Grußwort Greeting 

Ich freue mich, Sie zur diesjährigen Automechanika 

begrüßen zu können. Mit dieser Broschüre möchten wir 

Ihnen den Weg zu der Vielfalt der Aussteller und Veranstaltungen 

zum wichtigen Thema Elektromobilität ebnen. 

Auch auf die Sonderschauen dieser „Internationalen 

Leitmesse der Automobilwirtschaft“ möchte ich an dieser 

Stelle hinweisen. Die Bundesregierung hat die Förderung 

der Elektromobilität ganz oben auf die Tagesordnung gesetzt. 

Gemeinsam mit Industrie und Wissenschaft arbeiten wir 

intensiv daran, die Elektromobilität in den nächsten Jahren 

zur Marktreife zu führen. Innovative Produkte und Lösungen 

müssen alltagstauglich und bezahlbar sein, um die Menschen 

überzeugen zu können. Daher setzen wir vor allem auf die 

Förderung von Forschungs- und Demonstrationsvorhaben, 

zum Beispiel mit unserem Programm Schaufenster Elektromobilität. 

Es freut mich besonders, dass das Messeangebot nicht 

bei Fahrzeugtechnologie und Zubehör haltmacht, sondern 

auch ein Schlaglicht auf neue Konzepte für die Mobilität der 

Zukunft insgesamt wirft. Aus klimapolitischen Erwägungen, 

aber auch aufgrund der steigenden Preise für Benzin und 

Diesel ist dabei die Verbreitung elektrischer Antriebe zentral. 

Bei dieser langfristigen Aufgabe müssen wir einen langen 

Atem beweisen und uns nicht an der ersten Wegbiegung 

entmutigen lassen. 

Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass viele neue Geschäftskontakte 

auf der Automechanika 2012 helfen werden, das Thema 

Elektromobilität in Deutschland weiter voranzubringen. In 

diesem Sinne wünsche ich allen Ausstellern und Besuchern 

erfolgreiche Messetage in Frankfurt.

I am very much looking forward to welcoming you to this 

year’s Automechanika. Our aim with this brochure is to guide 

you towards the wide range of exhibitors and events with 

a focus on the important issue of electromobility. I should 

also like to draw your attention to the various special shows 

at this leading international trade fair for the automotive 

industry. The German federal government has placed the 

promotion of electromobility high up on its agenda. Together 

with the manufacturing industry and science we are working 

hard to bring electromobility to market readiness. Innovative 

products and solutions must be practical and affordable 

if they are going to win people over. We are therefore concentrating 

on the promotion of research and demonstration 

projects, e.g. our Electromobility Showcase programme. 

I am particularly pleased that the trade fair does not focus 

solely on vehicle technology and accessories, it also highlights 

new concepts for the mobility of the future. The spread 

of electric engines is vital not just for climatic reasons, but 

also because of the rising price of petrol and diesel. In this 

long-term challenge we must show perseverance and not 

give up at the fi rst obstacle. 

I am confi dent that the large number of new business 

contacts made at Automechanika 2012 will help us to drive 

forward the theme of electromobility in Germany. I wish 

all exhibitors and visitors a successful time in Frankfurt.

Die Automechanika 2012 präsentiert ein weites Spektrum 

an Produkten und Lösungen und spektakuläre Sonderschauen 

zum Thema E-Mobility. 

Wer Interesse an Vorträgen und Diskussionsrunden zum 

Thema „Mobilität von morgen – Konzepte und Technik“ 

hat, sollte am 12. 9. im Portalhaus/Eingang West beim 

Automechanika Aftermarket Forum dabei sein – dort geht 

es um die ganze Bandbreite verschiedener Technologien, 

die den Verbrennungsmotor zum Schutz der Umwelt 

optimieren.

Automechanika 2012 presents a wide spectrum of products 

and solutions as well as spectacular special shows on the 

theme of e-mobility. 

Anyone interested in the theme “Mobility of tomorrow –

Forum on 12 September (Portalhaus/West Entrance).

