Liebe Leserinnen und liebe Leser,
liebe Kreative,
das Wirken von Kunst, Kultur und
damit von vielen Kreativen setzt in
Cottbus nicht nur unverzichtbare
Impulse, aus denen eine gemeinsame
Identität und verlässliche Werte
hervorgehen. Es ist vielmehr auch
ein dynamischer Wirtschaftsfaktor
für unsere Stadt, der voller gesellschaftlicher
Innovationen steckt und
Arbeitsplätze schafft. Cottbus, die
Sport- und Gesundheitsstadt, ist
zudem Standort der Wissenschaft
und Energieindustrie, sie ist aber
auch eine Stadt der Kultur und der
Kreativen.
Unter diesem Blickwinkel ist es
eine besondere Anerkennung und
ein Gewinn, dass Cottbus als Teil
des europäischen Projektes „Urban

the work of art, culture and so many
creative people in Cottbus provides
not only indispensable impetus
from which a common identity and
reliable values emerge. Rather, it is
also a dynamic economic factor for
our city, which is full of social innovation
and creates jobs. Cottbus, a
city of sports and health, is also the
location of science and the energy
industry, and furthermore it is a city
of culture and creativity.
From this perspective, it is a special
recognition and a gain that
Cottbus as part of the European

UCP – über das Projekt
Das INTERREG IV B Projekt
URBAN CREATIVE POLES
beschäftigt sich mit der
Förderung und Stärkung der
Kreativwirtschaft in den fünf
Partnerstädten Cottbus (D),
Linköping (SE), Tartu (EE),
Zielona Gora (PL) und Klaipeda
(LT). Im Vordergrund stehen
dabei vor allem klein- und
mittelständige Unternehmen
sowie Selbständige aus den
unterschiedlichen Teilbereichen
der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft.
Dabei werden in einem
integrierten Ansatz klassische
Instrumente der Wirtschaftsförderung
(z.B. Marketing,
Netzwerkbildung) mit
Coaching- und Weiterbildungsprogrammen
sowie
Maßnahmen der Stadt(teil)
entwicklung zusammengeführt.
In Cottbus arbeiten der
Lehrstuhl Stadtmanagement
der BTU Cottbus sowie die
Entwicklungsgesellschaft
Cottbus GmbH (EGC)
gemeinsam am Projekt.

The INTERREG IV B project UR-
BAN CREATIVE POLES deals
with the fostering and promotion
of cultural and creative
industries in the five partner
cities Cottbus (D), Linköping
(SE), Tartu (EE), Zielona Gora
(PL) and Klaipeda (LT).
The main focus is on small- and
medium-sized enterprises as
well as self-employed people
from various sub-branches of
cultural and creative industries.
In an integrated approach
classical instruments of business
development (e.g. marketing,
networking) are combined
with coaching and mentoring
activities as well as measures of
urban development.
In Cottbus the local UCP
project team consists of the
Chair of Urban Management
of the Brandenburg University
of Technology and the
Economic Development
Agency of Cottbus.

