GAR NICHT LEISE: SONIC-DESIGNER MICHAEL SCHMIDT.
SONIC DESIGNER MICHAEL SCHMIDT ISN’T QUIET AT ALL.
D Faszinierende Ideen stammen
von faszinierenden Menschen.
Gemeinsam mit XAL verbindet
SONIC-Designer Michael Schmidt
Akustik, Beleuchtung und Ästhetik
in einem einzigartigen Produkt,
das Technik und Design perfekt
aufeinander abstimmt.
Nachdem sich Michael Schmidt
intensiv mit dem Thema Geräuschreduktion
in Büroumgebungen
auseinandergesetzt hatte, entwickelte
er gemeinsam mit dem
renommierten Fraunhofer-Institut
und XAL ein Leuchtenkonzept,
das zusätzlich den umgebenden
Geräuschpegel spürbar reduziert.
Die verbaute LED-Technologie von
XAL überzeugt mit Spitzenwerten
von 106 lm/W in der Lichtausbeute.
Aufgrund exzellenter Lichtwerte
und Akustikparameter ist
diese Leuchte für jegliche Art von
Begegnungszonen in öffentlichen
Räumen bestens geeignet.
E Fascinating ideas come from
fascinating people. Together with
XAL, SONIC designer Michael
Schmidt has combined acoustics,
lighting and aesthetics in a unique
product that aligns technology and
design in perfect harmony.
Having grappled extensively with
the issue of noise reduction in
office environments, Michael
Schmidt has developed a lighting
concept in collaboration with the
renowned Fraunhofer-Institute and
XAL that also significantly reduces
the surrounding noise level. The
built-in LED technology from XAL
is impressive, with a peak lighting
efficiency level of 106 lm/W. Due to
the excellent lighting and acoustic
characteristics, this luminaire is suitable
for any type of meeting area
in public places.
D Kommunikation hat sich verändert.
Besonders Geräuschkulissen
in modernen, funktionalen Bauwerken
wie Behörden, Universitäten,
Großraumbüros und Empfangsbereichen
von Hotels können oft
unangenehm laut werden, denn es
kommen vor allem Materialien mit
harten, schallreflektierenden Oberflächen
wie Glas oder Sichtbeton
zum Einsatz. Diese weisen jedoch
kaum schallabsorbierende Wirkung
auf. Dadurch entstehen ungünstige
Hörbedingungen und die Sprachverständlichkeit
im Frequenzbereich
zwischen 500 und 1500 Hertz (Hz)
wird deutlich gemindert. Der SONIC
Schallschutzschirm erzielt genau
hier, bei Frequenzen um 1500 Hz,
beste Ergebnisse (siehe Diagramm).
Durch sein patentiertes Wabendesign
und die gestrickte Außenhülle,
verstärkt durch ein Vlies,
werden Schallwellen im Inneren
gefangen. Somit verkürzt sich die
relevante Nachhallzeit im oberen
Frequenzbereich bei 1500 Hz nach
DIN 18041 hörbar. Da Gespräche
unmittelbar unterhalb des SONIC
Absorbers stattfinden, anders als
bei herkömmlichen Akustikdecken,
ist eine hohe Sprachverständlichkeit
garantiert. Diese schallabsorbierende
Wirkung vereint SONIC mit
fortschrittlichster LED-Technologie.
E Communication has changed.
The noisy backgrounds particularly
in modern, functional buildings
such as government agencies,
universities, large offices and
hotel reception areas can often be
uncomfortably loud, because of
the predominance of materials with
hard, sound-reflecting surfaces,
such as glass or concrete. They offer
but little sound absorption and
sound waves overlap, particularly
in the case of human, which lies in
the frequency range between 500
and 1500 hertz (Hz). It is precisely
in this area, at frequencies around
1500 Hz, that the SONIC sound
shield achieves its best results (see
diagram). Through its patented
honeycomb design and woven
outer sleeve, which is reinforced
by a fleece, sound waves are
trapped inside. Thus, the respective
reverberation time in the upper
frequency range around 1500 Hz,
as per DIN 18041, is audibly reduced.
