Die Firma Kowsky ist schon seit Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts in der Orthopädie
tätig. Aus Ostpreußen stammend, wanderte der Firmengründer Fritz
Ernst Kowsky um 1900 nach Südafrika aus. Nach hart erarbeiteten Erfolgen
warf der Erste Weltkrieg seine Schatten über das englische Kolonialreich
Südafrika. Nach den Wirren des Krieges schlug die Familie Kowsky den Weg
zurück nach Deutschland ein und wurde in Neumünster ansässig. Mit Paul
Kowsky gelangte hier auch die zweite Generation in das Unternehmen.
Zunächst lag der Schwerpunkt im Bereich der Orthopädie-Mechanik, verlagerte
sich Mitte der 60er Jahre aber auf die Produktion von Gehhilfen und
orthopädischem Zubehör. Seit Anfang der 70er Jahre wird das umfangreiche
Sortiment in der eigens erstellten Fabrikationsstätte in Neumünster hergestellt.
1976 teilte sich das Gesamtunternehmen Kowsky-Orthopädie mit der
Übernahme durch die dritte Familiengeneration in zwei unabhängige
Betriebe, zum einen in das Sanitätshaus und zum anderen in die Fabrikation
orthopädischer Hilfsmittel unter der Leitung von Erwin Kowsky. Heute liegt die
Unternehmensführung der Erwin Kowsky GmbH & Co. KG in der Hand der vierten
Generation. Unter der Geschäftsführung von Stefan Kowsky wurde das
Unternehmen nach EN ISO 9001:2008 und EN ISO 13485:2003 + AC:2007
zertifiziert.

The company Kowsky has already been active in the orthopaedics industry
since the end of the 19th century. The company founder Fritz Ernst Kowsky
came from East Prussia and emigrated to South Africa round about 1900.
He earned hard-worked success, however, World War I cast a cloud over the
British colonial empire South Africa. After the chaos of war the Kowsky
family returned to Germany and started to establish their family-run business
in Neumünster, situated in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost
federal state of Germany. With Paul Kowsky the second generation entered
the company. At first the focus was on orthopaedic mechanics, but as of the
mid 1960's this has more and more changed to the production of walking aids and
orthopaedic accessories. Since the beginning of the 1970’s the comprehensive
product portfolio has been manufactured at the production location in
Neumünster, which has been built especially for this purpose. As the third
generation came into the business in 1976, the family-owned company
Kowsky Orthopaedics was split into two separate companies: The supplier
of medical equipment named Sanitätshaus Kowsky and the production of
orthopaedic accessories and aids led by Erwin Kowsky. Today, Erwin Kowsky
GmbH & Co. KG is led by the fourth Kowsky generation. Under the management
of Stefan Kowsky the company has achieved certification according to EN ISO
9001:2008 as well as EN ISO 13485:2003 and AC:2007.
Our declared aims have always been and still are a high level of customer
