce as much as possible. We reuse filler material in boxes
to protect products during transport.
In 2004, SEW-EURODRIVE took on the challenge of converting soldering processes in its electronics production to
using lead-free technology. Today, the company already offers products that are manufactured using only low levels
of harmful substances. These efforts are in line with the EU RoHS Directive and the planned law on electronic
equipment, which will ban the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybromide biphenyl (PBB)
and polybromide diphenyl ether (PBDE) in electrical and electronic equipment as of July 1, 2006. Even though industrial
electronics are not (yet) affected by this ban, SEW-EURODRIVE wanted to use this opportunity to go one
step further in helping itself and its customers protect the environment.
We conserve resources, even in our documentation. We now use thinner paper for our catalogs, thus helping
protect forests.