Als Standort auch für Kultur, Wissenschaft und
Wirtschaft bietet Cottbus reichlich Nährboden
für Kreative. Das beweisen fast 400 in der Stadt
tätige Unternehmen und Einrichtungen in der
Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft, die im Rahmen
einer Analyse des Projekts URBAN CREATIVE
POLES ermittelt wurden. Die vielen „Freizeitkreativen“
wurden in dieser Analyse nicht einmal
erfasst. Dabei gestaltet sich die kreative Branche
auch in Cottbus so heterogen wie kaum ein
anderer Wirtschaftszweig. Das Kreativpotenzial
der Stadt entfaltet sich in sämtlichen kreativen
Teilmärkten, die durch die Enquête-Kommission
„Kultur in Deutschland“ definiert wurden und in
oben stehender Infografik sichtbar sind.
Das Spektrum reicht von großen Medienverlagen
über Kulturbetriebe bis zu Einzelunternehmern.
Sie machen zusammen einen Anteil von knapp
6% an der Gesamtwirtschaft der Stadt aus –
schaffen darüber hinaus allerdings entscheidende
Synergie-Effekte für die Lebensqualität in
Cottbus, die in Werten kaum zu beziffern sind.
Der Wert der Kreativwirtschaft liegt im Einklang
aus wachsender Wirtschaftskraft und den Außenwirkungen
der vielfältigen kreativen Leistungen,
die das Leben in einer Großstadt wie Cottbus erst
lebenswert machen. Ohne seine Kreativen wäre
Cottbus nicht denkbar.
As a location for culture, science and
business Cottbus offers ample breeding ground
for creative people. Nearly 400 active companies
and organizations in the various branches of
culture and creative industries prove this, which
was determined by an analysis carried out within
the scope of the project URBAN CREATIVE
POLES. The many „free-time creatives“ were not
even recorded in this analysis. The creative industries
in Cottbus are very heterogeneous compared
to the other industries. The creative potential
of the city unfolds in all creative sub-markets
that were defined by the Commission of Inquiry
„Culture in Germany“ and is visible in the above
chart. The spectrum ranges from major media
publishers via arts organizations through to sole
proprietorships. They together account for a
share of almost 6% in the overall economy of the
city – but also create significant synergy effects
for the quality of life in Cottbus, which barely can
be quantified in values. The value of the creative
industries is in line with the economic prosperity
and the external effects of the diverse creative
services that make life in a city like Cottbus worth
living. Without its creative scene Cottbus would
be unthinkable.

Hamm seit jeher schätzt. Ihr Interesse
für Archäologie und Gestaltung
führten sie, bestimmt durch Farbe,
Licht und Feuer, zur Glaskunst,
welche vor 5.000 Jahren in Mesopotamien
ihren Ursprung nahm.
Heute erhitzt sie in ihrer Werkstatt
Glasstäbe über der offenen Flamme
und formt sie zu Schmuck und Objekten.

heats glass rods in her workshop
above an open fire and moulds it
into jewellery and objects. She gains
her inspiration from nature and has
particularly brought the flower technique
to perfection. Her transparent
3D objects and her glass jewellery
have been exhibited in several
museums and find many lovers
especially in America.

In Mona Hökes Malerei sind oft
literarische Texte der Ausgangspunkt,
sie geben Anstoß für Farbe
und Form. Am Ende bleiben in ihren
Bildern, bei denen sie gern auch
große Formate nutzt, geheimnisvolle
Zeichen sichtbar. Mit wiederkehrenden
Mischtechniken setzt
sie das Klare gegen das Verspielte,
das Dunkle gegen das Helle, das
Ornament gegen das Symbol. Es ist
der Klang von Worten, den sie über
Farbe und Form, emotional und
intuitiv zugleich, selbstbewusst ins
Bild setzt. So baut sie seit Jahren an
einer Brücke zwischen Malerei und
Literatur. Ihre Vorliebe für abstrakte
Expressionisten spiegelt sich dabei
auch in ihrem Schaffen wider.
Die Autodidaktin kam Mitte der
1990er als Quereinsteigerin zur
Kunst und kann seitdem auf eine
beachtliche Ausstellungstätigkeit
und verschiedene Kunstpreise
verweisen. Mona Höke steht heute
für eine neue, junge Generation
Cottbuser Kreativer.
In Mona Höke’s paintings
literature is often the starting point
and gives the impetus for colour and
form. In the end it is the mysterious
characters that remain visible in her
large-format pictures.
With recurring mixing techniques
she contrasts the clear against the
playfulness, the dark against the
light, the ornament against the symbol.
It is the sound of words that she
confidently puts into the spotlight
with colour and shape – emotionally
and intuitively at the same time.
So she has been building a bridge
between painting and literature for
years. Her preference for abstract
expressionists is also reflected in her
work. The autodidact came to arts
as a newcomer in the mid-1990s and
can since then point to a remarkable
variety of exhibitions and art prizes.
Today Mona Höke stands for a new,
young generation of creatives in
Cottbus.

