since 2006. This new subsidiary
was the first step towards entering
the gigantic US laboratory furni-
ture market. And WALDNER Inc.
has now struck gold: Princeton
University is equipping its research
facility with 250 Waldner fume
cupboards. An A-list customer for
Waldner.
Discussions commenced two years ago in New Jersey with
the heads of the planning agency and the university. It
soon became apparent that our fume cupboard technology
was completely new for the US market, but highly sought
after. Our contacts were not only impressed by the safety
components of the Waldner fume cupboards, they were also
interested in the economical aspects which characterise
these products. Further meetings with the US architects and
the air and safety technicians from Princeton University
focused increasingly on the energy savings which can be
achieved with the Waldner fume cupboards.
Job done: In March 2008, Princeton University placed an
order with WALDNER Inc. for 250 laboratory fume cupboards
worth almost $6.5 million. The importance of this order can
be best appreciated when you consider that WALDNER was
able to beat off the competition of a US market leader to come
out on top.
The fact that Waldner Secuflow fume cupboards are now
being installed at Princeton University underlines the recent
trend in the USA for environmentally-friendly and energyefficient
laboratory solutions. Until 2006, a fume cupboard
was considered safe in the USA if it was operated at high air
speeds and thus with lots of air; and this obviously resulted
in immense operating costs for laboratories. The Secuflow
fume cupboards at Princeton University will prove that operating
safety is also guaranteed with less air consumption
and lower air speeds.