Karabag 

Sirri Karabag entwickelt, baut und vertreibt mit seinem Unternehmen, 

der KARABAG GmbH, Elektroautos. Zuverlässige und 

alltagstaugliche Fahrzeuge, die bereits in Deutschland rund 

18 Millionen Kilometer zurückgelegt haben (Stand August 2012). 

Ende August 2011 präsentierte Sirri Karabag mit dem new500E 

das zur Zeit günstigste Elektroauto Deutschlands. Mit dem 

Karabag new500E hat die Karabag GmbH zusammen mit 

deutschen Technologiepartnern wie zum Beispiel der Linde 

Material Handling GmbH das erste deutsche Elektroauto 

entwickelt, das im Vergleich zu einem benzinbetriebenen 

Kleinwagen kostengünstiger ist. 

Auf einem Testparcours von etwa 1.000 qm können die Besucher 

Karabag-Fahrzeuge Probe fahren.

Karabag 

Sirri Karabag develops, constructs and sells electric cars with 

his company KARABAG GmbH. These reliable and practical 

vehicles have already (as of August 2012) clocked up around 

18 million kilometres on Germany’s roads. At the end of August 

2011 Sirri Karabag presented the new500E, currently the cheapest 

electric car in Germany. With the Karabag new500E, the Karabag 

company together with a number of German technology partners, 

including Linde Material Handling GmbH, have developed the 

fi rst German electric car that is cheaper compared to a petrolpowered 

small car. 

Visitors can test drive the Karabag car on a test track of approx. 

1,000 sqm.

Linde Material Handling GmbH 

Linde Material Handling stellt seit 40 Jahren E-Stapler her und 

fertigt jährlich rund 350.000 Elektromotoren. Im Rahmen einer 

Elektromobilitätsshow, viermal täglich auf der Agora-Freifl äche, 

zeigt das Unternehmen, was Elektromotoren alles können. 

Zuschauer erleben unter anderem das schnellste Elektro-Kart 

der Welt (in 3,45 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h), das gemeinsam 

mit Karabag auf Fiat 500-Basis entwickelte Elektroauto new500E 

und das Zwei-Wege-Fahrzeug Rotrac E 2, das rein elektrisch 

Güterzüge mit über 250 Tonnen Gewicht ziehen kann. Alle 

Fahrzeuge basieren auf Komponenten, die in den E-Staplern 

und Lagertechnikgeräten des Unternehmens verbaut sind.

Linde Material Handling GmbH 

For 40 years Linde Material Handling has been making electricpowered 

industrial trucks and manufactures around 350,000 

electric motors annually. The company will be demonstrating 

the possibilities of electric motors four times a day at the Agora 

outdoor area as part of an Electromobility Show. On display will 

be the fastest electric go-kart in the world (0 to 100 km/h in 

3.45 seconds), the new500E electric car that has been developed 

jointly with Karabag on the basis of the Fiat 500 and the 

Rotrac E 2 two-way shunting truck that can tow freight trains 

weighing over 250 tonnes using solely electric power. All vehicles 

are based on components that are installed in the company’s 

electric industrial trucks and warehouse devices. According to 

Maik Manthey, Head of Electronic Systems and Drives: 

“Electromobility is not only feasible, it is also affordable thanks 

to our proven series products.”

STILL GmbH

STILL bietet maßgefertigte innerbetriebliche Logistik weltweit und 

realisiert das intelligente Zusammenspiel von Gabelstaplern und 

Lagertechnik, Software, Dienstleistungen und Service. Mit einem 

fl ächendeckenden Netzwerk von über 800 Servicestützpunkten allein 

in Deutschland gehen der Elektroauto-Pionier Karabag und STILL, 

Marktführer bei Elektrostaplern in Europa, jetzt einen weiteren Schritt 

in eine elektromobile Zukunft. Der Karabag new500E und das 

fl ächendeckende Servicenetz von STILL machen den Weg frei für 

die fl ächendeckende Nutzung von Elektroautos. 

Im Rahmen der STILL-Akademie, dem Schulungskonzept von STILL, 

werden die Techniker für diesen Einsatz geschult, um die Besonderheiten 

der Karabag-Fahrzeuge kennenzulernen. Die Motoren und 

die Steuerelektronik für Batterien und Antrieb sind ihnen dabei 

bekannt – beides sind größtenteils Komponenten der KION-Gruppe, 

zu der auch STILL gehört.

STILL supplies tailored, in-company logistics solutions across the 

world and realises the intelligent interaction of forklifts and warehouse 

systems, software and services. With a comprehensive 

network of over 800 service points in Germany alone, electric car 

pioneer Karabag and STILL, the European market leader in electric 

industrial trucks, are now taking a further step towards an electromobile 

future. The Karabag new500E and the extensive STILL service 

network have opened the way for the widespread use of electric cars. 