Joe Kammer geht in seiner
Fotografie auf die Suche nach dem
Inneren der Porträtierten und lässt
auch ursprüngliche, hässliche, aber
ebenso ehrliche Seiten zu. Er findet
in seinen Fotos auch das Schöne,
Selbstbewusste in unscheinbar anmutenden
Individuen. Über längere
Zeiträume sind so ohne Zwang zur
Serie seine Motivsammlungen wie
„Zeitzeichen“ oder „Lebensräume“
entstanden. Sein Gespür für
Einblicke in die Seele des Porträtierten
nutzen viele Cottbuser Künstler,
und lassen sich für Ausstellungskataloge
von Joe Kammer ablichten.
Eigentlich als Grafiker tätig, hat er
sich die Fotografie als Autodidakt
erschlossen. Unter seinen Motiven
finden sich ausdrucksstarke Gesichter,
(sub)urbane Landschaften
sowie teils skurrile Alltagsbeobachtungen.
Sein grafisches Schaffen
reicht von der gezeichneten Illustration
über den Logoentwurf bis hin
zum Theaterplakat.
Joe Kammer is searching for the
soul of the persons portrayed and
also allows unique, ugly, but just
honest sides in his photography.
In his photographs he also finds
the beauty and self-confidence in
seemingly insignificant individuals.
Over a lengthy period of time he
has developed his subject collections
such as „Zeitzeichen" (Signs
of time) or „Lebensräume" (Living
spaces) without being forced to
create series. His flair for insight into
the soul of the person he is portraying
is used by many Cottbus artists
who let their photographs being
taken by Joe Kammer for exhibition
catalogues. Actually working as a
graphic designer Joe has taught
himself photography. His subjects
range from meaningful portraits,
(sub)urban landscapes or sometimes
bizarre moments in passing.
His works as graphic designer range
from illustrations to logo-design and
theatre posters.

Mit Anfang 30 kam Matthias
Körner zur Kunst. Erst nach Ausbildungen
zum Krankenpfleger,
Arbeitstherapeuten und Töpfer
folgten private Studien der Malerei,
u.a. bei Rainer Zille in Dresden.
Heute ist Kunst in vielen Ausdrucksformen
sein Mittel, den Umgang
mit Anderen zu gestalten. Seine
rege Ausstellungstätigkeit unter
„ Das Leben ist mir immer
wichtiger als die Kunst“
malt dies. Körners Werke haben in
vielen Sammlungen, in öffentlichen
und privaten Räumen, ihren festen
Platz gefunden. Matthias Körner
betreibt neben seiner künstlerischen
Tätigkeit eine „Werkstatt für
Intagliotypie“(fototiefdruck.de).
Hier setzt er Fotografien seiner
Kunden mit Hilfe seiner speziellen
Drucktechnik in hochwertige
Original-Tiefdruck-Grafik um,
schafft mit dieser Technik aber auch
eigene künstlerische Arbeiten,
die bereits ausgezeichnet wurden.
Matthias Körner became an artist
when he was in his thirties. Private
studies of painting followed his
vocational training as a male nurse,
occupational therapist and potter,
amongst others he was trained by
„ Life has always been more
important to me than art.“
Rainer Zille in Dresden. Today, art
in many forms of expression is his
instrument to interact with others
as many of his exhibitions show.
Körner’s pieces have found their
spot in many collections as well
as in public and private spaces.
Alongside his artistic activities
Matthias Körner operates a
„Workshop for Intagliotype“
(fototiefdruck.de) where he
transfers photographs of his
customers into high-quality
original gravure graphics by using
his special printing technique but
also creates its own art works
which have already been awarded.

