amei – beautiful plants in beautiful pots
amei Pflanzgefäße sind natürlich schön und außergewöhnlich
robust. Sie bestehen aus dem technisch
anspruchsvollen Verbundstoff Stonefiber – einer Mixtur
aus Polyesterharz und gemahlenem Stein, bei der
zusätzlich eingelegte Stränge aus Fiberglas eine besonders
hohe Stabilität erzielen.
Zum einen faszinieren die amei Töpfe durch ihren
hochwertigen mineralischen Look, der bei den schwarzen
Modellen nach einigen Monaten eine natürliche,
graue Patina entwickelt. Zum anderen ist Stonefiber
stoß- und frostfest. Die Gefäße überstehen somit kleinere
Stürze, das Umkippen bei Sturm und Überwinterungen
im Freien in der Regel unbeschadet. Im direkten
Vergleich zu Stein- oder Tontöpfen punkten sie
wegen der geringeren Materialdicke mit einem deutlich
reduzierten Gewicht, was die Handhabung erleichtert.
Mit amei hält also neben geometrisch klarer
Formensprache auch eine neue Unbeschwertheit auf
Terrasse, Balkon oder Fensterbank Einzug – und sorgt
somit für ein gutes Stück Topfgärtners Glück!
Falls Sie die amei Pflanzgefäße draußen verwenden
und sie dort ungeschützt im Regen stehen, bringen
Sie bitte mit der Bohrmaschine und einem handelsüblichen
Steinbohrer Wasserabflusslöcher in den
Topfboden ein, ansonsten droht Wurzelfäule durch
sich im Topf sammelnde Staunässe.
amei plant pots are both attractive and exceptionally
strong. They are made from the technically superior
compound stone fibre – a mixture of polyester resin
and ground stone with additional strands of fibreglass
to ensure particularly good stability.
On the one hand, amei pots are intriguing with their
high-quality, mineral look, – the black models develop
a natural grey patina after a few months. On the other,
the stone fibre is impact- and frost-resistant. The pots
are therefore generally able to withstand small bumps,
falling over in stormy weather and cold winter weather
outside without suffering damage. In comparison with
stone or clay vessels, the thinner material of these pots
leads to a considerable reduction in weight, making
them much easier to handle. In addition to the geometrically
clear designs, the amei collection brings a new
light-hearted and carefree ambience to terraces, balconies
and window boxes – happy pots for happy
gardeners!
If you use amei plant pots in exterior areas with no
protection against rain, please use a standard drill and
auger to create water drainage holes in the bottom
of the pot. If water is left to collect in the pots, root
rot may occur.

Die klassischen amei Töpfe mit dem verstärkten Rand
revolutionieren die bekannte Blumentopf-Gestaltung,
weil sie besonders robust gegen Stöße und Schläge
von außen sind. Sie können aber aufgrund ihrer Statik
– wie jeder andere Blumentopf – von innen auf die
Wände wirkenden Druck nur begrenzt abbauen.
Daher empfehlen wir Ihnen, das Eigengewicht der
Füllung durch Beimengen von Styroporkugeln zum
Pflanzsubstrat zu reduzieren. Zusätzlich lassen sich
diese Töpfe mit einem passenden Untersetzer und mit
wasserdichten Silikoneinsätzen ausstatten (siehe
Seite 21 und 23).
The classic amei pots with their reinforced edge
provide particular protection against external knocks
and bumps – a revolution to the common flower pot
design. Nevertheless, like all round plant pots, their
statics mean that pressure coming from the pot
interior can only be reduced to a certain extent. As
a result of this, we recommend reducing the weight
of the filling by mixing the soil with polystyrene balls
or chips. These pots can also be teamed up with
matching saucers and waterproofed silicone inserts
(page 21 and 13).

