Barockviertel und
barocke Adelspalais
Das Barockviertel ist mit seinen Bauwerken ein bemerkenswertes
Ensemble des 18. Jahrhunderts.
Zu dem Barockviertel gehören Dom und Domdechanei, Schloss
und Schlossgarten, Paulustor und Hauptwache sowie einige
der Bürgerhäuser in der angrenzenden Friedrichstraße. Die
barocken Adelspalais, die sich um das Schloss herum gruppieren,
waren Wohnungen der Hofbeamten.
Diese herrschaftlichen Gebäude, die heute noch von unterschiedlichen
Institutionen genutzt werden, wurden von dem
Baumeister Andreas Gallasini geschaffen.
The Baroque Quarter and the
baroque Nobles’ Palaces
The baroque quarter consists of a remarkable ensemble of
buildings from the 18th century which gives our city its special
character.
The baroque quarter consists of the Cathedral, the Cathedral
deanery, the Residence, the Paulustor, the Guardhouse and
some houses in the nearby Friedrichstrasse. The baroque Nobles’
Palaces, which are grouped around the Residence, were the
homes of court administrators.
These stately buildings, built by the architect Andreas Gallasini,
are still used as offices by various institutions.
Die bekannten Sammlungen Fuldaer und Thüringer Porzellans
sind ebenfalls im Schloss ausgestellt. Weiterhin ist ein
kleines Kabinett Ferdinand Braun (1850-1918) gewidmet.
Der Erfinder der Braunschen Röhre wurde in Fulda geboren.
Er erhielt 1909 den Nobelpreis für Physik.
Alle Räume, die nicht als Museumsräume genutzt werden,
sind heute Verwaltungsräume der Stadtverwaltung. Einige
der historischen Räume werden für Trauungen, Konzerte oder
Lesungen genutzt.
In the Residence you can see the famous collection of Fulda
and Thuringian porcelain, as well as a small cabinet dedicated
to Ferdinand Braun (1850-1918), a Fulda-born scientist who invented
the cathode ray tube and was awarded the Nobel Prize
for Physics in 1909.
All the rooms that are not used as museum rooms are now
city council offices. Some of the historical rooms are used for
weddings, concerts or readings.

Die Historischen Räume des Schlosses bleiben am
24. Dezember geschlossen und sind am 31. Dezember
von 10.00 bis 14.00 Uhr geöffnet, wenn dieser Tag nicht
auf einen Freitag fällt.
In den Historischen Räumen des Stadtschlosses bieten
wir exklusive Veranstaltungen wie z. B. Schauspielführungen
auch außerhalb der Öffnungs zeiten an.

day is not a Friday).

We also stage special events like, for example, enacted
baroque scenes in period dress in the historical rooms of
the Residence outside normal opening times.