Spürbar und bestimmend für das
Werk Lehmann-Westphals ist das
künstlerische Untersuchen extremer
Positionen. Äußere Einflüsse und
innerseelische Gratwanderung bilden
die Grundlage für den Aufbau
extremer Spannungsfelder. Sensibel
erzählt sie vom Sein und Nichtsein,
vom Werden und Vergehen, von
Hoffnung und Enttäuschung, von
Beständigem und Temporärem.
In ihrem Werk wird Dualität zum
künstlerischen Wirkungsprinzip.
Die gelernte Handelsökonomin und
„ Nichts lässt mich unberührt.
So verweben sich Außen
und Innen.“
Maßschneiderin fand mit der Freiheit
der 90er Jahre zur Malerei. Seit
1996 arbeitet sie als freischaffende
Malerin mit reger Ausstellungstätigkeit.
Für den sie bestimmenden
Dualismus spricht auch die acht
Jahre währende Leitung des Malund
Zeichenzirkels im Cottbuser
Männerstrafvollzug.
Noticeable and decisive for
Lehmann-Westphal’s work is
the artistic analysis of extreme
positions. External influences and
intrapsychic tightrope walks form
the basis for the development of
extreme tension in her work.
„ Nothing leaves me untouched.
Thus inside and outside
interweave.“
Sensitively she tells of being and
non-being, of growth and decay,
of hope and disappointment, of
continuity and temporality. Duality
is an active artistic principle in her
work. Trained as an economist and
seamstress she began painting in the
1990's. Since 1996 she has worked
as a freelance artist who is often
represented on exhibitions.
She was the instructor of the
painting and drawing course in
the men's prison in Cottbus for
eight years, which speaks for her
determinative dualism.

Fotografien sind als Fotokunst in
streng limitierten Auflagen erhältlich,
aber auch als Auftragsarbeit.
Im Rahmen ihres Künstlerkollektivs
entwickelt und verwirklicht Mirjam
Ludwig Konzepte für ein Foto-
„ Wir übertreiben es nicht
mit der Kunst und machen
doch nur Kunst!“
Design, das die Protagonisten in
Selbstinszenierungen, im ehrlichen
Selbst oder in überzogenen Persiflagen
darstellt. Sweetender + cleanish
haben bereits in Kanada, Irland,
Großbritannien und Deutschland
gearbeitet, Ausstellungen gestaltet
und Bücher publiziert. Sie arbeiten
heute für Zeitschriften, Magazine,
Agenturen – aber auch für individuelle
Kunden mit dem Wunsch nach
dem eigenen, besonderen Foto.
Miriam Ludwig, born in 1978,
creates a symbiosis of art photography
and a challenging photo
design. Her photographs are
available as photo art in strictly
limited editions, but also as
commissioned works. As part of
her team of artists Miriam Ludwig
„ We do not overdo art
and still just do art!“
develops and implements concepts
for a photo design that represents
the protagonists in a self-staging, in
their honest self or in exaggerated
persiflage. Sweetender + cleanish
have already worked in Canada,
Ireland, the UK and Germany, have
designed exhibitions and published
books. Today they work for newspapers,
magazines, agencies –
but also for individual customers
who wish to have their own,
unique photo.

Steffen Mertens arbeitet wie der
Garten, in dem er lebt, wie ein Teil
der ihn umgebenden Natur ... Wie
knospende Gewächse recken sich
schmale Skulpturen in den Himmel
... Es ist ein närrisches Treiben.
Überall sind Spuren zu sehen, überall
Arbeit, doch nirgends sieht sie
bemüht aus oder gequält. Alles ist
von seltener Leichtigkeit ... So auch
in den Zeichnungen ... Spielerisch
leicht wirken die Gebilde, feine,
feinsinnige Liniengespinste weben
sich über das Blatt. Mit Tusche werden

Steffen Mertens works like the
garden where he lives, as a part
of the surrounding nature. Small
sculptures are stretching into the
sky like budding plants ... It is a
hustle and bustle. Traces are visible
everywhere, work is everywhere but
it never looks exerted. Everything
is of rare lightness ... as in his drawings
... the shapes appear playful,
fine, subtle line webs move across
the sheet. Ink curves invite further
exaggerations. The finished sheets,
including those coming along very
easily, have a density that defies the
quick glance ... The balancing act.