amei eröffnet Ihnen alle Möglichkeiten des kreativen
Gärtnerns im Kleinformat: Je kleiner der Raum auf
Balkon oder Terrasse, desto eher bieten sich die eckigen
Blumentöpfe in allen Höhen und Breiten an! Der hohe
Quadratische setzt sich das Quadrat als Grundfläche
und streckt sich proportional zur Grundfläche in die
Höhe. Einzeln akzentuiert der Topf als markante
Säule jede Pflanze. In Reihe angeordnet kommt seine
praktische eckige Form bestens als kleine »Mauer« zur
Geltung. Sowohl wasserdichte Silikoneinsätze, als auch
passende Untersetzer sind erhältlich (Seite 23 und 21).
Die neuen säulenartigen Blumentöpfe L 2 und M 2 verfügen
über einen mittigen Zwischenboden.

to the surface area. As a distinctive pillar, a single
pot accentuates each plant. If arranged in a row as a
small “wall”, its practical square shape shows its advantages.
Both waterproof silicone inserts and matching

tall quadratic ones L 2 and M 2 have a middle layer.

Der sprichwörtliche Balkonkasten präsentiert bei amei
ein ganz neues ästhetisches und technisches Profil: Ob
an Geländern, auf halbhohen Terrassen-Mauern oder
auf Brüstungen – seine charakteristische Form definiert
Flächen und Räume. Auf der Fensterbank oder dem
Sideboard ist der Lange auch im Innenbereich ein markantes

Form erinnert an eine flache Obststeige oder ein hochwandiges
Tablett, bezaubert aber in seiner dickwandigen

The shape reminds of a flat fruit crate or a high-sided
tablet, however, it fascinates due to its thick-walled

Insbesondere in Eingangsbereichen macht der Konische
eine gute Figur. Da hier jedoch naturgemäß viel
Betrieb herrscht, sollten Sie den schlank zulaufenden
unteren Teil des amei Topfs mit Kies füllen – dies
erhöht seine Standsicherheit!
Überlegen Sie sich die grundsätzliche Frage, ob Sie
dieses hohe, formschöne Pflanzgefäß mit winterharten
oder wechselnden, blühenden Pflanzen füllen
möchten vor der ersten Bepflanzung: Bei häufigem
Wechsel sollten Sie den optional erhältlichen Silikoneinsatz
verwenden, um einerseits die neue Bepflanzung

usually a busy area, you should fill the bottom conic
part of the pot with gravel which increases stability!
Think about the basic question whether you want to
fill this tall, nicely shaped plant pot with winter-hardy
or with changing flowering plants before planting for
the first time: In the case of a frequent change, you
should use the optionally available silicone insert in
order to allow for a quick replanting and to be able
to easily move plants sensitive to cold to their winter

Von XXL bis XXS: Die sieben abgestuften Größen des
runden Modells machen es dem engagierten Topfgärtner
besonders leicht, durch regelmäßiges Umtopfen
seinen „Grünen Daumen“ zu trainieren – und dabei
seinem Stil treu zu bleiben. Denn ist die Pflanze aus
dem einen Runden herausgewachsen, kommt sie
geradewegs in den nächstgrößeren!
Je nach Art des Gewächses empfiehlt sich ein Umtopfen
alle 2 bis 3 Jahre, wobei der Durchmesser des
Behältnisses um mindestens 2 bis 4 cm größer gewählt
werden sollte (bei großen Pflanzen bis zu 10 cm).
From XXL to XXS: The seven different volumes available
in the round model make it particularly easy
for keen plant pot gardeners to perfect their ‘green
fingers’ through regular repotting, whilst remaining
faithful to their style. Once the plant has grown
out of one round pot, the next size up is ready and
waiting!
Depending on the type of plant, repotting is recommended
every two to three years. The diameter of
the bigger pot should be at least 2 to 4 cm larger (or
up to 10 cm for large plants).