Prior to deployment, technicians will undergo training in the special 

features of Karabag vehicles at the STILL Academy. The motors 

and control electronics for batteries and drive systems will already 

be familiar to them as both largely consist of components from the 

KION Group, of which STILL is a member. 

Bertha Benz Challenge 

14. 9. 2012 Agora 

Nach dem großen Erfolg 2011 fahren dieses Jahr zum zweiten Mal 

Fahrzeuge mit alternativem Antrieb die symbolträchtige Strecke, die 

Bertha Benz im Jahre 1888 zurückgelegt hat. Der Startschuss fällt 

auf der Automechanika am Freitag, den 14. 9. 2012 gegen 16 Uhr 

auf der Freifl äche Agora. Die Route der Bertha Benz Challenge läuft 

vom 14. – 16. 9. 2012: Frankfurt – Mannheim – Bruchsal – Pforzheim – 

Hockenheimring – Mannheim

Following the outstanding success of this event in 2011, vehicles 

powered by alternative technologies will again this year drive the 

historic route travelled by Bertha Benz in 1888. The offi cial start will 

take place at Automechanika on Friday, 14. 9. 2012 at around 16:00 

at the Agora outdoor area. The Bertha Benz Challenge will take place 

from 14 – 16. 9. 2012 along the following route: Frankfurt – Mannheim – 

Bruchsal – Pforzheim – Hockenheimring – Mannheim

Bundesverband Elektromobilität e.V. 

In der Halle 10.0 präsentieren sich zahlreiche BEM-Mitgliedsunternehmen 

auf einer Fläche von über 700 qm. Zwei Testparcours 

für Elektroautos (Serien-Elektroautos verschiedener 

Hersteller) und Elektrozweiräder (Pedelecs, eBikes, eScooter) 

führen aus der Halle in einen Außenbereich, wo mehrere 

Ladesäulen aufgebaut sind, an denen die Elektrofahrzeuge direkt 

geladen werden können. Unter den ausstellenden BEM-Mitgliedsunternehmen 

sind unter anderen Adam Opel mit dem Ampera, 

EnBW mit dem neuen „Elektronauten-Ladekarte“-System, EDAG 

mit dem innovativen Light Car Sharing Konzept, Helmut Niemeyer 

GmbH mit dem Elektro-Roller EGRET One und Movelo mit 

zahlreichen Pedelecs zum Probefahren. 

Daneben werden auch verschiedene Regionen ihre Produkte 

und Ambitionen im Bereich Elektromobilität präsentieren – unter 

anderem das Land Hessen und die Berliner Agentur für Elektromobilität 

eMO. Wie bei vergangenen BEM-Messeauftritten 

werden auch auf der Automechanika interessante Gäste und 

Gesprächspartner aus Politik und Wirtschaft auf dem BEM- 

Gemeinschaftsstand zu Pressegesprächen und Messerundgängen 

erwartet. Unter anderem hat sich der hessische Staatsminister 

Axel Wintermeyer zu einem Besuch am Stand angekündigt.

German Electromobility Association (BEM) 

Numerous BEM members will be presenting their products and 

services in Hall 10.0 on an exhibition area of over 700 sqm. Two 

test tracks for electric cars (series-produced vehicles from various 

manufacturers) and electric two-wheelers (pedelecs, eBikes and 

eScooters) lead out of the hall into an outdoor area with several 

charging stations for electric vehicles. BEM member companies 

exhibiting here include Opel with the Ampera, EnBW with the 

new “Electronaut Charge Card” system, EDAG with the innovative 

“light car sharing” concept, Helmut Niemeyer with the EGRET 

One e-scooter and Movelo with numerous pedelecs to try out. 

In addition, various German regions will be showcasing their products 

and ambitions in the sphere of electromobility, including the state 

of Hessen and the Berlin Agency for Electromobility (eMO). As with 

previous BEM trade fair events, interesting guests and contacts from 

the worlds of politics and business are expected at the BEM joint 

stand at Automechanika for press conferences and tours of the show. 

Hessen State Minister Axel Wintermeyer has announced that he will 

be paying a visit to the stand.