Ekaterina Orba wurde in Russland
geboren, besuchte dort die Kinderkunstschule
und absolvierte eine
Ausbildung zur Künstlerin. Später
begann sie ein Architektur-Studium
in Sankt Petersburg, das sie nach
ihrem Umzug nach Cottbus an der
hiesigen Universität abschloss.
Seit 2003 ist sie als Künstlerin und
Architektin selbständig. In ihrer
Malerei schöpft sie ihre Inspiration
aus der Umwelt, sie reduziert die
Motive zu abstrakten räumlichen
und figürlichen Kompositionen
und realisiert diese in ihrer spezifischen
Farbenwelt. Minimalistische
Gestalten und Gesichter, zu Mustern
transformierte Landschaften und
geometrische Farbflächen sind für
ihre Werke charakteristisch.
Die Bilder vermitteln dem Betrachter
ein Gefühl der Leichtigkeit und
Ruhe. Ekaterina Orba lebt in Cottbus
und leitet neben ihrer Arbeit als
Künstlerin eine private Malschule,

Ekaterina Orba was born in
Russia where she attended the
Children's Art School and
completed a training as an artist.
Later she began studying
architecture in St. Petersburg and
graduated from Brandenburg
University of Technology after
moving to Cottbus. Since 2003,
she has been a self-employed artist
and architect. In her painting she
draws her inspiration from the
environment, she reduces the motifs
to abstract spatial and figurative
compositions and implements them
in her specific world of colours.
Minimalist forms and faces, landscapes
transformed into patterns
and geometric areas of colour are
characteristic for her work.
The images give the viewer a sense
of ease and tranquility.

Günther Rechn hat es in
seiner figürlichen und gegenständlichen

lebenslange Auseinandersetzung

Augen ihm zeigen und die Fantasie

Scheuereckers Bilder erzählen
von Liebe, Trauer, Glück, Verlorenheit
und Tod. Von Einsamkeit
und Lebensgier. Beide grenzenlos.
Das können sie nur, weil sie so
privat sind. Farbe wird bei Hans
Scheuerecker immer ganz flach
gesetzt, erscheint ausschließlich als
Farbfläche oder farbige Lineatur.
Zugleich wird die Farbe in scharfer
Flächenabgrenzung, hart aufeinanderstoßend
und sich gegenseitig
durchschneidend, unverstellt in
ihrer emotionalen Ausstrahlung
aktiviert. Das wirkt derb, saftig,
und dann wieder von anrührender
Zartheit. Seit 1979 ist Scheuerecker
als freischaffender Maler, Grafiker,
Aktionist und Bühnenbildner tätig,
bis heute auch mit Tagebüchern in
Gedichtform und Fotoarbeiten.
Seine Werke sind in vielen öffentlichen
und privaten Kunstsammlungen
zu finden, sowohl national
als auch international. Oft strotzen
sie vor Körperlichkeit, Fleischlichkeit,
Erotik, Sex. Und strahlende
Farbigkeit macht daraus ein Fest
der Sinne.
Scheuerecker's paintings tell of
love, sadness, happiness, forlornness
and death. Of loneliness and lust
for life. Both limitless. They only can
do this because they are so private.
Colour always appears entirely flat,
only as a matte or coloured lineation
by Hans Scheuerecker. At the same
time, the colour is enabled in sharp
demarcation area, pushing hard on
and cutting through each other, undisguised
in their emotional appeal.
This makes the paintings massive,
juicy, and then again of touching
tenderness. Since 1979 Scheuerecker
has worked as a freelance painter,
graphic artist, stage designer and
campaigner, today with diaries in
poetry and photography. His works
are represented in many public and
private collections, both nationally
and internationally. Often, they are
bursting with physicality, carnality,
eroticism, sex. And bright colour
makes it a feast for the senses.