Die Füße

Zur besseren Drainage Ihrer Pflanzen bietet amei
kleine Kunststoff-Füße, die einfach seitlich unter den
leicht angehoben Blumenkübel geschoben werden
und somit einen Abstand zwischen Untergrund und
Kübel erzeugen. Wie berühmte Hocker- und Stuhlentwürfe
beweisen, den besten, kippelfreien Stand haben
Objekte, wenn sie auf drei Füßen stehen. Ordnen Sie
die Füße in Dreiecksform unter dem Pflanzgefäß an,
die schwarze Gummiauflage hält den Blumentopf
rutschfest, die halbkugeligen Schalen sorgen stets für
den besten Stand, auch wenn der Untergrund leicht
uneben ist. Besonders auf Wiesenflächen sind die
kleinen Füße empfehlenswert, denn der kleine luftige
Abstand verhindert bestens, dass die Grashalme umknicken
und vergilben.
For a better drainage of your plants, amei of fers small

the best tilting-free stand. Arrange the feet in a triangular
shape below the plant pot; the black rubber pad

Der Gummieinsatz

Der Einsatz für die beiden größten runden amei Pflanztöpfe
(XL und XXL) erschließt den Freunden großer
Pflanzen drei Anwendungsvorteile: Er ermöglicht das
Ziehen besonders tief bzw. intensiv wurzelnder
Pflanzenarten (z. B. Bambus), da die flexible Gummimischung
dem unterirdischem Wachstum bis zu einem
gewissen Grad nachgibt, aber übermäßigen Wurzeldruck
trotzdem von den Topf-Innenwänden fernhält.
Zudem schützt dieses unsichtbare „Topf-in-Topf“-
System die Wurzelballen aller Pflanzen wirkungsvoll
vor Staunässe: Überschüssiges Gießwasser tropft über
die im Boden des Einsatzes eingebrachten Drainagelöcher
in den amei Topf ab. Drittens vermindert der
Gummi-Einsatz das nutzbare Netto-Volumen der
großen amei Töpfe. Das heißt, dass Sie je nach Art des
verwendeten Substrates einiges an Gewicht einsparen –
Ihr Rücken wird es Ihnen danken, wenn Sie Ihre
Pflanzen an beiden Griffen sicher ins Winterquartier
stellen.
The rubber insert for amei 's two largest round pots
(XL and XXL) presents three major advantages for
friends of foliage plants, grasses, ornamental shrubs
and single-stem plants: it enables the cultivation of
particularly deep or strong-rooted plants (i.e. bamboo),
as the flexible rubber mixture stretches slightly to
allow for underground growth, whilst preventing
excess root pressure from the inner walls to the pot.
This invisible ‘pot in pot’ system also provides effective
protection for plants’ root bundles against water logging:
excess irrigation water drips through the insert’s
drainage holes into the amei pot, where it can then
evaporate. Thirdly, the rubber insert reduces the usable
net volume of the largest pots in the amei range.
This means that, depending on the type of substratum
used, considerable savings in weight can be made -
your back will thank you while carrying your plants
securely using the two handles or moving them inside
for the winter!

Der Silikoneinsatz
The silicone insert
Flexibel und formbar aus weichem Kunststoff passt
sich der Einsatz an alle runden und sogar eckigen
Formen der Stonefiber Pots an. Einfach in das Pflanzgefäß
hineindrücken und schon ist dieses auslaufsicher.
Bei hohen Stonefiber Pots kann hiermit deutlich
die Menge verwendeter Blumenerde reduziert und
unterhalb des Einsatzes Kies oder Styropor eingefüllt
werden. Der wasserdichte Einsatz ist besonders ratsam,
wenn Stonefiber Pots nicht im Freien, sondern im
Haus genutzt werden.
The flexible and shapeable insert made of soft plastic
is suitable for all round and even square shapes of the
Stonefiber pots. Just push the insert into the plant pot
thus making it drainage proof. In doing so, the
amount of flower soil used can be reduced drastically
and the pot can be filled with gravel or polystyrene
below the insert. The waterproof insert is highly
recommended if Stonefiber pots are not used outside
but within the building.
