Zur Musikmesse 2008 haben wir die CAISA vorgestellt.
Das von dem renommierten Steeldrumbauer Bill
Brown in Zusammenarbeit mit Afroton etwickelte
Instrument hat in kürzester Zeit die Herzen
und Ohren eines begeisterten Kundenkreises
erobert. Mittlerweile ist die <strong>Caisa</strong> eines der
gefragtesten Instrumente aus unserem Gesamtprogramm.
Da die <strong>Caisa</strong> vollständig
in Handarbeit hergestellt wird, kann die
Produktion kaum die Nachfrage erfüllen.
Seit Produkteinführung muss der Kunde
mit einer Wartezeit von vier Monaten rechnen,
bevor das gewünschte Instrument

Seit ihrer Premiere hat sich die <strong>Caisa</strong> noch
verbessert. Der Holzboden wurde durch einen
handgetriebenen Stahlboden ersetzt, was das
Instrument noch robuster macht. Die Öffnungen im
Boden erlauben die Montage auf einem Snareständer.
Die Stimmungen sind optimiert worden. Um eine harmonische
Dynamik der Töne zu erreichen, werden einzelne
Klangfelder, wenn erforderlich, mit kleinen Löchern umgeben,
wodurch sich der Klang optimal entfalten kann. Die <strong>Caisa</strong> ist einfach
zu spielen und begeistert Profis genauso wie Einsteiger und Kinder. Der
nuancenreiche Klang bietet eine Vielfalt von Obertönen und lädt zum
Experimentieren, Staunen und Träumen ein. Neu im Programm ist jetzt
auch eine speziell für die <strong>Caisa</strong> produzierte robuste, gepolsterte Tragetasche,
die Ihrer <strong>Caisa</strong> die gewünschte Mobilität ermöglicht. Für den

Das PERCUSSO ist ein neues 2inOne Perkussionsinstrument
für den Allround Musiker. Ein erstklassiger
Schellenkranz mit drei Reihen resonanter
Schellen ist mit einem klangstarken Tempelblock vereint.
Beide Instrumente sind so optimal verbunden,
dass sie mit einer Hand gleichzeitig gespielt werden
können. Während der Schellenkranz geschüttelt und
geschlagen wird, löst die haltende Hand einen Abzug
aus, der einen Stahlhammer auf den Tempelblock
prallen lässt. Das Ganze ist bequem handzuhaben und
ermöglicht das Spiel von beiden Instrumenten mit
einer Hand. Die robuste Verarbeitung und die hervorragen
aufeinander absgestimmeten Klänge machen
das Percusso zu einem Muß für jeden anspruchsvollen
Profi und begeisterten Einsteiger.
The PERCUSSO is a new percussion instrument for the
versatile musician. It unites a fi rst class tambourine
equipped with three rows of resonant jingles with a
powerful temple block. Both instruments are combined
so well that they can be played with one hand. While
the tambourine is shaken and struck, the holding hand
releases a trigger which makes a steel-hammer strike
the temple block. The instrument is easy to handle
and allows the play of both instruments with only one
hand. The durably crafted instrument and the perfectly
suited sounds make the percusso a must-have for the
discerning professional and the enthusiastic amateur.

Thanks to our ongoing exchange with our partners in Guinea
and Mali, we can now present a renewed increase in
the quality ouf our range of MASTER DJEMBES. Selected
wood, well seasoned, beautiful, highly defined carvings
and detailed exactness in the whole manufacturing give
a remaining value to these instruments.
The CAISA <strong>–</strong> hands on steel: a story of success
At the music fair 2008 we introduced the CAISA. Bill Brown, the renowned
steeldrummaker, developed the <strong>Caisa</strong> in cooperation with Afroton. The instrument
has quickly found its way to the heart and ears of an enthusiastic
clientele. Within a very short time, the caisa became one of the most
sought-after instruments of our total program As the caisa is completely
made by hand, the production can hardly keep up with the
demand. Still today, the customer has to expect a waiting time
of four months . Our recommendation: order now!
Since its fi rst appearance, the caisa has undergone several
improvements. The wooden bottom has been replaced by a
handcrafted metal bowl, making the instrument more robust.
The holes in the bottom permit easy mounting on a snaredrum-stand.
Another improvement concerns the tuning.

playing surfaces
have to be bordered
by a ring of small holes,
which allows the sound to
unfold easily. The <strong>Caisa</strong> is easy

neue Sansula hat einen hervorragenden Klang und spielt
sich beinahe wie von selbst.
We are delighted to introduce the SANSULA RENAISSANCE
kalimba. The youngest member of the sansula family satisfies
the high expectations of professional musicians and
enthusiastic amateurs. The sansula renaissance is equipped
with a first-class REMO ® renaissance skin which is
attached to a beech-wood-frame. The synthetic renaissance
skin is highly resistant and does not react to dampness.
Retuning the skin is not required: the sansula renaissance
maintains its tension even under averse circumstances.
The steel-tongues are, as with all Hokema kalimbas, made
of a specially manufactured and coated high-tension steel,
which remains flexible and resonant for many years. The
corpus of the sansula renaissance is crafted from matured
cherry tree wood. The new sansula has an excellent sound
and plays almost by itself.

Cottage Craft is a Nepalese Company which has established

Gralla, Tarota und Chalumau
Drei ausdrucksstarke Blasinstrumente
der katalanischen Volksmusik.
Die mit einem Doppelrohrblatt ausgestattete GRALLA
(ähnlich der Schalmei) ist seit dem Mittelalter das traditionelle
Instrument der Schäfer. Mit ihrem hellen, starken
Klang, erinnert sie an den Ruf des Hahns. Nach katalanischer
Tradition vertreibt der Klang böse Geister.
Die 60cm lange TAROTA ist eine Weiterentwicklung der
Gralla aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Das fein gedrechselte Doppelrohrblatt-Instrument
ist konisch gebohrt und besteht
aus zwei hölzernen Teilen, die durch einen einstellbaren
Metallübergang (Tudell) verbunden werden.
Stark im Klang, warm und gefühlvoll ist die CHALUMAU
(Einrohrblatt), die in Frankreich im 17. Jahrhundert aus
der Schalmei entwickelt wurde. Aus bestem Holz gedrechselt,
eignet sie sich für alle, die Blockfl öte spielen können.

The GRALLA equipped
with a double
reed (similarly
to the Schalmei)
is the traditional
instrument of the
shepherds since
the Middle Ages.
With its bright and
powerful sound it
reminds of the call
of the cock. After Catalan tradition the sound expels the
bad spirits.
The 60-cm-long TAROTA is an advancement of the Gralla
from the 19th century. The fi nely stilted double pipe sheet
instrument is bored conical and exists of two wooden parts
which are connected by an adjustable metal crossing (Tudell).
The CHALUMAU (single reed) has a powerful, warm sound. It
was developed from the Schalmei in France in the 17th century.
Stilted of the best wood, it can be played as simply as a fl ute.

The instruments are made with care and consideration
from seasoned rosewood by the experienced craftsmen
of Sans Luthier.