Die Leidenschaft zum Holz
hat Hans-Georg Wagner schon
als Kind entdeckt. Sie führte ihn
zum Beruf des Tischlers und dann
zum Studium der Holzgestaltung
an die Hochschule Schneeberg.
Neben Bildhauerei und Kunst im
öffentlichen Raum hat Wagner auch
„ Ich kann mir das nicht
aussuchen. Ich bin zum
Bildhauer geboren.“
Möbel und Inneneinrichtungen
designt und baut in seiner zweiten
großen Leidenschaft Kanus, mit
denen er es im Kunstpaddeln zur
Perfektion gebracht hat. Allerdings
ist es immer die Bildhauerei und die
Arbeit mit dem Material Holz, die
ihn antreibt. Mit der Holzplastik
„Selbst“ gewann er den Brandenburgischen
Kunstpreis 2012, seine
bislang größte Skulptur, ein riesiger
Teufel samt Ochsengespann, pflügt
seit ebendiesem Jahr die Spreeaue.
Hans-Georg Wagner discovered

carpenter and then to study artistic
wood design at the University of
Schneeberg. In addition to sculpture
and art in public spaces Wagner has

born to be a sculptor.“
also designed furniture as
well as interiors and builds canoes
in his second great passion where
he brought art paddles to
perfection. However, there is always
the sculpture and working with the
material wood, which drives him.
With the wooden sculpture „On the
Way“ he won the Brandenburg Art
Prize in 2012, since then his largest
sculpture, a giant devil including
oxen is ploughing the meadows of
the river Spree.

a small bag manufacturer, which is
run by two sisters with a passion
for design and fashion.
They manufacture beautiful handmade
iPhone cases, iPad cases and
Kindle cases as well as customized
bags on individual demand!

All bags are made in a very small
number of pieces from carefully
selected materials and sewn in a
high quality in Lusatia, a region in
East Germany. The bags are produced
in very small quantities. Silke
Hoff and Romy Behrendt feel inspired
by Cottbus’ past when textile
mills were a sign of a long tradition
in the textile industry which they
also want to recall with their work.

Aleksandra Klusak wurde 1973 in
Ostrow (Wlkp.) in Polen geboren.
Sie absolvierte die Fachhochschule
Zielona Gora als Diplom-Pädagogin
mit dem Schwerpunkt sozio-kultureller
Erziehung sowie als staatlich
geprüfte Theatererzieherin. Als
freiberufliche Modedesignerin und
Pachtwork-Künstlerin betreibt sie
ihr eigenes Label „Alter Moda“, das
vor allem auf originelle Handtaschen
und Mode-Accessoires fokussiert ist.

Sie legt großen Wert auf die
Verwendung bezahlbarer und ökologisch
unbedenklicher Materialien.
Jedes Stück ist ein Unikat, wobei

der Handmade- und Fairtrade-
Kultur. Ihre besonderen Interessen

Aleksandra Klusak was born in

She graduated from college in
Zielona Gora with a degree in
Educational Sciences with a focus
on socio-cultural education and she
is also a certified theatre teacher.
As a freelance fashion designer and
„ live inside, cerate outside“
patchwork artist she runs her
own label „Alter Moda“, which
is primarily focused on original
handbags and fashion accessories.
Aleksandra places great emphasis
on using affordable and ecologically
sound materials. Each piece
is unique and with a customized
design, if required. She is a
passionate advocate of handmade
and fair trade culture. Her special
interests include vegetarianism and
the environment.

Das Künstlerpaar Kuschela und
Voigt betreibt gemeinsam einen
Liebhaber-Kunstladen in Burg/
Spreewald und arbeitet auch
gemeinsam. Marita Kuschela
widmet sich neben der Restaurierung
historischer Glasmalereien und
der Dekoration von Hohlglas verschiedenen
Glasschmelztechniken.
Mit altbekannten Veredlungstechniken
und moderner Glasschmelztechnik
(Fusing) gestaltet sie Objekte,
in denen sich die Transparenz,
Farbigkeit und Formbarkeit des
Werkstoffs Glas wiederspiegelt.
Bernd Voigt gestaltet Aufbaukeramiken,
deren Färbungen durch
Braunstein, Eisen und Brand
entstehen, seit 2010 gestaltet er
Oberflächen auch in Holzbränden
durch Metalloxide und vor allem
durch Feuerspuren. Als Kontrast zur
Werkstattarbeit fängt er die Reize
seiner Lausitzer Heimat auf oft
tagelangen Streifzügen ein, vornehmlich
mit Infrarot- und Schwarzweißbildern,
die er meist vorsichtig
koloriert. Beide geben ihre Kunst in
Kursen an Interessenten weiter.