As conversation takes place
immediately below the SONIC
absorber, unlike with conventional
acoustic ceilings, a high level of
speech intelligibility is guaranteed.
SONIC combines this sound absorbing
effect with advanced LED
technology.
MERCEDES
BENZ
D Inspiration in Vollendung.
E Perfect inspiration! For the Mercedes-Benz display lounge in
Geneva, XAL used SONIC to bring everything into perspective. The
challenge of creating a relaxed but exclusive atmosphere in a noisy
display stand was compounded by the need for decorative lighting
and precise design that could turn the space into an experience for
the customer. The result is an impressive sight: a sound absorbing
atmosphere through lighting suspended below the ceiling in a
stylish lounge for customers with discerning tastes.
INSPIRATIONS – DOCTOR’S PRACTICE
DOCSANDER
DENTIST PRACTICE ROOM
MUNICH
Wohlbefinden ausgerichtet. Kein Wunder, dass SONIC sich hier perfekt
einfügt und unangenehme Geräusche dämpft. Beruhigend zu wissen,
dass man sich darauf verlassen kann.
E DOCSANDER can rightfully call itself one of the ten nicest dental
practices in Germany. An upscale ambience with a feeling of well-being
is given special emphasis here and contributes significantly to the
exceptional architecture of the dental practice, which is probably unique
in its approach. Tranquillity is given prime importance: The configuration,
furnishings and colour tones of the space are designed for maximum
relaxation and well-being. Not surprisingly, SONIC fits here perfectly and
absorbs unpleasant noises. It is reassuring to know that you can count
on it to get the job done.
LOUP CUSTOMISED OFFICE SOLUTION
STUTTGART
perfekt abgestimmte Umgebung integriert. Deshalb punktet SONIC hier
E The interior architecture of the renowned design agency Loup
based in Stuttgart mirrors one element in particular: the exceptional.
The requirement was to find a lighting solution that could be seamlessly
integrated – visually and conceptually – into the stylish and perfectly
coordinated environment. SONIC not only scored high marks in creating
a pleasant working atmosphere, but also played its trump card in terms of
aesthetics: The acoustic screens serve as an independent space-forming
element in the form of sound insulation islands and also provide highquality
lighting throughout the space.
QUIET AND
BRILLIANT
ÜBERZEUGENDE LEISTUNG VON SONIC – BESTÄTIGT
DURCH GRAZER WISSENSCHAFTLER.
THE IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE OF SONIC IS
CONFIRMED BY SCIENTISTS IN GRAZ.
E In conformance with DIN ISO 354, the absorption
properties of SONIC have been put to the test and
the results laid down in black and white: The system
passed with flying colours – even under the adverse
conditions of the 62 m³ office test model, where mainly
glass and hard surfaces are used that have low sound
absorbing characteristics. The reverberation time
of the sound was measured in the office with a test
signal of 50–6000 Hz. Without a sound absorber, this is
clearly outside of the permitted tolerance range (see
black line on graph). The measurement of the SONIC
sound shield confirmed that it significantly reduces
the noise level, particularly in the important frequency
range for speech of 500–1500 Hz (see red line). Thanks
to SONIC, the reverberation time now falls within the
optimum range required under DIN 18041.
D REFLEKTOR
Der Reflektor besteht aus einem
speziellen Material, das einen
Reflexionsgrad von 96% bei diffuser
Strahlungscharakteristik bietet.
Dadurch sind gleichzeitig ein optimaler
D LED
Als Lichtquelle werden ausschließlich
hocheffiziente LEDs mit Farbwiedergabewerten
von CRI 85 und Farbtemperaturen
von wahlweise 3000K
of LEDs with 163 lm/W at 4000K
and 25 °C, we achieve an excellent
light output of up to 106 lm/W.
E SENSOR TECHNOLOGY
Brightness at the workstation is
determined by the ambient light sensor,
while the presence sensor uses
infrared signals and automatically
turns on the light as soon as it
