GUIDE FOR THE USE OF THE INDEX
The Index attempts to follow as much as possible the subject
categories suggested by the material itself. This has resulted
in the eight types of indexes included, and determined many of
the internal categories.
Categories such as announcements, advertisements, world news,
and numerous miscellaneous "filler" articles of a popular
nature which are of little relevance for Mennonite life and
thought by virtue of authorship or subject matter have been
omitted. Poems when authored by Mennonites have been
included.

List of Articles and Author Index: All
signed articles are arranged in
alphabetical order by author. Therefore
this list of titles can be used directly
as an author index.
Where the author of an article is
identified only by one or more letters
(usually initials), those letters
determine the location of the article in
the alphabetical author list. In the
Gothic type the capitals "I" and "J" are
identical. Therefore in cases where the
correct initial was not known, it was
recorded as "J."
An article submitted by or on behalf of
two or more authors is listed under the
name of the person listed first. Thus,
an article by Peter Warkentin and John
Dyck appears under Warkentin, Peter.
List of Articles without Author Index:
Completely anonymous articles are listed
at the end of the author index section in
chronological order of their appearance
in the Wahrheitsfreund.
All entries in the last two sections are
numbered consecutively, in order that
subsequent references to them in the subject
and scripture indexes can be made by means
of this number.