The artist couple Kuschela and
Voigt jointly operates a small-art
gallery in Burg/ Spreewald and
works well together. In addition to
the restoration of historical stained
glass windows and the decorations
of hollow glass Marita Kuschela is
devoted to various glass melting
techniques. Familiar with finishing
techniques and modern glass melting
technique (fusing) she designs
objects that reflect the transparency,
color and malleability of glass as
a material. Bernd Voigt designs
building ceramics, whose staining
is caused by manganese, iron and
fire. Since 2010 he has also been
designing surfaces in wood fires by
metal oxides and especially through
fire trails. As a contrast to the work
in the workshop he captures the
charms of his Lusatian home region
in expeditions, often for days on
end, especially with infrared and
black and white images, which he
usually colours cautiously. Both pass
their knowledge and art on to other
interested people in their art classes.

Lichtobjekte unter Verwendung

Wandflächen und Räume mit einem

Anerkennung aus der Designszene
und eine Würdigung in diversen
Fachmedien. Seine Arbeiten waren

über die Lichtwirkung hinaus,
immer unter Einbindung der umliegenden
Architektur.

Stefan Restemeier creates a
symbiosis of design and light in his
lamps. As a graduate of the University
of Applied Science Lausitz
he combines an artistic claim with
economic aspects. The design of
his light objects with high quality
materials and with modern colour
and shape concepts is an eyecatcher
in daylight. Using modern
LED technology, they stage walls
and rooms with a warm, indirect
light at dusk and dark. He received
credit from the design community
at the prestigious Hofburg Vienna
Trade Fair and the Designers Open
and was appreciated in various
professional media for his design
lights. His works have been shown
in several exhibitions but are mainly
used in private or public spaces.
Always under the involvement of the
surrounding architecture his light
concepts however enhance urban or
interior rooms with functionalities
beyond the light effect.

Their sense of colour, colour
effects and forms has found international
reputation. In addition
to large-scale outdoor and indoor
murals their work is characterized
by colour schemes for various room
landscapes or very pragmatic
solutions. The customers list includes
illustrious names such as Brad
Pitt's favourite GRAFT architects
and various museums and industrial
companies. They also developed a
graphic concept for the restaurant
of the German Expo Pavilion in
Shanghai, which staged the space
by playing with colours, light and
shadows to fit the overall theme

Ulrike Tetzlaff hat mit ihrem

Neuland betreten. Mit einer neuen
Technologie widmete sie sich als
erste Kreative der künstlerischen
Gardinengestaltung. In jungen Jahren
hatte sie die Kunstschule in Heiligendamm
mit dem Schwerpunkt
Produktdesign besucht, war im
Tapetendesign tätig und in der Innenarchitektur.
Schon zu DDR-Zeiten
selbständig, ergriff sie nach der
Wende ihre Chance. Mit speziellen
Techniken, die sie selbst entwickelt

Ulrike Tetzlaff has used her
special feeling for materials and
forms for 23 years ago. With a new
technology she entered new artistic
territory and became the first artist
for artistic curtain design.

At a young age she attended the
art school in Heiligendamm,
specializing in product design,
worked in wallpaper design and
interior design. Already selfemployed
during GDR times, she
took her chance right after the
reunification of Germany. Using her
special self-developed techniques
she turns curtains into a complete

craftsmanship in her studio.

or rings: clear geometrical basic
forms characterize this jewellery. Because
of the graphic stratification of
bright and dark clay, the connection
with the strong colours of the glazes
or the application of coral pearls,
silver wire and other materials – the
earthen jewellery made by Gabriela
Weidner can be worn to the most
different occasions.
